Not that we're going to find any new ones, but things occasionally turn up that are "news" to me. Here's something from The Allen Brothers on the Aussie version of Bandstand. Apparently they were in their "Everly Brothers" phase - -

The Bandstand host was certainly no Dick Clark though LOL! Side note...I'm an idiot! I totally forgot that I could insert videos into the reply box I just put in a couple of links which I will go back and fix. Duh! Sue

How cute is that? On Peter's 18th birthday, no less.
This was a treat! Thanks, Valerie.

"News" to me --
1968 - The description says it's an American TV show, but I can't place it. Guess I was not aware until Peter went solo.

Chris and Peter Allen were frequent guest of The Merv Griffin Show. It aired every afternoon in the Baltimore market in the 1960s. I remember watching them on there. This clip isn't from that show though. Thanks, Valerie. That is a prize winner. Apart from being a really rare treat, the quality is outstanding. My BFF is doing very poorly so I was looking around for something cheery the other day and discovered this video interview. I haven't seen it before and I thought some of you might enjoy it. It's about a half hour, is quite candid and there were things I had never heard in other interviews with Peter. It's on Hulu and available for a free account so you don't have to have a paid account. I'm going to try to embed it here but if it doesn't work here's a link: www.hulu.com/watch/513820embedding didn't work Sue

So sorry to hear that your friend is not doing well. I frequently turn to Peter for a little "mood elevation" - he's good for what ails you. Always.
Thanks for the link to the interview. I'd never seen it before either. I'm sorry I never saw Up In One - east coast or west. I know there was a (severely truncated) TV version that only aired in Australia, but I've never found any audio or video of the US production. Have any of you???

I posted "Bryden's Song" (which was never officially recorded) on YouTube. At four in the morning, after performing two full shows, he's still going strong. Lovely song. Wonderful man. Enjoy.

"Just Another Make-Out Song" Stick around for the "interview" at the end... (from the "Solid Gold" show - early 1980s)

That was good. Thanks, Valerie. I always got a kick out of Wayland Flowers' "Madame." Eerie to think that both Flowers and Peter died way too soon at 48 of AIDS-related illness.

Someone posted a "new" oldie on YouTube... A performance on Dionne Warwick's TV show, 1988. Caught Between The Moon and NYC, and the ever ubiquitous RIO

I guess he had to go to "left HER way 'cross town" for the NBC censors. He always puts so much energy into "Rio." Great to see again, even with a relatively tame shirt, LOL. Thanks, Valerie.

I guess he had to go to "left HER way 'cross town" for the NBC censors. Hmmm. I hadn't thought about that, so I went back and listened to a few other versions. He usually does sing "her" not "him" - even at Fantasy Fest down in Florida. So I'm going to say it was his choice and not at the insistence of censors. The view from his living room in California. Does it look familiar?

He must have felt the need to self-censor most of the time, then. Emblematic of the era, it would seem.

The audio is painfully out of sync - but it's fun to watch Peter anyway. Same few songs over and over (Rio, EOINA) - but he seemed to be everywhere in the '80s.

he seemed to be everywhere in the '80s. He was, indeed everywhere that musical entertainment was called for. I don't think there are very many of his TV performances that I missed! Thanks, Valerie - it is always fun to watch him again. Carol

Ret got me thinking about Peter Allen's ultimate encore number. I always wished Hugh would find a way to incorporate this song into his performance - Peter's lyrics suit him so well.

"Audience" is my favorite Peter Allen song because it so beautifully sums up Peter's feelings about performing. You're right, Valerie - the lyrics also suit Hugh perfectly. Thanks so much for posting the video.

A clip from The Oscars (1982) with my favorite host, one of my fave Bette Midler quips (about her dress), and The Award going to Peter Allen (and the gang) for Best Song - The Theme from Arthur. Enjoy. (too bad he doesn't sing it) Here's a nice PLAYLIST someone made of other people performing Peter's songs. The first one up is scads of school kids doing a massive rendition of I Still Call Australia Home. [I'm not even Aussie, but that song still brings a tear to my eye.]

This kind of spontaneity is exactly what has been missing from the Oscar broadcasts the last few years. Bette showed that it's possible to have fun without the scripted banter that's required of the presenters. She sure is one of a kind. I can only imagine "what a blast" it must have been to have seen Bette Midler and Peter Allen performing together.

We've talked about this before - You And Me (We Wanted It All) - the song Peter wrote for Frank Sinatra. . .
This is Peter's story about how he wrote the song - audio only - (drat) Typical Peter - a 15 minute intro for a three minute song. The story is all over the place - Sinatra, Vegas, Helen Reddy, the Queen of England - but eventually, he does sing the song.
