This is cute from his time in Korea. A lot of Korean language but the interview parts with Hugh are English plus the bit at the end.

TOP GEAR is all about speedy cars and or motorsports.

I've seen bits and pieces of some TG shows, but the only one I watched in its entirety was when the "helmeted" guy who was driving a guest (who was a diehard fan of motorsports) turned out to be 7-time world champion of Formula One, Michael Schumacher!

I wonder what kind of reasonably-priced-car he might be driving? I thought that since AUDI was a major placement sponsor in THE WOLVERINE that he would be driving an Audi...but maybe not?

Did anyone else watch the SKYPE session arranged by MSN? I caught the session five min or so into it -- but it was too short -- only 30 minutes of questions practically being all directed to Hugh. James M was also there.

It is so great to see how loved and admired Hugh Jackman is! So many Wolvie fans, young adult men and women ( one lady fan was brandishing the claws like she owned the character!). Some really prepared for it - you can see their Wolverine stuff in the background and even body art which Hugh says he will turn into a special T-shirt! And someone tweeted : We loved everything you said!

Hugh's heart must be so full when he sees such display of admiration and regard, surely one of great affection!

He must be one of the most loved entertainers in the world!

I just played that Korean interview again and caught something I hadn't heard before: They're about to "get another dog"? I can see it now, Hugh holding on to a leash in each hand, LOL. Good luck! We know they like French bulldogs; I wonder if they'll get another or branch out, breed wise?

Hugh Jackman's first car was called "the golfball" because of all the dents in it.

The hunky actor is currently in the UK promoting his new film Wolverine, in which he plays the lead superhero character.

As part of his promotional appearances, Hugh was interviewed for UK TV show Top Gear. On each episode a celebrity guest races around a course in a segment called 'Star In A Reasonably Priced Car'.

The 44-year-old followed in the tracks of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz to take on the test, but admitted his driving skills aren't that great.

"No one I grew up with ever gets in the car with me because I had so many accidents as a kid. In fact, my first car was called the golfball as it had so many dings in it," Hugh told BBC Radio 1.

"[On Top Gear] I didn't realise that air conditioning slows down your car. It was like 37 degrees inside. The guy was like, 'Either you're really bad, or you've got the air con on.' I turned the air con off and did another lap and I did way better."

The Australian actor has English-born parents. He's enjoying the warm weather while in the UK, as it reminds him of home. He joked about how excited the British people get when the sun comes out.

"It's an unbelievable time to be here. It's like being in Australia. I'm a sports man; I love Formula One. England has become the epicentre of sport. I have been coming here since I was 12 or 13 years old and I've been hearing that the summer of 1976 was the best one, well, I've been hearing that since I was seven years old. But now it's all about the summer of 2013," he joked. "I love it in England; as soon as it hits 16 degrees it's: shorts on, shirts off let's grab a beer in the street."

Hugh is obviously sports-mad. I wonder if he will ever get to portray the hero in a sportsman biopic ?

Nothing much new except talking a little about the summer weather in England, the summer sports events ( this year has been particularly great for British sportsmen), and his appearance on TopGear. He also managed to wangle tickets for his sister and family to see a screening of The Wolverine that evening in Manchester sponsored by the BBC program, because Zoe missed the London premiere. You may just like to listen to him goofing around...or just listen to his voice ).

Hugh Jackman fights for ‘Carousel’ film

LOS ANGELES—Despite the success of “Les Miserables,” Hugh Jackman is struggling to turn his dream project for years into a reality: a new film adaptation of the classic musical, “Carousel.”

“Yeah, I’d love to do that,” Hugh said of doing a movie of the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical that debuted in 1945 and a film version released in 1956. “That’s the one I’m fighting for. I still have to convince the people who pay for it.” As early as 2006, Hugh was reported to be planning to produce and star in the role of Billy Bigelow. Anne Hathaway was buzzed as the one Hugh wanted to play Julie Jordan.

In this interview, Hugh maintained that his passion project is still a no-go “but I think there’s more momentum for it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the film can still happen before I’m too old to play it (Bigelow).”

In the meantime, Hugh is back as the razor-clawed mutant in James Mangold’s “The Wolverine.” With majority of the latest installment of the mutant hero franchise shot in Japan, the cast includes key talents from that country. In her audition with Hugh, Tao Okamoto, a top model who’s making her film debut in the role of Mariko Yashida, ended up kissing the Australian star. “Please don’t tell my wife that,” Hugh joked when asked about the off-screen smooch. “It was in the script.”

He explained, “Both James and I said that I needed to come in for the auditions. We auditioned with quite a number of people. Tao naturally has the quality of Mariko, who’s very beautiful and has a very mysterious, enigmatic quality. But, she hadn’t been in a film, so she was nervous. Her English wasn’t bad. But, when she was reading the original script with me, her English seemed worse, so I just thought, forget the script, let’s just talk and keep the scene. At first, I could see her eyes were like, ‘Are we allowed to do this?’ Then, it sort of opened her up. She went along with it.

“Both James and I knew immediately that she was going to be perfect for the part. The fact that nobody, not even Japanese audiences, has seen her in a film—that’s going to be a real bonus.” But, how did the kissing come about? “I artfully neglected that in my answer,” he cracked.

On Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” where Hugh will also be back as Logan/Wolverine, he said, “There are some nice touches in it, and the way it parlays into days of future past is very clever.”

He added, “The first month of the film was like a great reunion with all those great actors—Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage and Omar Sy. It was unbelievable! Then, we go back to the past when it’s James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence. Every day is amazing.”

On what toll his fluctuating weight from film to film (sometimes, he goes to extremes—from emaciated to buff—in one film, as he did in “Les Miz”) does on his body, Hugh answered, “I’m asking that question, too. On some level, I’m training. I’m fit and healthy, but the losing and gaining weight rapidly is probably not very good. My friend, who’s a doctor, said, ‘You need to get checkups regularly if you’re going to change weight often like that.’”

Does one of Hollywood’s nicest guys ever bare his claws? Hugh replied, “Maybe this (Wolverine character) helps me. It’s good therapy.” He explained, “It’s little things with me. I’m actually quite patient, but when I do get angry, it’s not pretty.”

Hugh shares the Mr. Nice title with Tom Hanks. “He can have it,” Hugh quipped. Speaking of nice, he shared an anecdote about Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays Shingen Yashida.

He shared, “At the end of the day, I saw them—there were about 200 Japanese extras. I saw them lining up as they were leaving. I didn’t know what was going on. So I went. Around the corner, hiding, so no one else could see him, was Hiro. He was shaking the hand of every extra, thanking them and bowing to them for their work. That was another whole level of respect and humility!”

Asked for an update on his adopted daughter, Ava, the dad said, “She loves taking me to get a mani-pedi. What is it about daughters loving to see their fathers getting a mani-pedi? She loves to dance.”

“Ava’s very much like her mom—she’s full of bliss and joy,” he added. “She loves life!” Just like her father, too.

Thanks for the info still not sure but sounds like something Hugh would love doing. I was thinking it was the Audi too. I saw a video of an interview he did where he talked about racing around in the car and since it's been so hot in England he had the AC on which affected his car's performance. When he turned it off he did better. Guess I'll have to check it out.

Barb says, and I agree, that Hugh needs to say to FOX, "IF YOU WANT ANOTHER WOLVERINE, LET ME DO CAROUSEL." We all know that THE WOLVERINE will be a blockbuster. The bean counters at FOX are already counting $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. If there is anytime when Hugh can use his clout, it is now. You go, big guy!

Hugh must be media appearance-weary these days! He has to reckon with publicity for THE WOLVERINE and the advance buzz for DAYS OF FUTURE PAST at SDCC and has been working non-stop, including crossing continents as if it was just a matter of a tunnel or a bridge. But you'll never notice he is up for his umpteenth interview - because his responses are always well-thought and well-articulated.

James Mangold and Hugh seem like excellent working partners. Both excel in their craft and are both very committed and focused. I wonder if they will get together a third time in a completely different movie? Also, both can write scripts ( Well, Hugh was attempting to do a biopic of Bill Bixby once ...and James is known to have partly penned some of the movies he has helmed) -- and maybe they can even collaborate on a storyline. Have you noticed how very articulate both gentlemen are?

The one person who has been responsible for Hugh Jackman's career and yet has not been credited enough for it -- has been Lauren Shuler Donner! I am glad Hugh took the time to give that fulsome acknowledgement! It all started with how impressed she was with Hugh's Curly portrayal -- the most different personification of a character compared to the future movie character Wolverine. But she saw the talent and the potential! Maybe when I watch OKLAHOMA! once more, I will try to look more deeply into the characteristics that may have particularly impressed Ms. Donner ( and her husband who has co-produced with her sometimes) for her to push for Hugh when the early auditions did not impress Bryan Singer at all! I also laugh when I read how Bryan was initially dismayed with Hugh's " very theatrical way" of emoting on film when they first started filming...and somehow eventually gotten out of the theatre actor a film portrayal that has become a template for the next 5 XMEN-affiliated movies( er, actually 6, if you include his iconic cameo in First Class). But Ms. Donner kept the faith from Day One! So, thanks to Lauren Shuler Donner for playing such a key role to Hugh Jackman's film career! I hope they can continue to work in some future films again, even if Hugh and the XMen series lapse into memory at some time in the future?

I jsut saw a document where Lauren Shuller Donner said that she was the first woman who produced an action movie. Also, she and Hugh have a huge respect for each other, you can tell. I think she may try directing a movie, because I believe she could handle it

I was very touched by his tribute, via his comments, to Lauren. So typical of Hugh to not leave anyone out in his praise! I think maybe it was the fight scenes, as it was for me...the ballet & the real one...that were an indication of what he could do as Wolverine. As I've mentioned before, it was getting the DVD of Oklahoma! that made me fall in love with his talent and finally watch the X-Men that my son had been trying to get me to watch for a few years..."trust me, you'll like it"...LOL! Of course it was love at first viewing and now I have them all and for the frosting on the cake, my youngest grandson (7) just became hooked on the X-Men and will be accompanying the rest of us to the movie next week. We've come full circle!

Lenka, could you share the name of the documentary?? Was it Czech? I love documentaries and would love to see her in one. I'd wish she would direct. She's a very astute and talented woman and there are not enough woman directors around! Thanks for the info.
