What I will find really interesting is how he is going to sound singing in Les Miserables. Will his singing have a bit of a British accent ? Ironically, while the story takes place in France, with French characters and against the background of some slices of French history, and the musical being an original French score/lyrics - the expectation is that the cast will show a hint of the British accent in the movie. Although it may be not as obvious when people sing compared to when people speak.
The Australian accent is closer to the English accent than it is to the American accent - so, will he be more versatile in switching to it? He has portrayed some British characters ( Leopold, Peter Lyman in Scoop, and Lord Cadlow ( another alter ego of Angier) in The Prestige.
It's going to be a long wait to find out --- unless of course the next trailer will focus on Valjean's singing this time!
