It's not just the musical score ... but the choreography, too...that we will be anticipating in this movie musical! Hugh, Michelle, Zac, Zendaya have had dancing stints in their career - I am also keen to know about Rebecca's dancing abilities ( although if she is portraying a great singer who will be a main attraction in Barnum's show, maybe she won't be dancing in the movie?).

The movie is set in the late 1800′s and casting directors with GWC in NYC are looking to cast some REAL pointe ballerinas ages 9 to 19.  The ballerinas will be part of Dance Class scenes that will film in January or February and are principal roles and girls cast for the roles will be paid SAG principal rates. Children and teens submitted for the roles must have experience with pointe ballet and a high level of expertise.
“The Greatest Showman on Earth” is filming in early 2017 in ther New York City area and  is produced  by Chernin Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. “The Greatest Showman on Earth” is currently scheduled to hit theaters around Christmas 2017.
 

GWC is seeking SAGAFTRA & Non-Union Caucasian Female Pointe Dancers to portray 1800s Young Pointe Ballerinas for recital and dance class scenes.
Seeking ages 9-19 who can portray pre-teen/early teens.
MUST have mid-high experience level on pointe.
There will be two rehearsals in January- dates TBD.
Tentatively works on 1/20 and 2/16.
All minors must have valid NY child performer work permit and valid trust account.

The Hollywood Reporter lists the Most Anticipated Films for 2017 -- LOGAN and THE GREATEST SHOWMAN make it to the top 50!

The two films are practically book-ending the year! Both are expected to be remarkable in their own right -- LOGAN marks his farewell role as Wolverine in what could be his most compelling portrayal of the character and THE GREATEST SHOWMAN will showcase his triple threat talent and versatility!

Guess what -- I was invited to watch a visiting LasVegas troupe called LE GRAND CIRQUE yesterday!  It was held in our big dome coliseum ( whose main distinction was it was the arena which hosted the famous Ali-Frazier boxing match -- but like other modern major performance centers hosts both entertainment shows and sports matches )!

I couldn't resist the temptation to see a modern- day circus ( without animal acts) -- with breathtaking high wire work (with a trapeze act!), unbelievable acrobatic acts, incredible juggling acts, feats of strengths, balance, and agility, even a fire act, etc., a great mix of Eastern European circus acts and Chinese acrobatic and juggling artistry...I was actually gasping more than the kids with us - LOL!

I went because I thought it would be an excellent preview of what we might see in THE GREATEST SHOWMAN.   The flying trapeze act was, for me, a forerunner of what I expect Zendaya would be acting out!   Was there an impresario announcing the acts ( just like Barnum might do)? No - but the show was introduced and reintroduced ( between acts) by an excellent mime ( acting as the modern version of a circus clown)! He even invited some audience members to join him on stage ( and surprisingly were game enough ) ... he kept the show at a lively pace, as acts followed other acts!

She is also preparing to shoot The Greatest Showman, the all-singing, all-dancing, family-friendly story of Barnum’s Circus with Hugh Jackman.

“It’s a happy movie!” she cries, clapping her hands. “We’re rehearsing right now so I sing and dance all day and then go home feeling so happy.” No need to take solace in wine then? “Well, not as much,” she smiles.

I hear Fox wants to position it as family-friendly ( including songs that emphasize that) and that the Christmas Day 2017 release confirms that

*Oscar winner Michael Arndt for the final script
*The hottest composing team at the moment (most recent work are LalaLand lyrics and Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway) - Pasek and Paul for the musical score.
*The director, while new in film-making, made a name for his commercial ads (e.g., Lipton Tea ad with Hugh) and visual effects! He is also known for his ability to deliver great choreography! He saw the project development of The Greatest Showman through ( with Hugh Jackman, of course) for a number of years including workshopping the musical score with Broadway actors!

*Hugh Jackman ( Tony winner for TBFO, Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner for Les Miserables, Oscars host, Tonys host, and...er...Wolverine )
