The official site also released this other behind the scenes video. I can see why everyone is talking about how beautiful the movie looks: youtu.be/j2DuvXvJFL8Sue

My heart breaks at the emotion that that scene and that song and that voice evoke!

Suddenly... My heart breaks at the emotion that that scene and that song and that voice evoke! Thanks. Jo It looks and sounds beautiful. That will be an extra pack of tissues for me! It fits that moment in his life so perfectly. I don't understand the cynics who have just passed it over as okay, or not even that. In the book this is the place in the story where his heart gets opened for the first time. Most of the movie adaptations have just glossed over this. One minute he rescues little Cosette and the next she's all grown up. I'm so glad Tom Hooper recognized this hole in the musical and filled it. I really hope we get to hear him sing it at the Academy Awards! On a side note, a friend called me last night and said she'd stop by on the weekend to give me a package she put together for me for our family Christmas trip to see Les Miserable. She didn't tell me all but she said it includes some small red/white striped containers like the old popcorn boxes back in the day, so we can all share a big bucket of popcorn and she found a big box of the little packets of tissues so I can hand them out to everyone. She said it's more than enough for us, so I could share them with other people sitting nearby if needed. Perfect friend! Sue

I also have something to share, Sue -- Today I got in touch with a longtime friend whose husband is very famous here because he was part of the rebel soldiers who started our own people power revolution. She told me that after 26 years since it happened, he ( and presumably some of his rebel friends) has finally written a book on their participation in that historic event and they were sending me a copy. I know him very well -- as after his heroic participation ( he was the highest decorated hero for that momentous time), he became another rebel because the new government did not address some of their advocacies. Long story short - during his time in the underground I sent him a copy of a CD of Les Miserables ( London OCR), the book, and I think he also asked if I could spare a Les Mis t-shirt... He is quite an intellectual and loves to discuss political philosophy. Eventually, he had rejoined our society again - he is now a national senator and continues his advocacies on that forum. But today when I told my friend ( his wife) that Les Miserables was coming to town as a movie - she burst out excitedly : " You don't have to tell me - we know and we are going to see it. We have just watched the 25th anniversary concert - I know you once shared a copy of the 10th one... Even my youngest son, now a grown man, has said that he remembered watching the show when he was little...and everyone in the family is planning to see the film" ( including her sister in law, another writer, who actually saw Hugh in A Steady Rain). Wow - that book and CD actually bore fruit! Btw, their youngest daughter, also grown up, is my godchild. She is studying music and loves Broadway musicals Jo

Chris Evans of BBC Radio 2 interviews Hugh ( whom he calls "unbelievably and annoyingly handsome") and plays part of "One Day More" from the movie --- www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01p3mmpClick on the left hand box to "listen again" -- Hugh appears on the show at around 1'38". Jo

What a wonderful story...and talk about connections with Les Miserables!!! Is his book available to the general public and is it in English or Tagalog? I'd love to read it. I think I mentioned once (old board) that I once had a Filipina roommate for a few years a long time ago. I still make chicken or pork adobo at least once a month! I do remember very well that period in your history. Let me know if you get any more info on the book, and how you like it when you read it. Thanks so much for sharing this, Sue

Jo Wonderful, fun interview. Who knew Amanda was such a little devil. I started crying at the end when they played One Day More. The first time we've heard Aaron at all and he sounded great! I wish they had played the whole thing. I wonder if they got that clip from the CD? I'd assume that radio stations would already have a broadcast copy of it. I was going to hold out for the full version CD but now I'm rethinking because I don't want to wait till March to hear the CD version of these songs. ODM sounded a bit different then the bit what we saw/heard in one of the clips. I think they may have taken the best sung versions of each song for the CD as opposed to the movie version. Thoughts? Someone posted on BWW that the film version of One Day More was so much better ... and speculates that the version posted on the Evans show might have been one of the production takes only. Here's another cute interview with British media-- www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XUq90pq5ho&feature=youtu.beLooks like Amanda was the liveliest of the group! Jo

Sorry, don't know where to put this. I know we talked about Russell's show before but I don't remember where. Anyway he just tweeted this and I'm wondering if Hugh is going to be one of the "guests in the back pocket": Russell Crowe @russellcrowe NYC Indoor Garden Party 2 and 3 tonight at Joe's Pub in the Public Theatre on Lafayette , couple of great guests in the back pocket Anyone going??? The two shows sold out very fast - within the hour, I think. Hugh is back in NYC, but he may have to do more Les Mis promotions. NYC premiere is on Dec 10 and there are some important nominations to be announced in the same week ( SAG and Golden Globes). And he has that Museum of Moving Image tribute coming up on Dec 11. But who knows -- it is his friend Rusty Jo

In this interview, I think Hugh was referring to the scene for the above photo clip ...the one they shot at 1:00 am www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_ufTKHM188He said that if he reprises his one-man show, he might add some Valjean songs to the repertoire. Jo

You mean his new publicist Rusty !! LOL Absolutely right! I've been very impressed with how much Russell has been singing the praises of Hugh's performance. I'll bet he has a lot of friends who are voting members, so I hope he's doing a lot of campaigning with all of them too. Sue

Jo I was trying to picture what it could be too...Love that picture by the way...The Bring Him Home reprise seems to be done indoors so I thought maybe the finale (which apparently is done completely different from the early filming videos we saw) because that is done outside and when they shot those scenes it was still winter because Anne was there. Lately I've been wondering if the whole finale video fiasco was just a ruse to keep the actual way they filmed it a secret. If so, it seems to have worked because the shots we see now in those new featurettes are almost completely different from those early shots. That guy interviewed the other stars too and in the one with Amanda, at about 3:03 asks her if she has met people who are full of love like Cosette and she immediately says Hugh Jackman and adds "and also Anne Hathaway" and how much they are like their characters. She said something similar about Hugh in another interview too. youtu.be/9fJl5wUSbMMSue

What I've come to know about Hugh Jackman, he is very much like the character of JVJ.

Among the new featurettes is about makeup and hair and includes this sight of an emaciated Hugh -- what he has to do for his art ( and yet, he was not outspoken about it) I wonder if this is seen in the film itself? Jo

I can´t wait to see the confrontation in the movie. They have obviously a fun doing it here and you still see both of them giving it all. Loved the hug in the end.
It looks like most of the other actors are campaigning for Hugh...I don´t think I have ever seen such an admiration for another actor (an honest one, I mean). Even Helena Bonham Carter said she went to do it only to work with Hugh.
