Love Anne but would it kill Hollywood to come up with a new idea ... some musical that hasn't been on the screen before and isn't already a classic that will be doomed by comparisons between Anne and Audrey?

That news has been around for a while now. A previous article indicated that her Higgins would be Colin Firth, whom I like but is not really a singer, MAMMA MIA notwithstanding. Fortunately, Higgins' numbers have traditionally been talk-sung, in the Rex Harrison mode.

I know this idea keeps getting tossed around but ugh! I'm with Jamie, come up with something original please! It doesn't have to be an original musical, just one that hasn't been done...extremely well...already as a movie! I think the movie would be doomed before it opened just like if they remade Breakfast At Tiffany's! (one of my old faves) If they want to give Anne a chance to be like Audrey, and I think many already think that, they should do it with something new in both cases. Actually, I think she's doing pretty well playing Anne Hathaway! Sue

Actually for old movie musicals that weren't all that well done the first time around, I would go with Guys and Dolls or Brigadoon simply because so many good songs were left out of the film versions. Either one would make a great Hugh/Anne vehicle if someone wanted to capitalize on Les Miserables.
