Hmmm... he should be starting filming PAN sometime in May. I wonder if he is going to sport a slightly different look for Blackbeard ( who is usually pictured with a flowing beard).






He almost looks like a Spanish grande(e) in the first photo ( Empire Awards) - ironic, because Blackbeard was the enemy of Spanish ships! Of course, he would likely be sporting facial hair extensions for the film

With the cameras now scheduled to roll next week at Leavesden Studios, Joe Wright has rounded out the cast for Peter Pan origin tale Pan. Amanda Seyfried, Nonso Anozie, Kathy Burke, Jack Charles, Taejoo Na, Kurt Egyiawan, Lewis MacDougall and Leni Zieglmeier are all now on board.

They’re joining the already-announced Hugh Jackman (Blackbeard), Garrett Hedlund (Hook), Rooney Mara (Tiger Lily), Adeel Akhtar (Smee) and Levi Miller (Pan) in the film, which charts Peter’s backstory from the time he was an orphan spirited away to Neverland and his earliest encounters with some of the people there, including his friendship with the young Hook, who will go on to become his nemesis.

These new arrivals are on as a mixture of characters both familiar and fresh, with Seyfried is set to play Mary with Anozie as Bishop, Charles as Tiger Lily’s chieftain father, Burke as Mother Barnabas, Egyiawan as Murray, MacDougall as Nibs and newcomer Zieglmeier as Wendy Darling.

Wright is working from the screenplay by Jason Fuchs and the film is set to fly into our cinemas on July 17 next year.

If you have had a chance to glimpse at the script, Amanda is playing a featured role ( Mary) but a most important one ( her physical looks are perfect for the role!). Her character and that of Hugh will not have many scenes together -- except for one singular scene of conflict!

Eric Fellner, who was a producer for Les Miserables, is also a producer for PAN. Maybe he had a hand in the casting of Amanda?

It looks like Hugh will miss early filming of the movie, as he will be busy with other commitments till May 17 ( DOFP premieres/media tour and the launch of the Jackman Furness Foundation/cabaret performance in Perth on May 17).

Maybe he will join filming by the third week?

And he will likely take another break for rehearsals and actual hosting of this year's TONYs!

Model Cara Delevingne and her eyebrows are set to add another Hollywood film to their CV, with a role in the upcoming Peter Pan reboot.

Delevingne has landed the part of a mermaid in the big-budget blockbuster, report The Sun, which will be her biggest movie part to date.

The fantasy flick, being made by British director Joe Wright, will see her act alongside the likes of X-Men's Hugh Jackman and Mama Mia! star Amanda Seyfried...

When there was news that Cara might be part of the cast, I initially thought about the role of a Mermaid for her. Although I understand she had worked with Joe Wright previously in ANNA KARENINA.


They're going to have a pretty good-looking cast ( for some of the key characters at least).

Back where it all began for Pan...


Pan, the new Peter Pan film, was shooting in Kensington Gardens, West London, on Wednesday.


Director Joe Wright wanted to capture a shot of the statue of Peter Pan, in the gardens where J. M. Barrie was inspired to write the story about the boy who wouldn’t grow up.


The film stars Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund as Hook (Hedlund’s one of my favourite actors; much underrated, he was tremendous in On The Road and Inside Llewyn Davis).


Then there’s Kathy Burke as a nasty nun, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, Adeel Akhtar as Mr Smee, and Wright’s frequent collaborator Nonso Anozie playing a bishop.

I guess they're filming the first scenes, which would not require Hugh ( busy promoting DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and rehearsing for the TONYs). When will he join the shooting - his beard is now at a luxurious length

Apart from growing his luxurious facial hair ( absolutely required for the role!), Hugh is now rehearsing with new blades ( not the adamantium-coated ones ) but the sabres used by swashbuckling pirates, such as one of the most famous buccaneers of all - BLACKBEARD!

I hope the cops recognize him and don't haul him down to the precinct as a psycho waving realistic-looking weapons. Fresh air is great, yeah, but couldn't he do that in a gym or rehearsal room? He's taking a chance. NYC authorities , especially post 9-11, don't fool around.

