Yes, I thought it was strange at first that the region's official tourism page wouldn't issue a correction, but then I realized they might not want to!  And I haven't seen anybody else besides this one person refuting the rumors, so who knows for sure .

Er...I thought the "ships" were permanently docked at the Cardington Sheds, according to the set visit reports

Constructing a pirate ship ( I don't think you can hire one of early vintage at this time, unless a company specializes in this kind of props) is very expensive. Even Tom Hooper used CGI for his broken ship in Les Miserables. On the other hand, an ITV film ( film for TV) would not usually have a very huge budget.

The mystery continues

But Hugh was definitely in NYC on Monday, according to a tweeter who saw him at his gym with his two dogs


Unless...they do not need Hugh for the reshoots or new scenes

This was a response to an entry on the Official PAN Facebook Page. Of course, there is no certainty that it did not come from a studio plant ( but maybe not because his response is littered with spelling mistakes, like me sometimes...or was texted )... but what he says is very reassuring --

Alex Perets Took my kids to see PAN at a movie preview event. Let me tell you something about this movie - first of all I will take my kids to see it again once in comes out in theathers. I am only a casual Peter Pan fan but the way the movie is / was made makes me feel that I spent about 2 hours in Neverland myself. The story is very easy to follow along. The scenes are "magical" and well thought out - all the way down to the crock and the mermaids. The acting is excellent. WB really has a hit on it's hands with this movie. I can equate this movie to the Malifecent and Wizzard of OZ - it is THAT GOOD. Hightly recommend this movie.

That is absolutely fantas-y-tic!! Purely magical!! Sheer entertainment. Can't wait -- but October 8 (our release date here in the Philippines) is still a long wait.


*Did you notice the ship figurehead is in the image of Blackbeard? Hey, that would be a cool souvenir for Hugh...unless they become part of a studio tour, along with Harry Potter ( this is in Leavesden, England).

*Blackbeard looks more menacing without the wig.

*Blackbeard and Tiger Lily are in a fight till death ?

*Did you notice that the mermaids are all portrayed by one actress, Cara Delevigne?

*Love the quality of Hugh's voice as he does a narration. Didn't Bryan Singer say that part of what won him over in Hugh's final audition was "the weight of his voice".

*It looks like a very feisty relationship beween Tiger Lily and James Hook.

*The animals are out-of-this world and will charm all the kids

Australian hunk Hugh Jackman has switched his pearly white smile for a set of rotten brown wonky teeth for his new film, Pan.

The 46-year-old shocked fans as he showed off his crocked smile in the latest trailer for the Peter Pan spin off...

Hugh also swaps his likable dark brown eyes for a pair of amber coloured pupils.

It was obvious that he was wearing teeth prosthetics, like he did in his "convict" scenes in Les Miserables.

I have to disagree that he put on fake amber-colored pupils. But what would be the purpose?

I do remember that when I got my first lucky serenade for his one-man show, what startled me most when he started singing directly to my face was how " light and amberish" his eyes were! Beautiful and startling! Sometimes, it seems that his eyes are dark brown but could this be the effect of the light? Unless he has a whole wardrobe of different shades of contact lenses


The most obvious change was is having to shave his full head of hair. But even then, he is still very handsome.

Will Hugh be home for that world premiere event? Will the land of OZ be the first to wander into Neverland? Or maybe Neverland is located close to that faraway continent?

I thought it would be London which will host the first premiere showing ( unless the premieres actually occur much earlier than release dates) -- it is where the story starts...and where James Barrie wrote the book...and where a statue of Peter Pan is immortalized in Kensington Gardens.

But it is a story for the ages and will enchant every imaginative and fantasy-filled mind's eye of a child! In any part of the world!

PS: If plans push through for the filming of GREATEST SHOWMAN in Australia supposedly at that time of the year -- will this be just a coincidence that Hugh might already be there ?

Here's another confirmation that PAN will be first seen in Australia. Come to think of it, the main antagonists and most interesting characters in the film would be Peter and Blackbeard themselves. They are both Aussies!

I am guessing that the early rollout in Australia is also to build good word of mouth, outside of the North American market. Much of the negativity and supposed lack of interest has been expressed by film sites and nessage boards from America -- I think this is due to comparisons with the Disney film, the Broadway staging, and live NBC production and a plethora of Peter Pan-based movies -- some common comments:

*Too many Peter Pan derived movies already.

*Disney did it a certain way - why change that?

*Why are they changing the story the way James Barrie originally intended? As it was in his play/book.

*Why is Tiger Lily not a "redskin"? Disney said so!

*Why are Peter and James Hook friends? That is not so!

*Why do they have British accents? Disney already made a good American film.

*Why is Peter flying through space.

All sorts of questions about the deviations from the "Original" Disney movie.

