I have just gotten a new laptop and tablet set from Dell - and have parted company from my old tech friend in the last few years ( 5!), also from Dell smiley-computer004
Unlike in the USA, we are not spoiled for choice here when it comes to technology ( although we are amazingly one of the most cellphone-connected country in the world - the gaggle of gossiping!). We also have to consider vendor support as a key factor ( equipment and service provider).
I did get an XPS15 from Dell and I insisted on the latest available - not fully realizing what I was getting into smiley-excited001... Also, since replacement of hard drives here has been problematic, I had suggested that we get solid state hardware so I am not bothered by constant crashes due to the quality of replacement parts here... This is the latest release from Dell ( only two months old) and I was lucky enough to have a USA-based nephew get the item for me (including configuring it so it will be plug-in ready for me) as well as have another nephew take it home for me. So, we used all manner of communication to get things going and completed before the items got on the plane home. It didn't matter that we are 13 hours ahead of NYC/NJ -- I would call or email or chat with my nephew at whatever time -- I think I was too impatient. He did prepare detailed instructional videos for me, but as usual I find these things not worth immediate attention -LOL! Of course I was still set in my old ways ( Google, Explorer, Adobe, name it --) and had not yet been convinced to move towards more efficient softwares. Maybe I will get there eventually
*Looking at it -- it is very beautiful! And the resolution is amazing - better than my HD TV! It is also very slim- as if it is on physical fitness all the time.
*But what a leap of faith for me -- coping with the new technology!
*Ha - I am at my wit's end sometimes trying to cope with the speed and the sensitiveness of this wonder. I must have said a few choice words, more than I ever did, in the last 48 hours giggle
*And spoiled for choice is not an exaggeration -- I do not know why they give you information/decision overload when you really need only a few things for day-to-day existence and amusement <TMI>
*Of course I made a few blunders -- and have hounded my nephew over the phone or over the internet! I have woken him up at the worst hours ( we are 13 hours ahead), to which he has responded with utmost grace and patience! Thank goodness for nephews!
*Yesterday - I blamed everyone (including Dell, my service provider, and even thought my poor nephew made a mistake in configuring my network connection) and was not able to use my new toy for a few hours. LOL - as it turned out, it was my error in plugging the wrong-whatever to the right-whatever smiley-signs140
-
But with utmost patience, more nimble fingers, better control of this machine, and "scholarly curiousity" - I am sure I will eventually get there - LOL!
In the meantime smiley-computer004 <cool>

Getting to know all about you...
