"Fly Away" segueing into "Rio" always seems like a fitting reminder of his presence. He was truly one of a kind. Ellen He frequently did that - "...where would we go? Where would we go?" and then segue to I Go To Rio. There is a video on YouTube, but it cuts off before he gets to the "Rio" part of it. [January 9, 1988, the height of summer Down Under; outdoor venue (Peter opened a show for Sinatra) and it's HOT out.]

Yes, Valerie...I agree with every word you said. I'll take the sad if it means that I had Peter in my life. It's hard to believe that 23 years have passed but the memories will never fade -- not one single bit. Ellen and Mickey -- I can always count of you guys to remember! Love to all!

It's been 24 years since Peter passed away, but the memories of his time with us are still sweet. His music is timeless, and the joy he brought to so many is a gift that can never be taken away.

I'm thinking of Peter too . . . out there - somewhere - shaking his maracas. I watched the Radio City video the other night. I think I'll do some Down Under clips today. (Such a handsome guy. Love this pic from Legs.) Miss you, Peter - now and always.

The other day I was walking through a store when Arthur's Theme was played. My mind went immediately to Peter's monologue about possibly having to share one academy award among the four writers credited with writing the song. They thought perhaps they could split the statue and each take a part, but decided it wouldn't work because Carole Bayer Sager wanted the same part that Peter wanted. I had to smile at the memory. Peter has been gone for twenty-five years, but the laughter and joy that he brought to us never seems to fade. Bravo, Peter. Carol

^ and on that note - typical Peter . . . a three minute song with a 15 minute intro. (Audio only) Here's another one I love - They Puerto Rican Medley (Audio only) I wonder where he got those "ruby" slippers. I'm listening to his LIVE recordings today. The music is great, but that "chatter" is irresistible. He always makes me smile. Miss ya, Pete. Always will.

The years fade away quickly, but the memories remain as vivid as ever. Peter ensured that he would not be forgotten by leaving behind a wonderful legacy of memorable music and delightful performances for us to enjoy over and over. It's hard to feel sad when he left us so much to smile about.

The only time I was lucky enough to speak with Hugh, I thanked him for all he has done to keep Peter's music and memory fresh in our minds. Fortunately for us, Hugh continues to pay homage to Peter during his concerts. So, although Peter left us 27 years ago, I find that I am once again eagerly anticipating hearing his music performed live and in concert. Although Hugh's version of Peter Allen has taken on a life of its own, I can't help but wonder what Peter's "talks" with the audience would be like if he was still with us. Given the changes in social norms that have taken place over the years, I can only imagine how "saucy" they might be. What a blast! Carol

Twenty-eight years ago Peter Allen died of AIDS, yet another deadly virus which was for too long treated dismissively by those in power. Who knows how many deaths might have been avoided by more timely action.
I think I could use a dose of "Rio" today.

Thanks so much for the film! This is the perfect day for viewing it.
Yesterday I watched an interview with Ann-Margret, who was promoting her new movie. She spoke of her late husband, and I remembered that Peter wrote "Once Before I Go" for her, with Roger Smith in mind. It was the closing song of her act. Yet another reminder of the man and his wonderful music.