Ironically the UK will see the movie PAN only a week after the USA release...and most other countries are scheduled a day before the USA release date.

Will Australia lead the way towards a positive reception of this new Peter Pan story?

Any chance China will also release the movie?

Will word of mouth from countries who will see it first sway moviegoers, before film critics and filmsites have their say?

I don't know where I read it -- maybe one of the set visit reports -- but the reason why Blackbeard has that dark oval/round scar on top of his head was because in one former encounter with the natives of Neverland, he was supposed to have been partially "scalped"...but lived through the incident.

Oddly, the last time this writer visited the set of one of Jackman’s movies, he had shaved his head for a role and the set itself involved a giant tree. (And if you’ve seen Darren Aronofksy’s The Fountain, consider yourself awesome.) Nearly ten years later and you probably already know that he has once again shaved his head to play Blackbeard, although you might not know why. It became clear to us on our second day as we watched him on set. Apparently, Blackbeard had an altercation with the natives and let’s just say that they didn’t leave him with much hair, hence the different look for the actor.

It doesn't look so bad on this photo - I was sort of squeamish about seeing how his head would look like under the obvious fake wig

The new trailer for Hugh Jackman’s Pan has taken flight.

Directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Hanna), the film is a semi-reimagining of the original Peter Pan adventures, which began with Scottish author J.M. Barrie’s 1911 book Peter and Wendy. In the new Pan trailer, which you can watch above, we learn that the film takes place about 40 years later than it did in Barrie’s book, and that the movie will reveal how young orphan Peter (played by newcomer Levi Miller) finds his way to Neverland — and explain his close friendship with one James Hook.

Yes, that Hook.

Pan introduces Captain Hook (played by Garrett Hedlund) before he loses his hand and turns to the dark side; here, he's a young, brave, and very witty underling to the evil Blackbeard, the villain played by a marvelously over-the-top Hugh Jackman.

“It’s really a kind of fantasia based upon the original book,” Wright told Yahoo Movies on Monday. “If the book were a real event, this would be the dream that happens afterwards. It’s a riff-upon — an imagining. The book has this strange kind of surreal, sometimes dark, sometimes difficult, often wondrous, witty atmosphere, so that was something I certainly felt was vital within the movie.”

Wright’s film plays with other traditional characters, as well. Peter’s friend Tiger Lilly, for example, is a proto-punk island native, dressed in Doc Martens and DIY armor. She’s played by The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara, and though the director caught criticism for casting her in what was originally a part for a Native American, Wright has said that in Pan, the Neverland natives are from all over the world — a sensible explanation given that it is a magical fantasyland located somewhere in the sky.

And while Wright broke the news to Yahoo that Tinkerbell will make a cameo in the movie, don’t expect Pan to be quite as (relatively) lighthearted as the big-screen Neverland tales that have come before it. There’s always been an underlying darkness to Barrie’s story — after all, it’s about a wartime orphan who gets kidnapped by pirates and brought to a netherworld — and Wright upped the ante even more by forcing young Peter to be a slave in Blackbeard’s pixie dust mines.

But with a young audience in mind, he made several adjustments to keep the film more whimsical than scary. For example, no one bleeds in this Neverland; instead, when shot or stabbed, they explode into colorful pixie dust, an innovation Wright says was inspired by the celebration of the Indian holiday Holi, which he embraced after marrying sitarist Anoushka Shankar, the daughter of famed musician Ravi Shankar.

“You throw paintballs at each other, and [they] explode in wonderful visions of color,” he explained. “I was looking at pictures of that festival, and thinking of how I didn’t want any kind of blood in the movie and how to avoid anything too gruesome, and it felt like their spirits would be leaving them in a bolt of color. It was an interesting and fantastic way to go.”


He also conducted “a lot of test screenings” with young children to see how much they could tolerate. He remembered loving the scary moments in the book as a child, and for the most part, found that kids enjoyed most of them in his film. One exception: The 16-foot crocodiles he’d included in an early cut.


“They were pretty scary, so I had to pull back on that a bit,” Wright said. But otherwise, Wright didn’t scale back the spectacle on Pan: The entire film was made on an epic scale, including a massive island that hosts much of the swashbuckling action. Although Wright wanted a dreamy feel to his movie, Wright also wanted as an authentic location as possible, so he and Warner Bros. built the biggest interior film set of all time, based near the Leavesden studio where the company made all eight Harry Potter films.

“We built an enormous forest set… where we then built a village,” he said. “That was pretty extraordinary, I’d never been in anything like it. You could literally get lost. We had artists and agents wandering through, completely lost. I felt like the actors, especially the younger cast, would have a more sense of reality about the environment and that might infuse their performances.”

Wright hopes fans feel the same sense of wonder and total immersion when Pan hits theaters on October 9th.
