Let's compare him to Bale --

Bale is a dramatic actor who has also been Batman. He is a triple threat - see the movie NEWSIES, although he vows never to do another musical.

Does he do stage work? Both dramatic and musical theatre? I think Bale did some very early work on stage -but only in one role, if I am not mistaken.

And can he host events, such as the Oscars and the TONYs where part of the work is really acting out the role of master of ceremonies?

Hugh Jackman began the 2009 Oscars in just the right way, bringing to the show energy and Hollywood glamour that was leavened by just the right amount of irreverence. In one of Jackman’s most memorable bits, he sang that he hadn’t yet seen one of that year’s nominated movies, “The Reader,” but it was a joke played at his own expense, not one that lacerated Hollywood for making art films at all.

    Another person saying nice things about Hugh is Novak Djokovic. The Australian Open Tennis is on at the moment and the Channel 9 promos are using music from TGS to promote their telecasts. During a post match interview , Novak was praising Hugh and saying  "The Greatest Showman" should be there to help, or something to that effect. I have no doubt that H would have been there in Federer's box and Serena's( along with Anna Wintour) if he'd been in Oz. Unfortunately RF and Serena have both been eliminated but hopefully Djokovic will be holding up the trophy for a record number of times on Sunday. He has a great sense of humour and has been copying Aussie expressions such as fair dinkum, good onya and calling people "mate" . It'd be great fun if Hugh was able to turn up unexpectedly  to watch him.

Requiem for a Dream

"This is the most difficult film of all of them because of the weight changes and the prosthetics, to say nothing of all of the acting challenges. It took me an hour and half to get out of prosthetics at the end of shooting every day. But it was so wonderful to work with Darren Aronofsky, who I love. The film has had an enormous impact. I hear about it from strangers all over the world. It was unfortunate that it got a rating that made it difficult for young people to see it. I know parents who rented the film and brought it home for their kids, who weren’t allowed to watch it in the theatres, because it has a strong anti-drug message. It’s an important and masterful film. I was so happy when Darren asked me to be in another one of his films – The Fountain. He’s an unusual and brilliant filmmaker. And what a joy to work with Hugh Jackman."

I agree about Requiem for a Dream -- it was one of the most harrowing movies I have ever seen. I watched it because I was curious about Aronofsky who was due to direct Hugh in The Fountain shortly.

Remember Richard Grant from LOGAN? He played the head Doctor/Scientist who was experimenting on gene selection ( which created Dafne and X-24).

He has been Oscar-nominated for Best Supporting Actor ( Can you Ever Forgive Me?) and in this interview, he said this of Hugh --

The comments of director Cory Finley are note-worthy! His quote that Hugh is an incredibly transformative actor and such a technical actor underscores Hugh's natural talent and his long & deep training in the theatre ( especially in drama and classical theatre) and how he has futher learned by working with different excellent directors.

Ferguson has also shared screen space with many A-list stars, including Hugh Jackman who she worked with in two films, namely The Greatest Showman and Reminiscence. The celebrity spoke about her comfort level with Jackman and how she was able to completely be her authentic self while feeling extremely safe with him during many challenging scenes together.

The film saw both Ferguson and Jackman in completely different avatars to their earlier collaboration.

In an interview which appeared in DT Next, Ferguson spoke about her experience working on the project and her rapport with Jackman. The Dune actor was effusive in her praise for the Marvel alum and his graciousness on set. She stated that the comfort level she shared with Jackman allowed her to express herself as authentically as possible without any embarrassment.

“I CAN TRY THINGS OUT. I CAN BE RIDICULOUS. I CAN HUMILIATE MYSELF AND STILL BE SO EMBRACED AND FOR HIM, JUST HOLDING SPACE FOR ME. AND HOPEFULLY HE FEELS THE SAME ABOUT ME.”

This camaraderie with the Deadpool 3 actor created a safe space for Ferguson to give it her all in many difficult and challenging scenes in the film, which she admitted was a pleasure to share with Jackman.
