It's deplorable that 2 of Hugh Jackman's recent films have escaped attention of the general public. Hopefully, there will be many attracted to these 2 recent movies, even if only on home video?

These three more recent films in Hugh Jackman's acting portfolio speaks highly of his choice of film projects that highlight interest in different societal issues.

Hugh's speaking voice is one of his acting assets!

Hugh Jackman as an actor is widely recognized for his ability to define a father's role in different film storylines --
Where do you think he has shown his acting ability in the most credible way?
*In PRISONERS, as a near-demented father looking for his missing child
*In REAL STEEL, as an indifferent father out to make a buck with his son...but later discovers his love for him.
*In LOGAN, an unaware father of his biological daughter Laura, who will sacrifice at the end for her sake.
*In LES MISERABLES, an adoptive father who will raise a child as his own and eventually gives her up when she finds love.
*In THE FATHER, a father who bore scars when he was a son, is now confronted by a son who is driven to depression partly due to missing his love and support.
I would even add --
*In THE MUSIC MAN, as a father figure to Winthrop, drawing him out of an unhappy childhood due to his own father's death.

I think I like the relationship in LOGAN best!
From the initial indifference...to the conflict as they became more aware of each other... to acting as a team. as father and daughter, fighting a common enemy... to the final recognition of their relationship!
To see the daughter picking up after the father is gone... is testament to the bond that now binds them.
Hugh's acting goes through phases - an irritable Logan dealing with a newfound child companion, a newfound relationship when he learns she is his biological daughter, a commitment to fight for her sake and the other child mutants, and facing death with a smile because he has finally found peace and a love from his own daughter. His range of emotions is in full display!

Clips from early performances of Hugh -
*"Making the Grade" -the student film where Hugh played a teacher(time of Boy From Oz) *Rehearsals for The Boy From Oz *(Singing with a mic) - could be anywhere- I don't think it is Paperback Hero *Billy's Soliloquy from Carousel concert *audition with Bryan Singer for XMen
Here's "Making the Grade"
I found some filming sidelights for MAKING THE GRADE --

I had just written a post on THE FOUNTAIN... and came to these thoughts -- If I recall correctly, at that time when he made The Fountain, Hugh has said in an interview that it was the best movie he ever made. More recently Les Miserables, Logan and The Son have been added to that list. Each one must have had a personal meaning for him. *The Fountain - Hugh has always been introspective in life. This movie is such a deep and almost hard to define meditation. *Les Miserables - Hugh has acknowledged that this is the first movie project, a dramatic musical, that he ever worked very hard to get. He asked for an audition even when Hooper had not formally signed for the role. This was his most challenging role - the character arc being very rich & complex and the difficulty of delivering the role is acknowledged. *Logan - it had both a personal meaning to him ( as it was supposed to have been his swan song of the Wolverine role) and an artistic meaning to him ( as it became less of a superhero movie but more of a dramatic storyline & characterization. *The Son - the 2nd role he personally pursued to get; it seems it has had personal significance and concern to him. Drama - that seems to be the overarching consideration for him when he choses a role! Jo
