It is quite amusing to see so many varied reactions to the new look ( as if we have not gotten used to Hugh with all kinds of hairstyles for movie roles - LOL) -- but this one even makes an effort to dissect it further ..and even comes up with a few graphic comparisons www.bustle.com/articles/27619-hugh-jackman-goes-bald-for-blackbeard-his-new-look-reminds-us-of-these-6-thingsAnd from the same blog, this one caught my eye -- He may not have been rewarded yet with an Oscar, but his Oscar-nominated role of Jean Valjean is already living proof that he can hold his own with the best-decorated such as DDLewis... and while the Grammy-nominated soundtrack of LES MISERABLES ( of which he is the principal singing voice, with 4 majestic solos) may not have won the prize, I thought it deserved the distinction. It did capture the pop culture imagination, having landed as No. 1 in the Billboard charts on its first week. "the living vesion of an EGOT" is rightfully used to describe Hugh Jackman! Jo What is an "EGOT?" In the new TV show, Crossbones, John Malkovich plays Blackbeard and he's also bald and has a (silver) goatee. www.imdb.com/title/tt2400631/Nancy

A "four time winner" - Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. At least that's what I took it to mean. Hugh's two down (Emmy, Tony) and two to go. It's quite an exclusive club. Here's a list of EGOT winners

But that hair grows fast! Hugh tweeted a training session with the Australian PM ( Tony Abbott) -- How is he going to keep it bald ( if that is the Blackbeard look for PAN) -- shave his head practically every day? I wonder if the target is simply shorn hair ( for the look in the movie) and not completely bald? I am really interested to see him in full costume as Blackbeard Jo

No one has mentioned this yet, but notice how they dyed his moustache/goatee black? (no more gray hairs--he had quite a few!)

Hugh does move in high places. This photo shows him not just with Australian PM Tony Abbott but also with the new president of the New York Stock Exchange, Tom Farley ( the very tall guy) -- Here's Tom Farley talking about his new responsibilities ( he used to be Chief Operating Officer before heading the group) -- tabbforum.com/videos/nyse-president-tom-farley-gets-going

The Australian blogsite must have erroneously identified the man. Ironic, especially so that the athlete supposedly in the group photo is Australian! There is some similarity with Tom Farley, though -- and it seemed appropriate to have Tony Abbott touching base with someone from the financial community - although it probably would have been more appropriate in a posh dining hall somewhere in the financial district or at NYSE itself Sorry for the identity theft Jo

Hope people don't confuse the two -- the French noble man who married so many and was called BLUEBEARD...and the famed British pirate in the 19th century who roamed the Carribean called BLACKBEARD Hugh's already looking mighty fierce with that face smiley-excited001 Some think he looks "badass enough" - like a fearsome pirate should! At last! It seems he is now in England to film PAN...and starts looking for the real Peter Pan (not the one on one of rides at Disneyworld ) -- Hmmm...if this is an indication that the movie will be both a visual and also an aural feast ( singing!) -- I think the movie will turn out to be spectacular! I wonder if they can find an opportunity for Blackbeard to sing about his megalomaniac dreams Jo

Is this tweet by Hugh himself, as it is signed by HJ ( I think this is the signal that someone else does it for him). Also, there was already a tweet about his meeting with the singing boys. But maybe he just wants to show us the group photo? Is that Joe Wright with them?

It looks like Hugh has been exploring where he's at now -- Many suggest this must be Captain James Cook, the English explorer, navigator, cartographer who was supposed to have been one of the first Europeans to have explored some coastal parts of Australia in the 18th century. Per Wikipedia -- The statue is carrying a roll of paper, probably an indication that he was a famous cartographer. Maybe this statue resonated with Hugh's memories of history classes when he was a youth? EDIT: It is indeed Captain Cook statue near the Admiralty Arch in London! www.britainunlimited.com/Biogs/Cook.htmWill people recognize the new look of Hugh Jackman if he goes around London ( he lived there for a year during the stint in OKLAHOMA!)? It looks like he is doing London during the weekend, between filming.
SKYLIGHT is a David Hare play with Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy.
I wonder how many West End/classical theatre shows he can squeeze in his schedule. I think he was not able to do that while filming Les Miserables because the shoot was exhausting, they were trying to meet a very tight filming schedule, and most of the filming locations were not that close to London.

clips.wimbledon.com/g/v/4uYgAb5W3O9A lot of people were keen to know what caused him to adopt the look. Someone's reaction was unusual -- "that he wanted to win an Oscar" ...maybe because actors who are willing to forego their vanity and show extreme changes, even unflattering physical transformations, are often identified with the desire to win an Oscar. But didn't Johnny Depp get a nomination as Captain Jack Sparrow for Pirates of the Carribean ?? LOL - I think this was the furthest from Hugh's mind when he signed up for the role Jo

I'd like to see Hugh now in complete costume for Blackbeard, given all the attention to his facial hair and bald pate. Blackbeard is supposed to be very flamboyant with his appearance and with Joe Wright's costume design team from Anna Karenina also involved in PAN, Hugh's Blackbeard will surely be a talking point! From historical accounts, he usually wore a hat with his apparel then -- will Hugh also occasionally cover his lack of head hair with headgear?
But it seems Joe Wright is quite secretive with any leak of the production scenes. The model Cara Delavigne (sp?) who is in a featured role as a Mermaid has said that they are under strict instructions not to talk about anything!
