Budapest and Prague are usual candidates for filming because of their well-preserved old-world atmosphere...and maybe they do offer the best filming incentives in the region. The ad was supposed to have taken place in HAMBURG ( Germany)in the 20's.

Montblanc is a German brand. It was founded in 1906 and is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany.

I wonder if Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco can act? She is well-educated and is a writer and magazine editor... and an environmentalist advocate...plus being a showjumping equestrienne. She is also the current face of Gucci.

After all, she is the granddaughter of OSCAR winner Grace Kelly -- there has to be something in the genes other than physical beauty

Why do I ask --

One of my favorite fantasy wishes for a Hugh role is to remake Gregory Peck's role in ROMAN HOLIDAY ( with Audrey Hepburn as the princess). Maybe he and Charlotte can make a good screen team as they seem to have good photographic chemistry. And she could be perfect as the princess who escaped from her royal existence to enjoy a commoner's life if only for a day?

I would love to see Hugh portray a modern day role in Europe, a bit of romcom, but more grounded ( if you have seen the movie, you know how it ends ).

While the 26th international exhibition of Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) currently underway in Geneva, the Montblanc House celebrated its 110 years at an exceptional evening where its ambassadors feuded with elegance.

It is at Restaurant Hôtel Parc des Eaux - bright, located in the centre of a beautiful park with old trees and with stunning views of Lake Geneva, that the House Montblanc celebrated its 110 years last Monday.


For the occasion, the manufacture the Richemont Group's flagship, has invited its prestigious ambassadors and other friends of the brand for a prestige dinner.


Australian actor Hugh Jackman, the granddaughter of Grace de Monaco Charlotte Casiraghi, actor Pierre Niney, actresses Guey Lun Mei and Macarena Gómez, the designer Marc Newson and the singer Aldo Comas including made the trip at the hotel 4 star Parc des Eaux-Vives.


All were able to savour a gala menu (fried mushrooms of the undergrowth, runny egg, Bacon crisp purslane in entries; Veal Tenderloin gold Saltire, chiffon sweet potato hazelnut Buttercream, salafis confis as a main dish and dessert apples revisited, fondant potatoes caramelized, Tatin juice foam caramel, hazelnut biscuit and vanilla ice cream).

That's a real cheat meal for Hugh

Lol - I figured maybe some are just wrong spellings when the names sound too exotic or Europe-cosmopolitan or simply French ( which I cannot understand, as this is culinary talk)

Since my favorite French dessert is TARTE TATIN, I figured it has something to do with apples? Tarte tatin is simply an upside down apple pie but caramelized and baked. I think tatin itself means "caramelized and baked in the manner of an upside-down cake". Maybe the menu was referring to tatin juice as apple juice - haha!

Hugh is a foodie and he must enjoy the high life occasionally! Too bad his Wolverine regimen interferes! Otherwise we might not see that six-pack!

He must enjoy being a brand ambassador for MONTBLANC -- remember that other dinner in Florence where there was a celebratory dinner at a grand place in the heart of Florence and the dining seemed superb! He also went to Hongkong for another Montblanc event and I am sure they must have also been served the best of Chinese haute cuisine!

Not only that - the image he projects adds to one of elegance, worldliness, and sophistication ( like he is auditioning for a James Bond role, at his most sophisticated best!).

Adele Uddo is a model whose job is to stay mostly out of the picture. On a cover shoot for Town & Country, for example, Hugh Jackman perched on apple crates while Ms. Uddo stood beneath him, arm raised, so the only part of her in the frame was her hand cupping his face, her slender fingers tousling his hair. David Yurman bracelets were taped to her forearm so they’d hang artfully (and not catch Mr. Jackman’s beard)...

There are worse places to be than at a dinner at the Rainbow Room with Hugh Jackman. In fact, some denizens of the Tri-State rain forest—our own mother wolf included—would prefer to be nowhere else. And it wasn’t exactly a mud pit or even a metaphorical one, but after “The Jungle Book,” a black-tie evening, celebrating the 110th anniversary of Montblanc, was kind of a drag and we did feel stuck there.

This was mostly because the event felt like a commercial in real life, if a black-tie dinner at the Top of the Rock with Charlotte Casiraghi can be considered “real life.” The company showed off how many Montblanc’s products are crafted during the cocktail hour, then guests moved onto the other side, for dinner.

In lieu of place cards, there was a printed seating plan. This was a particularly strange and corporate touch for a pen company that is attempting to uphold the wonders of handwriting.

