Jo, I don't know about the Philippines, but you're right about the NY time. Very exciting! Leno obviously remains a good friend; I'm glad he's doing the honors. I just hope that connection doesn't keep Hugh off the Letterman show.

But then, Hugh is not a beautiful female.

Just realized I posted my little spiel about this on the wrong thread. Well, here's another.
Leno's speech centered on how you don't really change with fame and fortune; those things only emphasize the kind of person you are, for good or ill; and in Hugh's case, it's all good. Very sweet. Hugh thanked the Jackman's Landing people, especially Pat, who started the Walk of Fame star-ball rolling--very gracious of him. Oscar didn't look too thrilled at the family photo, and even Ava seemed a little shy, although she did snap away with her own camera.
Congratulations, Hugh!
CarouselKathy, do you have any more tidbits to add from an in-person viewpoint?

Yay!!!
It is almost 4:00 am here -- but I watched the ceremony on live stream!
One of the first he acknowledged were the fans -- especially JackmansLanding and Pat -- for the efforts to get the project going! He also mentioned how his fans kept the show TBFO afloat when they thought they would not last beyond 6 weeks.
Hugh is mighty popular - three top studio top brass were there - from Fox (J.Gianopulos), Universal ( Ron Meyer), Dreamworks ( Jeffrey Katzenberg), Patrick Whitesell ( who is now co-chair of WME), the Les Mis contingent (Hooper, Anne, Amanda, Cameron was also there but did not see him) and of course his family ( Deb, Ava who was trying to get a picture of her Dad, and Oscar whohas grown so tall).
Hugh's always personable and his speech seemed very natural and relaxed.
Will I ever get to step on that particular STAR?? LOL - I have been to Hollywood only once!

:)It was a wonderful ceremoney and I do agree with Ellen that Oscar really looked like he didn't want to be there. Does anyone know if anyone from the Board was there? The other question I have to those who saw it is "Do you think they cut it off too soon?" or is that how long it lasts? Anyway, I'm really grateful that they streamed it, and as usual "He IS the nicest guy in Hollywood".

I was able to watch the ceremony at work, and Hugh's speech was incredibly gracious. I thought it was awesome when he thanked all of his fans. He has such a beautiful soul.

I had to leave for a meeting after his speech when they removed the cover from the star. I hope we hear from Kathy and Barb, glad they were able to attend. Look forward to photos, particularly of the family. What a crazy busy time. This event will stick in the kids memories and give them a slightly better appreciation of why he is hounded by the paps.

Ava wasn't her usual self today with everyone there. She sort of held back too. But she was taking pictures with her camera. Oscar just did not look happy at all.

Hi Everyone, Barb and I were in a good spot to say, "Congratulations"as Hugh walked in, and we each got a hand pat and, "Thank you Darlin'" in return. We were standing to the side along the curb of Hollywood Blvd. Anne, Amanda, Tom Hooper, and Jay Leno were signing autographs near us, but we were happy just to watch the festivities. Unfortunately, there was a very annoying character next to us who had many photos and objects to be signed. He was obviously one of the guys who sells these things on Hollywood Blvd. He kept screaming at Hugh to come over and sign more stuff. I was tempted to stomp on his foot "accidentally". Hugh seemed to purposely avoid our section because of this obnoxious individual, and I don't blame him. Hooray for Hollywood.
The ceremony was very nice, and Hugh especially thanked Jackman's Landing and Pat for starting the process several years ago. I wish we had known where Pat was standing. It would have been great to say, "Hello!" Deb and the kids looked great. Tom Hooper had a big smile on his face.
It didn't rain.

Thanks, Kathy, for your up close and personal observations. Too bad that lout was standing near you. But at least you got to be there in person and experience it. I didn't even realize that it had rained before and after the ceremony, as per Jay Leno's retelling on his show tonight. So the clouds broke for Hugh--well, that's only appropriate. Ellen

www.examiner.com/article/hollywood-culture-hugh-jackman-star-on-walk-of-fame-long-overdue--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- b]Hollywood culture: Hugh Jackman star on Walk of Fame long overdue? (Video)[/b] Hollywood Culture December 13, 2012 By: Kae Davis It's official. Actor Hugh Jackman finally got his own lucky star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "It's kind of a surreal day," Jackman told E! News. "I'll probably always remember Thursday, Dec. 13, and I think I'm either going straight from here to buy a lottery ticket or to a casino because it just feels like someone is looking down on me in a very nice way at this moment." Jackman rose to international stardom playing the character Wolverine in the X-Men movie series. Too tall for the part, the producers and directors were spot on to vary his appearance slightly from the comic book description. He's played the beloved Adamantium-infused super healer repeatedly now to the delight of both Marvel comics' fans and movie-goers. His latest movie "Les Miserables" has already earned him both a Golden Globe and SAG award nomination -- and it has not even hit movie theaters yet. The film, a musical, co-stars actress Anne Hathaway. It is supposed to be released nationally on Christmas Day 2012. After receiving the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Jackman quipped during celebrity interviews on television that it was his master plan for the past twenty-nine years or so to find out he'd been nominated for two awards on the same day they held the ceremony to celebrate his star. He laughed that now the star would be there forever more for people to walk over and spill their soda's on while smiling with adult pride and glint of childish delight in his eye. Regarding the actual physical location of the new Hugh Jackman star emblem, Nine MSN says, "Some celebrities get their stars in dodgy parts of the Hollywood Blvd strip, but the 44-year-old Sydney-born actor, the new king of Hollywood, had his star cemented on prime real estate outside the new Madame Tussaud's wax museum, located alongside Grauman's Chinese Theatre and a few steps from the theatre where the Oscars ceremony is held each year."------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ " the new king of Hollyood..." ;D As Max Kenton remarked, "Sounds pretty good to me" Jo

Am I losing my mind....I remember Hugh getting a star about 3 or 4 years ago - it was a very hot summer day - Jay was there - Deb & kids were there...Ava was little. Can someone clear the fog in my head on this? FYI - I was at the Leno Show tonight. Hugh looks pretty thin, perhaps fighting a bit of a cold...maybe just tired from all the activities of the past couple weeks. Of course he was wonderful. You can really tell he & Jay have a good connection. Its always such a good feeling to be in the company of truly GOOD people. And our Hugh is just the best!

In 2009, he was honored with having his hand/footprint on cement at the Grauman Chinese Theatre. That seemed like a more exclusive honor because they probably have to be more selective as they can fit in only a limited number on their piece of real estate This one is the Star on the Walk of Fame which stretches for a long area. Someone wrote that both Jackman memorabilia are situated fairly close to each other in prominent areas - which denotes the immense regard for our star Jo

He really is in prime real estate for the walk of fame. You have an historic hotel, Grauman's Chinese (where his footprints are located), Madam Tussauds, and the Academy (Oscars) theater. It truly was a great honor for placement.

How devastatingly gorgeous does he look in those photos? So glad he got a well-deserved, prestigious placement on the Walk of Fame.

Wonderful day for Hugh!!! Great ceremony and lovely words as always from Hugh. Sounds like the location couldn't be more perfect, like a place of honor for him! > I wonder how the locations get picked. It was very unusual to see Ava ducking back from the photo session. As for dear Oscar, he's soon to be a teenager...the scowling, 'I don't want to be here' face will become a semi-permanent fixture! 8-) Just one of the joys of having teens in the family. Then one day before we know it, he'll be a lovely, gracious, well brought up young man...with shades of his wonderful parents. Sue
