We don't get to see the movie here until APRIL 6, 2016
...but at least we get to see it
Scanty info on iMDB re international release dates...
but I ultimately found the Facebook Page of 20th Century Fox Philippines!
And that would be a little closer to the Summer Olympics fever for 2016...so maybe that is an attractive release date for international audiences ( it is likely that APRIL will be the release month for most countries ??)

Nice video review of the trailer (except for the "Chuck Berghorn" mistake) I find it very interesting how the two trailers differ, with the UK playing up the "British humor" and the US one playing up more of the sentimentality of the story. Wouldn't mind if American audiences saw the UK/international one!
Luckily, both editions are now available on the internet. The restriction on the UK trailer being accessible outside of the UK was resolved by an upload of a so-called international trailer.
Hmmm... I am neither Brit nor Yank ...but I am a great sports fan ( which could be one common denominator on whether to see this movie or not). I would watch the coverage of the Winter Olympics as much as the Summer Games, although the interest was initially fueled by seeing Peggy Fleming skate-dance to our hearts ... I liked watching the speed-skating events...the skiing ( downhill and slalom), also discovered the ski-jumping ( which probably qualifies as an extreme sports because of the danger involved) but what a sight to see winter athletes literally soaring into the air!
I think it is not so much the sentimentality that the US trailer is playing up to...but as the Collider trio enthusiastically talk about -- it is the triumph of the human spirit in a sporting event that is as exhilarating to behold as the victorious run of any athlete! I have seen many examples of sporting triumphs that have become more triumphant because of the adversity that had to be overcome! And any sports fan vicariously shares in the process and the results of that example of the competitive spirit!
This will probably appeal to the male demos a lot...but I am sure Hugh and Taron will have their legion of female fans, too
Where the USA publicity material trumps the UK material categorically is in the poster! The UK poster is very bland and does not tell you anything. On the other hand, the USA poster is excellent -- it shows the spirit of competition and human creativity, laced with humor and warmth...and actually shows the talented acting two-handers who will essentially tell the story! It is very appealing!
PS: If there is one complaint I have come across in FEEDBACK reactions -- it is that both trailers seemed to have wrapped up the entire plot in 2'38"... and is there anything else to see
Several actors, including George MacKay, Jamie Bell and Daniel Kaluuya, were considered for the Eddie role.
However, Egerton clinched the part after performing in what was described to me as a 'magical' screen-test opposite Jackman. The test was filmed in New York, where Jackman is starring in the Broadway production of Jez Butterworth's Royal Court hit The River.

Sean Macaulay Retweeted The Black List Fellow writers, I wrote my first draft of this back in 2002. The best things come to those who never give up.
Are these test screenings ( doubtful, as the film has already been shown at the BNAT17 Festival sponsored by AICN) or are they going to use selected advance screenings to spread what seems to be very positive word of mouth to promote the movie??
I remember some mention that Taron came to see him re the possibility of a film project together - but that was during the last leg of THE RIVER. Hugh was still growing out his hair then ( having just completed PAN a few months earlier - he had very short hair even towards the end of The River. In the earlier months of the show, Hugh was still entertaining some hope that he might have a role in APOCALYPSE, so this could not have happened then? Maybe in deep winter of 2016, before they finalized the casting?
Taron Egerton would kill to do musical with Hugh Jackman: ‘It’s something we’ve discussed’

Taron Egerton would kill to do musical with Hugh Jackman (Picture: Getty Images)Taron Egerton is up for doing a musical with his longtime pal Hugh Jackman. The duo starred in Eddie The Eagle together back in 2015 and have been the best if buds ever since, with Taron dubbing his friend ‘the nicest man on the planet’. And it looks as though they’re hoping to reunite on the screen once more as the Liverpool-born star teased another collab.
Chatting to Celyn Jones at a London event hosted by BAFTA Cymru, on Wednesday evening, the 30-year-old was asked whether or not he’d work with the Wolverine actor again. ‘I normally swerve these kinds of questions,’ he confessed before adding: ‘I would kill to do a musical with Hugh Jackman.’ Beaming at the audience, the Rocketman star wiggled around in his chair as he revealed: ‘It’s something we have discussed.’ The pair have discussed teaming up for another collab (Picture: WireImage)
Talking about his time filming Eddie The Eagle, Taron spoke about how director Dexter Fletcher had been agonising over who should play the role of the coach, Bronson Peary. Explaining how he was called to do a screen test in New York with Hugh, the star continued: ‘We sat in this room and we filmed this scene, and I found out I have a superpower.’ Looking pretty proud of himself, Taron chuckled: ‘I can make Hugh Jackman laugh so easily, it’s definitely a power I have.’ Turning his attention back to the Big Apple, he said: ‘It all felt really right we all went and made this movie. We made it in Germany and it was just beautiful.
It was recently rumoured Taron would take over from Hugh as Wolverine (Picture: Fox / Rex)‘I’m so proud of it and what we did. It might not have landed in the box office but it remains a fantastic episode in my life.’ Just recently it was rumoured Taron would take over from Hugh as the next Wolverine, after Marvel writer Mark Millar casually wrote on Twitter: ‘Taron Egerton will be the next Wolverine.’ MTV asked him about the speculation, to which he said: ‘I think you need better beard game for Wolverine than I have. ‘Look, there’s no grounding for the rumour. I know that that’s probably in the pipeline at some point for Marvel but I would imagine it’s a little way off.’
Taron Egerton breaks silence on rumours he'll replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine Ryan Reynolds continues troll war with Hugh Jackman with expletive-ridden birthday messageThe star went on: ‘If I was asked it would be incredible, but… I have to confess, I think sometimes there are better candidates. ‘Or actually, you know, who knows, if it was in five years maybe I would be grizzly enough. I’m a great admirer of those films and it’s very, very flattering to have even been mentioned.’
He actually graduated from the UK's most prestigious drama/theatre school RADA! His beginnings were in the theatre. He did theatre for the National Theatre ( Jo: W/c produced Hugh's Oklahoma!) and the Royal Court (Jo: w/c used to be run by Ian Rickson who directed The River on Bway)
February 21st, 2019 29 year old Taron Egerton who impressed London’s Theatre profession with his outstanding singing performances in the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer Of The Year Awards, when he won the Overtures Award a few years back, has created himself a remarkable career in film. After graduating from RADA, he landed himself a part at the National Theatre production The Last of The Hausmanns and followed that up with the Royal Court production No Quarter.