On the seating chart, we were sitting at the “Le Serpent qui Danse” table, next to the actor Matthew Morrison. But in actual reality, or in this alternative reality, we found our seat wasn’t next to Mr. Morrison at all, but between two journalists.

What’s the point of a printed seating chart then? Did Mr. Morrison hear we hated “Finding Neverland,” and, even though he’s not starring in it anymore, asked to have us moved? Was someone more important?

See? It’s a jungle out there.

Among the other guests were Olivia Palermo and Kate Bosworth, the latter who had flown in for the evening.

“I’m learning all about design tonight,” said Ms. Bosworth, who will be back in New York both for the Crackle upfront and the Met Ball in early May. “I’m asking a lot of questions.”

In between tomato soup and filet mignon, Montblanc CEO Jérôme Lambert gave a confusing speech about three words that were particularly meaningful to the brand. They were “change,” “desire” and “life.”

Then, Mr. Jackman told a story about how John Travolta once instructed him to celebrate his anniversary at the Rainbow Room, which is what Mr. Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston do every year, except, presumably when it was closed for renovations. Although, you never know with famous people.

“So you’re under the impression that tonight is for Montblanc,” said Mr. Jackman. But the evening, he joked, was really to celebrate his 20th wedding anniversary with Deborra-Lee Furness, which is next week.

There was a collective swoon in the room, and then Mr. Jackman, a Montblanc ambassador, showed the “premiere” of the evening: a short film slash advertisement about the history of Montblanc.

Let’s just say it could have used some talking animals and a rendition, by Mr. Jackman, of “The Bare Necessities.”

I keep watching THE MONTBLANC STORY.

Hugh has never done a movie set in contemporary continental Europe - this Montblanc promo shows how much he fits into the settings of the great places in Europe.

Maybe in the not too distant future -- James Bond or more of something else

Btw, the real Mont Blanc --





I never knew ( until now) that the white logo on Montblanc products actually represents the snow-covered top of the famous mountain.

Trivia. The white stylised six-pointed star with rounded edges in the logo was inspired by the snowcapped peak of France's biggest mountain Mont Blanc.

I have always thought it was a flower of the Alps (maybe something like the edelweiss?)






I do have a story to tell about my Montblanc ( ballpoint pen only), which has Hugh's DNA on it after he signed my playbill and a copy of the playscript of THE RIVER ... but that belongs to another topic

Hugh Jackman has agreed to be Montblanc’s ambassador in North America, the final link to becoming the worldwide spokesman for the luxury brand.

Those living outside North America and familiar with Montblanc would be forgiven if they thought the film star already was the global ambassador. That’s because for the past two years Jackman was the international ambassador for Montblanc, with the exception of North America. The just inked deal (preferably in Montblanc Meisterstück Permanent Grey) completes the global package. Montblanc would not comment on why there was such a long delay in extending the partnership to North America.

There are few celebrities who are both as well known and as free of controversy as Jackman. In this regard Montblanc could not have picked a better representative for the brand. He and his wife, Deborra-Lee, are set to celebrate their 20th anniversary Monday. The couple has two children.



His accomplished career, from playing a comic book super hero to being a leading man in musicals for theater productions around the world, shows range and diversity. Certainly his rugged good looks is an ideal fit for the masculine brand.

The actor, singer and producer was introduced to a North American audience for the first time as a representative of Montblanc April 5 in New York, where he helped celebrate the brand’s 110th anniversary with other celebrities and VIP guests, including actress and model Kate Bosworth, Montblanc brand ambassador Charlotte Casiraghi, actor Matthew Morrison, socialite Olivia Palermo and model Johannes Huebl.



The event was held at the Rainbow Room, the rooftop restaurant at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, a place Jackman said held significant meaning for him because while filming in New York 15 years ago he was going to take his wife (who was in attendance) there for an evening of dinner with dancing for a surprise fifth anniversary gift, on the recommendation of John Travolta. However, he had to work late that evening and she ended up having a night out with Meg Ryan.

Jackman, before introducing a short film about the brand in which he starred, described the Hamburg-based company as having a “family atmosphere.”

“I’m the baby of the family but … it is a place that I’m proud to be associated with, to call our friends,” he said. “What it represents are qualities if I could half emulate I would be very happy. It is attention to detail, craftsmanship of the highest order, a real commitment to design. But more than anything what I love is they have one eye permanently on the past and their heritage; but one eye permanently on the future.

He said that as an artist he has an appreciation for this approach. “You can’t rest, you have to keep creating you have to be innovative, you have to keep moving forward (and) you have to take risks.”