Hopefully, the paparazzi who were taking the photos would have given enough attention that the person carrying a sabre in Hudson Park was no threat, but a crazed actor thinking he could rehearse and apply for a superhero role ( circa 18th century)

Seriously, Hugh does enough walking or scootering ( oftentimes with Dali) the streets of Lower Manhattan that he probably is a permanent sight. Of course, his thick facial hair may hide the chiseled features... but he probably has some cops actually keeping watch for him

It looks like filming may take place outside England, in more exotic locations which are vivid representations of the story settings. Glad to note that there will be an effort to minimize CGI-created scenery!

Vietnam's Swallow Cave To Feature In New 'Peter Pan' Film

HANOI, May 19 (Bernama) -- A team from U.S.-based Warner Bros. has surveyed a cave at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh province to select scenes for its upcoming "Peter Pan" film, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.

The Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs announced the 10-member crew spent three days exploring the World Heritage site of En (Swallow) Cave, one of the park's resplendent spots to seek locations for the fantasy-adventure film.

The team used aerial and remote-controlled cameras to calculate the shots which might be taken in the cave.

In these possible shots, the film's protagonist Peter Pan will hover through the beautiful grotto and over magnificent mountain ranges and lush forests in the park.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is situated in a 2,000-sq km limestone zone about 500km south of Hanoi and is well-known for its cave and grotto systems which comprise more than 300 caves measuring over 70 kilometres.

Phong Nha holds several world cave records for boasting the longest underground river as well as the largest caverns and passageways in the world.

Apart from the cave, the team is also planning to scour for locations in several other famed scenic spots in Quang Ninh and Ninh Binh provinces.

Filming of Peter Pan will take place at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden in southeastern England and will be directed by British filmmaker Joe Wright known for such movies as "Pride and Prejudice", "Atonement" and "Anna Karenina".

The movie stars Levi Miller as Pan, Amanda Seyfried as Mary, Hugh Jackman as Black-beard and Garrett Hedlund as Captain Hook.

Peter Pan is set for a worldwide release on July 17, 2015.

Hugh Jackman Swaps Wolverine's Claws for a Big Sword

Hugh Jackman has already mastered the art of the blades that protrude from his knuckles as Logan in Wolverine, but recently he was spotted working with a more old-fashioned weapon – a sword.

The 45-year-old star, who recently underwent skin cancer surgery on his face, was seen training in a park overlooking the Hudson river in New York with martial arts champion Jamie Goulding for his role as Blackbeard in his latest flick, Pan.

"He's got a really good work ethic," says Goulding, the fight scene coordinator for the film. "He works really, really hard."

So how hard does one actually have to work to maneuver with a sword?


"To start with, I taught him kickboxing," Goulding says. "We did footwork, then we moved on to the weapons and the sword."


This two-hour workout isn't as simple as it may sound, with the warm-up alone probably leaving most people panting for breath.

"I always change the warm-up so it's fresh," says Goulding. "We start with jogging on the spot, some skipping, then we go into upper body, then we go into burpees to get the full body going."

Despite telling fans recently that he "whines" and "complains" about training, the Aussie brought his A-game with Goulding.

"He just wanted to train and train and train, that’s all he wanted to do," says the martial arts champion.

As for how Jackman faired as a swashbuckler? "He has great coordination with the hands," says Goulding. "He picked it all up really quick!"

Lifting this from another interview with Hugh, as an update on PAN --

So the beard, I'm assuming, is for Blackbeard?

Yes. Or as my son likes to call me, "black-and-white beard." I'm like, "All right, there will be make-up involved."

How is "Pan" going?

Oh, it's great. I love Joe Wright. I love the way he preps a movie. I've seen a lot of the artwork and pre-viz for this, and it's going to blow people's minds. I think it's going to be really special.

Is he still maintaining that incredible visual sense?

Yes. But giving him the palette of Neverland is just awesome. It's so unique and beautiful that I said, "Joe, you need to release this pre-viz because it's one of the most beautiful pieces of art I've ever seen. It was a mixture of storyboards, slightly animated, computer animated pre-viz and it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I said, "Keep that. Whatever happens with the movie, I would pay to see that." He's so phenomenal and has such a great touch, with a sense of humor and panache.
