I've also seen The Greatest Showman. Most people I've talked to who have seen it said they really liked it, and that someone who had seen it before took them.

My hypothesis is that many people don't realize what a great entertainer Hugh Jackman is (they think of him only as Wolverine) and so their first viewing of his greater range of talents makes a great impression. Part of Jackman's professional generosity is that co-stars also get a chance to shine.

Re The Greatest Showman, thrilled that NBC promos for Winter Olympics are using This is Me for the theme song.
I noticed and pointed this out last night as well during the Super Bowl. And apparently they'll be using it throughout the Olympics. It's a VERY smart move actually. It only raises the song's awareness which would not only help the movie with box office but the song to win its Oscar nomination. It was already the front-runner, but this can't hurt.

Part of Jackman's professional generosity is that co-stars also get a chance to shine.
The fact that the movie ONLY submitted one song which doesn't feature Jackman (or even Efron/Zendaya/Williams) for Oscars is a bit of playing the game, but also speaks highly of Jackman and the others putting their ego aside to help the film. It's paying off.

I saw it again -- on an IMAX screen once more!

I may not want to see it again, if not on an IMAX screen, as I want to keep those crisp images, clear sounds, and seductive music ever fresh in my mind

Not sure I want to go to a singalong - that would distract me too much and may change my perception of the beauty of the movie!

But this is what drew me initially to the article --

My fascination about the film, The Greatest Showman started out when my 84 year old dad during one of our dinner together said, “You have to watch The Greatest Showman, I did a standing ovation after viewing it. I can watch it over and over again.”

No fan can be too young or too old for THE GREATEST SHOWMAN

So many social media responses expressing how the movie surpassed expectations or that it was nothing they ever expected (meant in a positive way) --

Or how the movie provided personal inspiration --

Astute, but perhaps the more correct appreciation is " a man's ambition", not "greed".

It was Barnum's desire to be thought of as providing entertainment that was high-brow ( which would elevate his social status) that drove him to the financially- and ( almost) emotionally- destructive path.

I remember -- his full-grown son was in another movie -- not Daken, but his clone X-24! A lot of people did not appreciate that the choice of X-24 as the final villain is really a metaphor conceived by Mangold et al. He represented the dark side of Wolverine (for which Wolverine has had personal angst over his ruthless past) and the final fight in LOGAN is Wolverine's final redemption ( symbolizing that he has finally defeated the worse part of his nature, in his self-sacrifice to save the young mutants).

On a lighter note --

I wonder if X-23 and X-24 can sing, too -- not with their claws, though


In THE FRONT RUNNER, Hugh's character will have a teenaged daughter who is very much part of the drama ( I think the son went away somewhere)!

Too many similar posts -- husbands/dads seeing the movie under "duress" and coming out utterly loving it
