I wonder how his current health issue will affect his professional commitments, including this hosting gig?

I don't think his health scare will affect his professional commitments. It doesn't sound like more treatment will be needed since it sounds like it was caught early. I'm sure he'll just need to see the dermatologist more often to make sure things are okay.

I don't remember any of the previous shows enough to know whether other hosts also performed. I keep seeing performances by X-Y-Z....and hosted by Hugh so I certainly hope it includes performances by Hugh!!! I've wanted him to do a Christmas show for years so my fingers are very much crossed that he will do at least a couple of numbers. Sue

I'm not worried! It would be nonsensical to sign him up to host this and not allow him to sing and dance at least a little. It's what he does! Christmas kangaroo, anybody?

Not too long now smiley-happy036
I wonder if he will perform other than for the Opening number and maybe the finale?
I remember some of the older clips from Australia when he hosted or sang some Christmas songs ( We Three Kings, that song from the Disney show with the young boy from portrayed Peter Allen, Bethlehem Morning, etc). Would there be a special number written for him to open the show? His opening number for the Oscars was such a hit - and that writing team was excellent ( and they won an Emmy for doing it)!

Jo There was a segment on an Australian TV show " The Morning Show" (Channel 7) yesterday about Christmas Carols. It showed various renditions over the years of " Oh Holy Night" and included a brief but beautiful clip of Hugh singing it at the 1997 Carols in the Domain in Sydney. First time I've seen him do that one, although there are You Tube Clips of Hark the Heral Angels Sing,Bethlehem Morning and We Three Kings from Australian Carols in the 90s. If anyone can locate the full "Oh Holy Night" one , it looks like it would be worth seeing.

Maybe for a change, he could sing the more solemn songs ( like ONCE IN DAVID'S ROYAL CITY or even THE LORD'S PRAYER) in the mid part of the show. He was wonderful in BETHLEHEM MORNING. These are Christmas songs not often done on American TV.

I just hope he gets to perform something and doesn't simply act as genial host.

Maybe he would do at least do a musical opening number? And join the finale? What a waste if he is just there to move the ceremonies along. Why get someone with his musical gifts if his talent is not shared with the audience? Singing and dancing...and maybe even acting out the skit? Of course I really have no idea what goes on in this kind of a show Jo

It seems Hugh is still in NYC -- maybe they're doing the rehearsals there?

Was anyone able to get tickets? If you did, and you want to get together, I live less then an hour from DC. I don't know where he is staying, but the closest hotel to the venue is the Willard. If I just could have gotten a ticket

I think I uploaded audio and video versions of all Hugh's Christmas "bits" - years ago, on the old Red Board. Is anyone interested in mp3s or mp4s of those clips? If yes, I'll look around and see what I can do. Meanwhile, I didn't notice Hugh's "Oh, Holy Night" on YouTube, but I did find "The Magic of Christmas" [OMG - he looks soooo young]

Hugh IDs the boy as a member of the Australian cast of TBFO, which would date that fondly remembered video to likely 1998, the year of the original tour. No wonder he has that fresh "Curly"-era look. Thanks for resurrecting that video, Valerie. Ellen

LOL, odd choice to have Mickey run out of the box right after Hugh sings the words "Remember his birth on Christmas morning". I can imagine kids wondering, is it Mickey's birthday .... ? Great old clip, I truly hope he gets to sing several songs at the DC event. My satellite provider's on-screen guide doesn't even list Hugh in the description of the event - only Charles Barkley and the guest performers. smiley-signs066

Sue (Birchie) kindly posted the photo related to Hugh's tweet on the HUGH'S TWEETS thread Let's also enjoy the photo on this thread -- I wonder if that rehearsal is simply the final rehearsals and that the show has already been taking shape elsewhere? Is Hugh going to sing ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH Jo

Thanks for re-posting the rehearsal picture Jo, I had forgotten about this thread. smiley-whacky078 Glad to see his nose is finally looking like it's healing nicely. Looks like it may just need a dab of makeup for the show on Friday! Sue

If the First Family is involved, shouldn't the show be shown in national networks, so every American can be reached? I read a tweet from a Hugh fan moaning about being poor because she said she can't even afford cable TV, let alone see Hugh live on stage.
