Thanks Annetter, I missed it yesterday. In several articles I've read where they say Anne is a "shoe in" for the Oscars and don't even mention Hugh. I wonder what movie they were watching. As Tom Hooper said "There would we no Les Mis without Hugh Jackman". Not that Anne and all the other didn't do a wonderful job, but I guess we, me, expect more kudos for Hugh. I guess they'll come soon enough. Jackie

Sorry to dampen your enthusiasm, Jackie, but most of the acting hype ( and even singing hype) has been pegged on Anne, from all quarters.
But I am hopeful about Hugh as he does carry the movie - and in his case, it seems he has worked very hard on giving a definitive acting performance. Let's hope for the best!

LES MIZ was all over the place on entertainment news shows today: "E News" (repeated from yesterday), "The Insider" and "Access Hollywood." They all pretty much showed the same interview bits and film clips. "Access Hollywood" is going to run interviews with Hugh and Anne on Monday as well.

HUGH JACKMAN TO BE HONORED WITH STAR ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME WHO: Hugh Jackman Emcee: Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, President/CEO Leron Gubler Guest speakers: TBD WHAT: 2,487th Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Category of Motion Pictures WHERE: 6931 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Madame Tussauds Hollywood WHEN: Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. The star ceremony event will be live-streamed on www.walkoffame.com HOLLYWOOD, CA—Hollywood Chamber will honor Hugh Jackman with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, December 13, 2012. His star will be unveiled at 6931 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Madame Tussauds Hollywood where his wax figure depicting him as Wolverine is on display. “Fans from around the world have been consistently asking when this star will be dedicated,” said Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez. “We are happy to say that now is the time! Hugh is one of the world’s most popular actors and we are excited that he is joining our Walk of Fame family.” Australian native, Hugh Jackman made his first major U.S. film appearance as Wolverine in the first installment of the “X-Men” franchise, a role he reprised in the enormously successful X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006. Most recently in the franchise, he played Wolverine in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which serves as a prequel to the popular series and grossed an outstanding $85 million domestically in its first weekend of release in May 2009. Audiences will again see Jackman in the popular role in the next X-Men chapter titled The Wolverine, which just wrapped in Australia. Jackman will next star in the much-anticipated film adaptation of the hit musical, Les Miserables, directed by Tom Hooper (of The King’s Speech), co-starring Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe. The Universal Pictures film is slated for wide-release on December 25, 2012. Most recently, Jackman lent his vocal talents to the DreamWorks family holiday adventure, Rise of the Guardians. He also starred in director, Shawn Levy’s successful robot boxing drama, Real Steel in October 2011. Jackman made his return to the Great White Way in his one-man show “Hugh Jackman – Back on Broadway” in the Fall of 2011. Backed by an 18-piece orchestra, the revue, which previously opened to rave reviews during its limited engagements in San Francisco and Toronto earlier that year, was comprised of both Broadway hits and a selection of some of his personal favorite standards. Although the show ran only until the end of the year, Jackman’s continued dedication to the Broadway community was feted at the 2012 Tony Awards, where he received a Special Award from the Tony Awards Administration Committee, recognizing his accomplishments both as a performer as well as a humanitarian. In the fall of 2009, Jackman appeared on Broadway in the Keith Huff penned “A Steady Rain.” Co-starring Daniel Craig, the play tells the story of two Chicago cops who are lifelong friends and whose differing accounts of a few traumatic days change their lives forever. On February 22, 2009, Jackman took on the prestigious role of hosting the 81st Annual Academy Awards. Live from Hollywood, he wowed those in attendance and helped ABC score a 13% increase in viewership from the previous year. This wasn’t, however, Jackman’s first foray into Awards show hosting. Previously, Jackman served as host of the Tony Awards three years in a row from 2003 – 2005, earning an Emmy Award for his 2004 duties at the 58th Annual ceremony, and an Emmy nomination for his 2005 appearance at the 59th Annual ceremony. In late 2008, Jackman headlined the 20th Century Fox’s romantic action-adventure epic, Australia directed by Baz Luhrmann. The film, set in pre-WWII northern Australia, sees Jackman as a rugged cattle driver who assists an English aristocrat (played by Nicole Kidman) in driving a herd of 2000 cattle across hundreds of miles of rough terrain where they must also face the Japanese bombing of Darwin, Australia. Additional film credits include: Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain, Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige, Woody Allen’s Scoop, Happy Feet, Flushed Away, Deception, Someone Like You, Swordfish, Van Helsing, and Kate and Leopold, for which he received a 2002 Golden Globe nomination. For his portrayal of the 1970s singer-songwriter, Peter Allen in “The Boy From Oz,” Jackman received the 2004 Tony Award for Best Actor in a musical as well as Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World awards. Previous theater credits include: “Carousel” at Carnegie Hall, “Oklahoma!” at the National Theater in London (Olivier Award nomination), “Sunset Boulevard” (MO Award - Australia's Tony Award) and Disney's “Beauty and the Beast” (MO Award nomination). Jackman's career began in Australia in the independent films Paperback Hero and Erskineville Kings (Australian Film Critics' Circle Best Actor award and The Australian Film Institute Best Actor nomination). In 1999, he was named Australian Star of the Year at the Australian Movie Convention. Jackman is involved in various aspects of philanthropy and works with Laughing Man Worldwide, Harlem Village Academies and World Vision to name a few.<<<Jo

That is obvious - Aaron is usually ahead in the BWW and the Broadway.com polls whenever they are held re Les Miserables.
But sadly, he is not among those being campaigned for an award by Universal. Plus he is not getting the same publicity as the rest of the team.

