ok u mean to say we have to bookmark every single item? Foxie - If you're still talking about updates - You need to Bookmark each individual THREAD (not every single post) for which you want a notification. That's the best solution I've seen for getting info via email. N.B. This will only inform you about *existing* threads. It will not tell you when someone creates a new one. ...or, come to the site and click "View the 50 most recent posts of this forum" near the bottom of the Main "Home" Page, in the Info Center, under Forum Statistics. (I can raise that number to 100.)

I just noticed the "Exalt" and "Smite" options under posters' names. What exactly is the purpose of that, and is it good to add? If so, how? Looks like an anonymous "thumbs up/down" that you can give to a post. It will +/- the "Karma" of the person who posted it. The "Exalt" seems a nice way to say "Thanks" for a new photo, or something else you like. I don't really care for the "Smite" thing, because it is non-specific. If you see a post you don't like, I'd prefer you send me a PM or "Report to Mod" so I can read the offending post myself. The "Exalt/Smite" will show up in the Poster's "Karma" but it doesn't indicate which particular post merited the +/- vote.

...For something more general: On the main "Home" page, near the bottom, under Forum Statistics, you can click "View the 50 most recent posts of this forum." I can raise/lower that number. I think that's the closest thing we've got. That's a great tip! Thanks Valerie. I was having a b**ch of a time weeding through to find the newer posts. Sue

But if there's no such bracketed options under one's screen name in the first place, how are they put there in the first place? Ellen

But if there's no such bracketed options under one's screen name in the first place, how are they put there in the first place. The [Exalt] and [Smite] buttons will only appear under other people's names. You can not Exalt/Smite yourself. Is that what you're asking? YOU don't see E/S buttons under *your* name, but everyone else does. Get it? I *think* that's because there are many "gamers" with message boards here. It's to help them know that it's the dude with mega Karma points who comes up with good answers (tips, tricks, cheats) for the games they're playing and the guy with negative points is BS-ing. (just a surmise on my part) I don't think it really applies to what we're doing here.

Sure wish we could book mark the category instead of each idividual I am sure I am missing lots!!Happy day after fourth!! I've discovered that using the "50 most recent posts" link works the best! When you first open the forum site just scroll down the main page and at the bottom is a box that say forum statistics. In that box is the link for the 50 most recent posts. I usually scroll down to the last one I saw the day before and then scroll up from there to see what's been added. I've actually stopped bookmarking threads since this work better for me. Sue

There's been a change in the "Ranking" notation that appears under your name. I've applied something more "theatrical" in response to a few PMs I received. I've also "upped the ante" considerably between levels. None of this means anything at all, of course, other than a tally of contributions. Eventually, everyone will be a DIVA.
I've no doubt Jo will remain the Champion Poster, but a few of our members questioned the default epithet "God" - which only required 500 posts - and I wholeheartedly agree with them, so... no "vote" this time. Sorry. The religious reference is inappropriate IMHO, and the variations on theater performers suit us better anyway.
As always, your comments/suggestions are welcome.

I like your new ranking notations, Valerie. They're fun and similar to those on BroadwayWorld.com. Good model!

Is there a list of the different rankings? Also that Karma thing is rather odd. I don't use it, doesn't look like it's used very much by others either???

There birchie, I just "exalted" you! I don't know if I even have any! ;D Let me check what my status is after I post this. Edited to add: I have no Karma! :'( And I am a Dreamer! "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one." (John Lennon)

Even though I still don't know what it's actually for and I would never smite anyone :-/ but now I've used it at least! We dreamers must stick together!

Thanks so much Valerie for the new ranking levels! They're much more fun! I have to admit I was uncomfortable by the ranking of "God" too. I was kind of stunned by that being a ranking level. But this new one, I like it!
Since I too am a "dreamer", I shall start warming up for my "audition" with Sue and Nancy. 8-) Can't wait to see Jo soar to Diva soon! ;D

I've been meaning to say something about how completely inappopriate ( even sacrilegious) using the term GOD for a ranking. Initially, I wasn't sure whether it comes with the ProBoard package or not -- but happily, it seems that Admin can exercise some options about it.
Thanks, Madam Administrator, for the speedy action!
Now, I am a SWING -- is that Ensemble?

In my understanding, a swing usually covers multiple ensemble roles in a production, as opposed to an understudy, who covers one specific role. Have fun "swing"ing, Jo! Ellen

In response to a few reports that The Forum boards had suddenly become too wide to fit people's monitors without side scrolling, I have re-sized a couple of overly large photos. Please let me know if this has corrected the problem for you.
