So🙃I'm hearing that some things have been put aside and aren't in the current cut of DP&W. So far, they are very pleased with what they currently have and will be adding on in time.

Currently, DP&W sits just a bit over 2 hours. Other runtimes floating around atm are false.

It's at the Edit Suite that can break or make a movie successful! Post-production includes many other elements but the Edit Suite is the most key.

It's good that the pace seems to be good -- we are still 4 months from release of the film. There was an announcement of some reshoots ( some identified when editing), so they would have enough time for it.

I remember the photo-finish EDIT for Les Miserables & for The Greatest Showman, practically almost ending at the time of the world premieres.

There's good word about the movie, including from Disney's top boss ( Bob Iger) -- hopefully, everything goes smooothly now.

I was looking up what Emma Watts ( former top exec at Fox who was shepherding the XMen franchise before the Disney buyout, Planet of the Apes, Greatest Showman, Logan, Avatar, etc) is doing now -- not able to find anything...but unearthed a few things --

*She was the one who brought back Bryan Singer for Days of Future Past.
*Asked for the reason for its success -- " I think the reason for Days of Future Past‘s success is, it doesn’t underestimate what the audience is wanting or capable of enjoying".

The secret of her strong success record at Fox.

I hope that after the recent strong stockholder fight at Disney that they are more considerate with how they may want to incorporate some of their DEI messaging and that is not being rammed down the throats. I hope that Feige sees the fan reactions (if they can attend) as well as the theatrical distributors at Cinemacon presentation this week... that he knows the distributors consider the fans as a formidable factor in box office results, when they finish the Deadpool & Wolverine movie. I hope that there will be no unwelcome DEI push in the upcoming reshoots, as rumored. Maybe that is why Ryan & Hugh will be there ( presumably because Levy is being honored as Director of the Year) to show Feige how strong their influence with the distributors is!

Btw, Cinemacon ( formerly Showest) is the convention of cinema or theatrical distributors. In 2006, Hugh Jackman was honored there as Star of the Year because he had 6 film releases that year. Hugh also attended the European Cinemacon in Barcelona - I think that was the time they were pushing Greatest Showman at the conceptual stage.

*probably more artistically-satisfying indies
*probably another movie musical
*probably a major dramatic movie or 2 or 3
*probably limited engagements on Broadway

that is why it is satisfying to know that he has such a wide range and remarkable versatility.

Plus I would like him to have more time for himself and his loved ones... and maybe take care of himself physically as he enters his golden years!

Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy are more than just actor and director to each other. As the Deadpool & Wolverine director tells PEOPLE, “Ryan and I have become extremely close friends.”

How much time does the dynamic duo spend together? “A lot,” says Levy, 55, at CinemaCon on April 11. “More than I've spent with any male friend since literally high school.”

The two Canadian filmmakers live in New York City “half a block from each other," he says, "so it's all very intertwined — which makes it very convenient for two guys who work as hard as we do.”

Reynolds, 47, has collaborated as both star and producer with Levy on 2021’s Free Guy, 2022’s The Adam Project and now Deadpool & Wolverine, reprising his role as the irreverent Marvel Comics character.

On the set of his 2011 movie Real Steel starring Jackman, recalls Levy, “Hugh said, ‘For what it's worth, if you ever meet and work with Ryan Reynolds, you're never going to stop.’"

“That was 2010,” he adds with a grin. “Hugh Jackman, the prophet — a little known special talent.”

What does Levy remember about meeting Reynolds and watching Jackman’s prophecy come true? “I met Ryan about a movie we didn't end up making together — that I'll never name — and we just had an ease with each other,” he tells PEOPLE. “But it really, really manifested on our first time [sitting] down to talk about Free Guy.”

He continues: “It was a script that was about video gaming, but we had other themes and messages in mind. And we just connected in terms of wanting to give audiences a movie that transports them, makes them laugh, and isn’t embarrassed about being big-hearted.”

Deadpool & Wolverine features Reynolds’ masked anti-hero forging a testy friendship with Jackman’s mutant — a character he first played in 2000’s 20th Century Fox movie X-Men and had retired in 2017 before agreeing to join the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Levy says that the philosophy he and Reynolds bonded over and brought to Free Guy continued with their new collaboration. “Maybe it’s our shared Canadian-ness,” he quips. Deadpool & Wolverine “is funny as hell. It is audacious. It is action-packed and gnarly. But it's ultimately a character journey of these two characters and it's big-hearted in the telling of that story.”

Before receiving the Director of the Year Award from CinemaCon in Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace April 11, Levy previewed a sequence of footage from Deadpool & Wolverine. The crowd glimpsed Reynolds’ Wade Wilson attempting to create a normal life before being convinced by Matthew Macfadyen's Time Variance Authority agent to undergo a mission — one that relates to Disney’s Marvel properties themselves.

Ray Chan, a longtime production designer on some of Marvel‘s biggest films, died this week, according to a statement Friday from Marvel Studios.

