Some people only know Hugh as Wolverine...
but as a beloved superhero...and even film sites are always interested to feature any update on the character as played by Hugh.

Saw this chance to show comicbook fans ( CBR is one of the major comicbook film adaptations websites - followed by Deadline & Variety)) that there is another side to Hugh Jackman's talent...and that sometimes his other performing talent is not too far off to what Wolverine does.

As HughJackman says, dance choreography is similar to fight choreography. Also, the amount of dancing he did for TheMusicMan has prepared him for the physical fitness needed for the Deadpool-Wolverine movie.

When the director and top two stars of “Deadpool 3” showed up in Taylor Swift’s VIP suite at the New York Jets-Kansas City Chiefs game earlier this month, it fueled rumors that the pop star would appear in the film as the mutant rock-n-roller Dazzler. It also underscored the importance to Disney of the movie, which is expected to be the studio’s top priority when production resumes in the post-strike world.

“Deadpool” is one of several tentpole franchises that will dominate the production pipeline once SAG-AFTRA ends its strike and Hollywood fully gets back to work, insiders told TheWrap. ‘DEADPOOL 3’ is expected to keep its current release date, May 3, 2024.

Shawn Levy recently confirmed that the film is already halfway completed with filming and editing and only has around 35 days left of filming.

Looking at these numbers all I’m a say is if Marvel wants Deadpool 3 to make a profit they better keep that budget below $100 million.

Downfall came because the writing veered towards films like Apocalypse(Mystique as XMen leader?), Dark Phoenix(Sophie T instead of Famke J),The New Mutants...moving away from the performance-oriented stories of the mutants&established actors in the 1st/2nd trilogies/solo trilogy.

What would have been interesting would be the prequel to LOGAN re the extinction of most of the mutants in the hands of Prof X.
Disney bought all the FOX assets, incl the rights to the XMen films... the future now lies with them. Deadpool&Wolverine will test that decision!

The Mystique thing pisses me off on many levels. They'll say they pushed the character because Jlaw was a popular Oscar actress, but so was Halle Berry, but they shelved Storm. A character that actual led the Xmen in the comics. More studio fuqery.

Studios will of course prioritize film box office success &sometimes award-winning possibilities, not usually fan service. To be honest, I did not find anything exceptional about the casting of Halle B as Storm ( not sure a solo movie on her would be successful, box office-wise).

Btw, the last movie that followed the original trilogies was LOGAN! It has Hugh Jackman in it. Successful in the box office, successful as a highly-rated film (& nominated for Oscar screenplay)& people saying the top trio in the film deserved acting honors!

Sad to say that many social media posts show personal opinion not usually backed by empirical proof!

Like the above pinning the decline of the XMen movies due to the focus on Wolverine & Hugh Jackman.

Interesting that Apocalypse director Bryan Singer, as an afterthought ( when he realized the injustice to the Wolverine character by putting Mystique as leader of the XMen), created that long cameo showing Wolverine in his "Weapon X character" before his evolution to the Wolverine we saw in the first XMen film or even relating it to the Origins: Wolverine story. I wonder who put Simon Kinberg in charge of the writing - he is as much to blame for the decline of the movies towards the end, starting with the highly-touted Apocalypse!

Btw, he was one of the greeters on Hugh's recent birthday, calling him "Hughverine".

I wonder if Hugh even talked to him after he switched the leadership role in Apocalypse from Wolverine to Mystique. Hugh was disappointed because he said at the stagedoor of The River that he was hoping to have a role ( a major one, presumably) in APOCALYPSE.

Unfortunately, Kinberg is still involved in the new film project (Deadpool & Wolverine).

“Deadpool 3” director Shawn Levy doesn’t know if the film will still make its planned release date of May 3, 2024 given the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, which went into effect on July 14, 2023.

In an interview with TheWrap for his upcoming limited Netflix series “All the Light We Cannot See,” all Levy could say about “Deadpool 3” is that he’s shot and edited half the film.

“I wish I knew. I don’t even know if we officially have . I know we were gonna be May 3,” Levy said of the superhero sequel, which stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. “Certainly, the actors’ strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk. We’ve shot half the movie. I’ve edited half the movie. We’re dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year.”

EXCLUSIVE: In one of the first major blows to the 2024 theatrical release schedule due to the ongoing actors strike, sources have told us that 20th Century Studios’ Deadpool 3 won’t be making its May 3, 2024, start-of-summer, theatrical release date. Even if the strike ends in the next few weeks, a 2024 re-start on the half-finished Deadpool 3 will not get the Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman threequel to a May opening date.

There’s just too much to do in regards to re-assembling crew, etc. Note, this is just the beginning for 2024 titles; other studios have yet to play the game of three-card monte with their most notable films which are in similar positions as Deadpool 3.


What happens to the start of the summer now?

There is a long shot per sources that Captain America: Brave New World, which was originally on May 3rd, and then pushed to July 26, actually moves back because it’s in better shape than Deadpool 3, having finished production.

Disney typically holds onto highly coveted release dates, therefore if Deadpool 3 doesn’t go to July 26, then there are other options, such as early November, which has been rich to Marvel with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ($859.2M WW) and Thor: Ragnarok ($855.3M WW) or Dec. 20, 2024; which is where Marvel Studio’s Thunderbolts is already dated. Marvel paused start of production on Thunderbolts back in May as Deadline first reported due to the onset of the WGA strike.

The previous two Deadpools were release under 20th Century Fox, and the third film here is the first hatched under the Kevin Feige-run Disney owned Marvel Studios, post-merger. The Deadpool franchise stands at $1.56 billion WW and broke ground for R-rated Marvel movies with mass audiences.

“I wasn’t going to mess with the DNA of that franchise,” Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy told Deadline at TIFF about his approach to the threequel. The filmmaker is the third to take on the Merc with a Mouth after the first pic’s director Tim Miller, and second director, David Leitch.

“Our movie is raw, audacious, very much R-rated and we went to great lengths to not shoot it on sound stages with digital environments,” Levy teased.

“We wanted something that felt, grounded, real…You put Hugh Jackman in his most iconic character alongside Ryan Reynolds in his most iconic character; it’s more of a descendant of Midnight Run, and 48 Hours, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles more than it’s a descendant of Airplane.”

While certain prolific movies such as Taylor Swift: Eras Tour ($92.8M opening), Nun II ($32.6M), and Equalizer 3 ($34.6M) didn’t see their openings greatly impacted by the actors’ strike, distribution sources believe the thespian walkout, and the fact that they can’t promote, has diluted ticket sales. Several notable movies did not perform up to snuff, i.e. The Creator, A Haunting in Venice, and Dumb Money to name a few.

As Deadline reported earlier today, the town’s biggest stars offer to kick in $150M over three years to end stalemate between AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA.

Disney did not return request for comment on the above news. The studio hasn’t made official the news of Deadpool 3 moving.

They will likely make an official announcement if and when the actors strike end!


How will this affect Hugh?

*Will he need to continue his diet and weight buildup training? Can he pause that...or just slow it down?

*Can he accept a small indie project? Most likely not. There are dire predictions that the strike may last till the year ends? Even if it ends by end-October, there may not be enough time to do pre-prod & filming?
