He proudly showed off his shaved head on Instagram on Tuesday but just one day later Hugh Jackman kept it covered up.

The 45-year-old actor underwent the dramatic transformation for his upcoming role as Bluebeard the pirate in the new Peter Pan movie and posted a picture with the caption, 'Blackbeard is born,' along with the hashtag Pan.

But Hugh kept his bald head under wraps on Wednesday as he stepped out in a wide brimmed straw hat after a lunch date with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness in New York...

Some media do not realize that wearing a hat for Hugh is really to protect him from the sun.

I guess he looks more authoritative when he is in his lair -LOL! I once had an opportunity to have been a guest in the viewing room of the NYSE ( that was before 9/11) and it was a real humdinger of a place!

The Australian blogsite must have erroneously identified the man. Ironic, especially so that the athlete supposedly in the group photo is Australian!


There is some similarity with Tom Farley, though -- and it seemed appropriate to have Tony Abbott touching base with someone from the financial community - although it probably would have been more appropriate in a posh dining hall somewhere in the financial district or at NYSE itself

HOLLYWOOD star Hugh Jackman, most famous for his role as Wolverine, is filming at Cardington Sheds today for the new feature length film 'PAN'.

Jackman, who played Wolverine in the X-Men films, has been cast as Blackbeard in the latest Peter Pan movie which began filming at the Sheds last month...



This morning (Friday, June 20) Hugh Jackman tweeted a picture of himself with members of the African Children's Choir on set in Cardington.

Sheds enthusiast Trevor Monk wrote: 'Hugh Jackman is at Cardington now, his recently posted pic is a huge shed sized give away.'

Cardington Sheds were huge wartime airplane hangars which were converted for filming purposes later on. If am not mistaken, Warner Bros Leavesden Studio where main filming is being done is around the area.

Many suggest this must be Captain James Cook, the English explorer, navigator, cartographer who was supposed to have been one of the first Europeans to have explored some coastal parts of Australia in the 18th century.

The statue is carrying a roll of paper, probably an indication that he was a famous cartographer.

Maybe this statue resonated with Hugh's memories of history classes when he was a youth?

SKYLIGHT is a David Hare play with Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy.

I wonder how many West End/classical theatre shows he can squeeze in his schedule. I think he was not able to do that while filming Les Miserables because the shoot was exhausting, they were trying to meet a very tight filming schedule, and most of the filming locations were not that close to London.

A lot of people were keen to know what caused him to adopt the look.

Someone's reaction was unusual -- "that he wanted to win an Oscar" ...maybe because actors who are willing to forego their vanity and show extreme changes, even unflattering physical transformations, are often identified with the desire to win an Oscar.

But didn't Johnny Depp get a nomination as Captain Jack Sparrow for Pirates of the Carribean ??

LOL - I think this was the furthest from Hugh's mind when he signed up for the role

I'd like to see Hugh now in complete costume for Blackbeard, given all the attention to his facial hair and bald pate. Blackbeard is supposed to be very flamboyant with his appearance and with Joe Wright's costume design team from Anna Karenina also involved in PAN, Hugh's Blackbeard will surely be a talking point! From historical accounts, he usually wore a hat with his apparel then -- will Hugh also occasionally cover his lack of head hair with headgear?

But it seems Joe Wright is quite secretive with any leak of the production scenes. The model Cara Delavigne (sp?) who is in a featured role as a Mermaid has said that they are under strict instructions not to talk about anything!

Just this week, Hugh Jackman popped up at Wimbledon, showing off a formidable Van Dyke. He has an excuse - he's sporting the beard and skinhead look while he films the forthcoming Peter Pan movie, in which he plays Blackbeard.

Apparently I'm not the only one who doesn't appreciate this new look. . .