Chan was best known for his work on multibillion-dollar Marvel blockbusters such as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame as well as the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine.

That film’s producer and star, Ryan Reynolds, said in a statement to Deadline that Chan was “as valuable a creative force on Deadpool & Wolverine as the writers, director and stars. … He built worlds from scratch — and did so in the most collaborative and inclusive ways. Ray was peerless.”

He was a talented collaborator who brought creativity and attention to detail to every frame of every movie he worked on, and who was able to bring out the best in each department he worked with,” said Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito in a joint statement. “He was the nicest human being and was such a pleasure to work with, hugely generous, and the kind of person who could take the seed of an idea and turn it into something beautiful. We are devastated by his passing. He will be missed by everyone at Marvel, and our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends.”



Chan began his relationship with Marvel Studios in 2013 with Thor: The Dark World as supervising art director. He went on to be supervising art director on Guardians, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, Infinity War, and Endgame. He was also an art director on Spider-Man: Far From Home, as well as production designer on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania additional photography and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine.

There’s an unmatched reservoir of skill, surprise, tender grit and talent the film community will never again witness. He was as valuable a creative force on Deadpool & Wolverine as the writers, director and stars.

I don’t pretend to know every chapter of Ray’s heart, but I know it’s unusual to encounter someone with that level of artistry, who simultaneously moved through the world with such indelible humanity.

The last time I saw Ray was exactly two weeks ago. One of last things I said to him was that he makes magic and there’s nobody on earth like him. He and I would also give each other a lot of good natured shit. So… of all the last things you could say to someone you adore, that’s a little scrap of consolation I’ll hang onto forever.

Chan is survived by his wife, Lindsay; and his children, Caspar and Sebastian.

This time, it is Hugh Jackman directly who is involved in the argument with Joy Behar!

The irony is that in the past - HJ was always a favorite in The View -- initially with Barbara Walters...and later on with Joy Behar!

I guess the contentious issue of FORCED DEI was the major issue. And after all that had gone before, it would be awkward for Hugh to appear on the show even without the issue of DEI.

As rumored, Disney was trying to incorporate a female Wolverine in the third act of the movie... who would supposedly fight & defeat Hugh's Wolverine. True or not - that sounds like destroying the image of the uber-masculine Wolverine? Laura or X-23 was different because she was Wolverine's progeny.  Hopefully, if there will be cameos or a brief appearance, Laura would be the female Wolverine.

It looks like the dreaded changes by Disney to DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE are going to happen. The studio is bent on watering down some of Wolverine's war scenes and other changes to which the creative team are not agreeable.




It is suspicious that Disney may be making the reshoots without the main creatives and actors? How come Hugh is still in New York?

My personal opinion (take it or leave it!) --

Hope Iger and Feige eventually regret what they are forcing to do away with the creative focus of this movie -- hope Nelson Peltz comes back with a vengeance!

Hugh Jackman had better refocus his future films away from DISNEY!

It may continue to clash with his artistic aspirations.

Animated filmmaker John Musker — who directed such Disney films as “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin” and “Hercules” — called out the Walt Disney Company for prioritizing political messaging over story in its recent films.

“I think they need to do a course correction a bit in terms of putting the message secondary, behind entertainment and compelling story and engaging characters,” Musker told Spanish outlet El País at this year’s Animayo International Summit in Gran Canaria, Spain.

“The classic Disney films didn’t start out trying to have a message. They wanted you to get involved in the characters and the story and the world, and I think that’s still the heart of it,” Musker added. “You don’t have to exclude agendas, but you have to first create characters who you sympathize with and who are compelling.”


Musker has collaborated with fellow director Ron Clements on several Disney animated features, including “The Great Mouse Detective” (1986), “The Little Mermaid” (1989), “Aladdin” (1992), “Hercules” (1997), “Treasure Planet” (2002) and “Moana” (2016). Musker and Clements also helmed 2009’s “The Princess and the Frog,” which was met with mixed reception over the depiction of Disney’s first Black princess.

“We weren’t trying to be woke, although I understand the criticism,” Musker said of “The Princess and the Frog.”

The animated filmmaker then shared his thoughts on Disney’s live-action remakes. “Companies are always like, ‘How do we reduce our risk? They like this, right? We’ll just do it again and sell it to them in a different form,'” he said. “Or they think, ‘Well, we could make it better.’”

He specifically criticized the 2023 live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid,” saying, “They didn’t play up the father-daughter story, and that was the heart of the movie, in a way. And the crab — you could look at live animals in a zoo and they have more expression, like with ‘The Lion King.’

“That’s one of the basic things about Disney, is the appeal,” he continued. “That’s what animation does best.”

Despite the delays caused by the writers and actors strikes, despite the rumored disagreements on how this movie is going vs some Disney DEI policies, etc -- there is enough time left before the movie is released and even before the promotion tour starts!