Hugh Jackman Interview For ‘Les Misérables’
Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, ‘Les Misérables’ tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption – a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Hugh Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Russell Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Anne Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever. ‘Les Misérables’ is the motion-picture adaptation of the beloved global stage sensation – itself an interpretation of Victor Hugo’s epic novel - seen by more than 60 million people in 42 countries and in 21 languages around the globe and still breaking box-office records everywhere in its 27th year. Helmed by Academy Award-winning director Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech), the film also stars Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Samantha Barks as Eponine, Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Sacha Baron Cohen as Monsieur Thenardierto, and Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thénardier. ’Les Misérables’ arrives in cinemas from December 25th in the US and January 11th in the UK. For me, Jean Valjean is very much an archetypal redemptive hero. How do you yourself look at your character? He’s a man who goes through a huge amount of conflict in this story? Hugh Jackman: Jean Valjean is one of those, he’s a very humble man who constantly feels like he’s falling short. And here, the journey of his life, the journey of this story is actually about acceptance of himself, acceptance of the world that he’s in. And also finding love. Everyone in this musical is fighting a battle. Sometimes that’s within themselves, sometimes that’s in their life, with their circumstances. But there’s difficulties for everybody. And for me, in all the things I’ve done, I’ve never had a role that required more of me in a concentrated period. It requires everything I’ve done. All of the things I’ve done leading up to this, whether it’s the stage work or the film work, it all came together for this role and for this movie. It was the most demanding thing I’ve ever done, physically, emotionally, vocally – but it’s also probably the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. And with Jean Valjean, we live in a world where there’s a lot of movies about superheroes – I play one of them (laughs), but to me Jean Valjean as a character is a real hero. He’s about as good a man as I can imagine. Playing him is daunting because he’s certainly been lower, he’s had more obstacles than I’ve ever had in my life by a mile, and he rises above them. Playing him, with his humility, his courage, and ultimately his love and service for those around him, I see him as a model. What do you think it is about this story and these characters that gives it that enduring quality, something that’s so relatable for over a 100 years? Hugh Jackman: It’s an epic tale and what Victor Hugo’s done so brilliantly is actually tell the story of the human condition. That it’s never easy, it’s never always happiness, it’s never always roses. It’s light and shade, it’s up and down. There’s always a question of how do we get through, how do we elevate ourselves and be the best version of ourselves, you know? And it doesn’t always work, you see that in ‘Les Misérables,’ some people fail, and that’s why I think people relate to it. And it’s very much about the importance of love and family. Themes of love, hope, grace, redemption, justice….they’re timeless themes. And the book, the portrait of human nature is as good as I’ve ever read. ‘Les Misérables’ is set to the backdrop of revolution, of great societal change in 19th century France. How do you think that backdrop assists the story? Hugh Jackman: All the stories that really resonate and become timeless, somehow they have a backdrop of something bigger. You have all these human stories, but it’s set amongst this world where we find France in tumult, under incredible change. It’s post French revolution but the ideas that we now know as normal with democracy haven’t fully taken hold. There’s a real battle on a societal level, not only on the individual level. The aspect of singing live in this film, how does that add to the story emotionally for you? I can imagine that was a great challenge when shooting on long days? Hugh Jackman: Oh yeah (laughs). To me, acting through song is instinctive. For it’s to transcend just the musical notes, it needs to come from thought and emotion. The idea of replicating something you did three months before in a music studio, it’s like handcuffs for an actor. It was fantastic and it was challenging – a shooting day can be 12 hours long, but we were taking very good care of. I thought it was masterstroke of Cameron Mackintosh (producer) and Tom Hooper to allow us to sing live. The idea of singing live is daunting, but what it gives you is freedom. I can take a break, I can move on, I can speed up, I can slow it down – which means I just have to worry about acting it. Everything you sing is thought, it’s emotion first. So the song has to be so within you, within your bones, so that you never think you’re singing. If you’re thinking about singing then you’re not communicating just the thought. It has to feel real and it has to feel immediate, and with the way Tom Hooper has decided to capture it, I think it does. It’s like that old-fashioned Hollywood movie, that Hollywood find riskier and riskier to make. I feel so fortunate to be a part of it. I’d been waiting a long time to do a movie musical. Never did I dream this one would come at just the perfect time. What was it like working with director Tom Hooper on ’Les Misérables’? Hugh Jackman: I think musicals are the Mount Everest of movie-making. I don’t think there’s anything more to difficult to pull off. I think by what Tom Hooper has done by taking it on, after winning an Oscar – you don’t have to take on a musical, you just won an Oscar (laughs)! But he’s pushed himself to go even further, and I applaud that. ‘Les Miserables’ really starts with Tom Hooper. It’s a directors medium, and the courage, the determination, the passion of the director….that’s what really sets the tone.

No matter how many times I vote the number doesn't change yet, ALL the numbers suddenly went down late yesterday except Russell's which shot up!! Very strange! Sue
