Ferrari just won the first Grand Prix of F-1 2017!! In Australia!! After a winless 2016!
Hugh -- better sign up fast for the biopic... now that Ferrari is competitive again!! Good omen -- Ferrari winning in Australia...and maybe an Australian officially signing up for a film project on Enzo Ferrari!
Just looking at the massive sea of red ( that would be the Ferrari fans called tifosi wearing Ferrari colors) in the audience, and how they all rose to their feet when Vettel overcut Hamilton was a sight to behold! Time to strike while iron is hot!!

If Hugh signs up for ENZO FERRARI and presumably there will be scenes filmed in Monaco, the crown Jewel of Formula One racing ( some of the victories of Scuderia Ferrari were recorded here), he already has a ready-made host in his co-brand ambassador for Montblanc, Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco --

Interview with director Michael Mann about his classic movie HEAT which has been remastered for BluRay release -- he mentions at the end that he is doing FERRARI in 2018 ( as has been mentioned in previous reports). I am not sure if it came from him directly or if t was EW.com which added it as a parenthetical note -- that it is starring Hugh Jackman. ew.com/movies/2017/05/12/michael-mann-heat-4k-bluray/

deadline.com/2020/06/hugh-jackman-ferrari-michael-mann-movie-stx-amazon-cannes-1202962040/#comment-2840315I think we have a lot of related material on this thread, if we need to dig deeper into the storyline and characters. I just checked the book availability on Amazon - er... a hard copy is almost a $ 1000! This is a movie that will really draw Ferrari fans all over the world. Enzo Ferrari, controversial though he was, is the sporting legend in all of the racing world - not just because he was also a racer in his early years but because he built the famous racing and road cars and led Scuderia Ferrari into many wins! And it is hard to find a man who does not want to own a Ferrari Jo

Reposting this -- someone drove a DINO Ferrari ( a true collector's item) once, for a MONTBLANC AD Ahem!http://instagr.am/p/BNCPJaTjiJ0 http://instagr.am/p/BNDG5HFD_lE Hugh driving a Ferrari for a Montblanc ad! And from a previous post on Jackman Ads and Product Placements -- This car was named after Enzo's legitimate son, DINO ( formal name was Alfredo, who passed on early). One of the most coveted is an ENZO from the collection of Ferrari road cars. Jo

When they were promoting FORD v FERRARI -- this article included a LONG clip on the life of Enzo Ferrari. www.autoweek.com/news/people/a2156296/other-85-years-ford-v-ferrari-didnt-cover-enzo-ferrari-passion-speed/If you're a racing fan, it is interesting reading. If that doesn't interest you, some parts of it will provide context to what happened to that dramatic and difficult period in his later life that will be the subject of the MICHAEL MANN movie with Hugh Jackman! If you start at around 28 minutes of the clip, that is the approximate start of that very difficult period in his life. Interesting aspects as far as Hugh portraying this legend in his later years. *While tall, he also grew a bit bulky around his middle - I can imagine Hugh putting on even more bulky prosthetics (as he did with the Tassone character) for the role. Enzo looked patrician though - so that would not be a problem emulating that characteristic. *What might be tricky is the Italian accent. Maybe Hugh should only adopt a hint of it - because the accent sounds a little too melodramatic, if you are not used to it. We'll see. *Something interesting in this bioclip -- when he was in his youth, it seems his early interest was to be " a journalist or an opera singer" -- LOL! Kind of reminds one of someone named Hugh ( who did study journalism and has performed the lead role in a sung-thru musical, which is the closest the theatre comes to operatic works) We'll see how this develops! I don't know why -- but the expression on his face reminds me of a younger Enzo had Enzo been leaner.

