Something interesting during the developmental stage of the film project --


Robbie Williams once thought he was being pitched by Michael Gracey for the lead of TGS!

That is super wishful thinking

“Robbie helped me out massively on The Greatest Showman,” said Gracey. “There was a time when music was being called into question and as Robbie was one of Hugh [Jackman’s] main references for what it was to be a great showman, I went round on a Sunday and played Robbie the music and sort of told him the story and took him through it.”

Williams quipped, “I thought he was pitching me to be the lead in the film all the way through it. He was playing me the music, told me the whole story and showed me the storyboards and in my head I’m going ‘Yeah, I’ll do it.’”

While that film ultimately didn’t lead to a major collaboration between the two, it’s come full circle with Better Man.

Lol! Since Hugh was the project leader and uncredited producer -- why would he give away the role to Robbie??

Same with Jeremy Jordan -- also guilty of wishful thinking!! He has implied that the role of Philip (Zac) was promised to him. Or did he also imply he had a chance for the lead role because he recorded the demo tapes?

I wonder if they would lay claim to the roles if the movie a had been a flop.

Besides, why would Fox give its $84 Million to star Robbie Williams in a movie musical?? How is his acting???

Come to think of it -- could Gracey have done a similar pitch to Jordan ( so he would substitute for Zac...and later for Hugh for the final workshop) when Zac had other commitments and would miss the final workshop on Feb 2016? If Robbie even thought that he was being pitched the lead role -- could Jordan have entertained similar thoughts. Although by that time, Zac had already been doing the previous workshops and attending meetings?

I remember how a little nervous we were because of the bad movie press it was getting.

When the reviews came in, we were very disappointed.

The first week box office were likewise dismaying...





Then the movie burst out into the world!

Week after week, it showed its longevity, with Forbes.com proclaiming that it was the leggiest movie since TITANIC.


The Movie and the Soundtrack both set records!



And Hugh Jackman received his first Platinum disc!

And he eventually earned a Grammy for his being its priincipal soloist!

Rock star, indeed!

When entertainers had to be multi-talented!
Bancroft was a dramatic and comedic actress, who could also sing and dance.
Mel is a genius writer., director and
comedian who could also carry a tune and do a little shuffle and jive.
They don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

Sure they do. Hugh Jackman. Emma Stone. People are shocked to hear Scarlet Johanssen has a beautiful singing voice.

The problem isn’t the performers. It’s the economics of film-making. Studios make their money on international blockbusters. Spectacle translates; talent doesn’t.

Fox did not nominate the movie for Oscar recognition, except for the nomination for THIS IS ME for Best Original Song.

The Golden Globes gave nominations for Hugh Jackman & This Is Me.

I knew they were workshopping it in October, but I'm thrilled we finally have a definite announcement!

It was a closely guarded secret.

I wonder if Michael Gracey & choreographer Ash Wallen were involved?

Did Hugh Jackman know about it? He was at that time reeling from his marital issues...and waiting out the actors strike before resuming filming for Deadpool&Wolverine.

They would make a great mistake if his involvement is completely ignored!

The greatest show is going live. Hugh Jackman‘s passion project “The Greatest Showman” is finally getting a live stage show, thanks to Disney.

In a surprise twist at D23 in Anaheim on Friday, Disney showcased a medley of upcoming musical theater shows including dates for “Frozen” and news of a “Hercules” musical that will debut on West End. After a collection of rousing performances from the “Lion King” and “Beauty and the Beast” casts (to name a few) the iconic howl from the 2017 movie musical sounded across the arena… Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve waited for.

The crowd was then surprised with a rendition of “The Greatest Show,” from “The Greatest Showman.” Ryan Vasquez, who starred in “The Notebook” on Broadway, was dressed as Jackman’s character P. T. Barnum and accompanied four other cast members on stage under the signage “The Greatest Showman: The New Musical.”


Shortly after the performance, D23 host Yvette Nicole Brown said that the project was currently in development for a stage musical adaptation. The timing and the location were not revealed.


With nine memorable songs penned by the Oscar-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, this show will forever live on in the annals of musical movie theater.

Since its release, “The Greatest Showman” movie has captivated audiences with its vibrant storytelling and powerful performances. The film became a cultural phenomenon, grossing over $435 million worldwide and earning a loyal fanbase. Its soundtrack, featuring hits like “This Is Me,” “A Million Dreams,” and the aforementioned “Greatest Show,” became an instant classic, topping charts and winning numerous awards. The film also starred Zac Efron and Michelle Williams.

Dates or a destination for the Showman show were not revealed on Friday, but Page Six appears to have a clue, reporting Saturday that the production will land first in the southwest England town of Bristol “in early 2026” and then will “play the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London.”

The show’s director will reportedly be director-choreographer Casey Nicholaw, who helmed the stage version of Aladdin, the musical film The Prom, and many others. Jackman, who has abundant Broadway cred of his own, does not appear to be involved with the production thus far—but then again, we never expected him to come back as Wolverine, either.