Some people are now trying to find similarity in physical characteristics -- Hugh did not look like Barnum, Gary Hart, Frank Tassone at all

I looked it up on Reddit -- *there were 6 separate conversations on the film project *someone said that the thought of hearing the engines rev up in a cinema - is making him already crazy now! ( I wonder, will that sound be the real sound of a Ferrari engine ) *a lot of fans of Michael Mann *they know FERRARI is his dream/passion project for 2 decades now. *there were some Hugh fans -- One said that if he can get away with muttonchops in the superhero movies - he can do anything Another said that if he can be a bald man floating in space with a tree - he can be in anything Re being Italian - most thought it doesn't matter because you need an actor who sells tickets Re the Italian accent - he is not going to be speaking in Italian anyway... but maybe slightly accented English Hope all goes well with the Thursday Cannes presentation! Based on social media reactions - it looks like many people are thinking that this is mainly a racing movie. NOT!Besides, Enzo Ferrari only raced when he was young... He stopped racing when he began creating racing cars that would be known for its speed. He wasn't even initially interested in making road cars. It is all about racing for him. But in his later years, problems arose ... because of certain tragic, difficult, and dramatic episodes in his life. This is the period that will be covered by the Mann project. We will likely see an older and heavy-set Hugh as Enzo ( who was around 59 in 1957 when the dramatic turn of events happened), maybe even wearing Enzo's perennial dark glasses most of the time. It is this dramatic phase that is the main theme of the movie, which presumably will require strong dramatic skills from Hugh to deliver! We will likely see some racing - but with drivers (not Enzo) in the early years of Ferrari racing cars. Btw, if you have seen a real F-1 racing car these days -- it is surprisingly very low and fairly small that you would think it is only a toy. Actually, it is rare to see drivers who are 6 ft and above because they build the very, very expensive carbon-fibre cars very small. But don't be deceived by the size - the sound of its engines ( especially before the current rules declined more powerful engines ) are something else - you need noise-cancelling equipment or any noise-reduction product to watch a race and not go deaf. Some film fans are actually awaiting those noises from the movie ... Ford V Ferrari is more of movie featuring an endurance race ( at LeMans, France). It is not comparable to Formula One Racing ( real speed racing!) where Ferrari is known for. They were the only car manufacturer (since 1950) then who are still among the current crop. Jo

The person that Hugh will be portraying is not exactly like Hugh as a person - maybe quite the opposite?
This is a review of the book on which the script for the movie is based --

Btw, one of the current Ferrari racing drivers ( Charles LeClerc) is sometimes called "young Hugh Jackman" When he is being interviewed, he sometimes does look a little like Hugh. Jo

The focus of the 1957 tragedy was the infamous Mille Miglia, an endurance road race in northern Italy ( similar to LeMans in France, which was featured in FordVFerrari). This will be the setting for the Ferrari movie. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mille_MigliaUnlike modern-day Speed racing like F1 - there are no barriers protecting spectators from any car crashes. In F1 despite heavy protection freak accidents could sometimes cause an occasional tragedy. In some places where street locales are used as racing circuits, like Monaco - there are double-steel barriers in many places and strong ARMCO barriers in other places. Jo

Considered one of the most loyal...and vociferous ... sports fans are the tifosi! Fans of Scuderia Ferrari! It looks like they also welcome the news -- scuderiafans.com/hugh-jackman-in-talks-to-play-enzo-ferrari-in-upcoming-movie/Once upon a time, I used to post on the Official Ferrari Message Board ( no matter that I do really know much about the technical aspects of carmaking - I was just a plain sports fan - one of the tifosi!). One time, the administration decided to invite 15 out of over 10,000 to the inaugural ceremonies for that year's new racing cars at Maranello in Italy ( where Enzo Ferrari had his own house). They were big events, with over a hundred media people around - and sure coverage by TV channels like BBC and CNN. I was one of those invited! But since it took 2 weeks wait time to get an Italian visa ( Schengen, but one of the slowest processors was the Italian Embassy)and because I had to reply within a week's time ( so they could give the invitations to someone else in case I would not be available) - I had to sadly decline it! Lol - quite a few sent me an email asking me to please nominate their names in my stead. I never got to go - and was I envious of the lucky 15 ( including young women) who were also given a tour of the factory and the racing HQ! That was the time of Michael Schumacher - and they were heady times! Jo
