Ironically, a lot of enterprising people ( like Barnum himself - LOL!) have gotten business ideas from the movie itself! And how many red jackets ( with gold braids), tophats, fake beards, pink wigs, canes, circus-themed cakes, etc., have been sold

Hugh also acknowledges this group's cover --
And one of the group acknowledges back Hugh's nod --
And more --

That scene at the National Cathedral brings back my recollection of what Andrew Keenan-Bolger ( who was in the workshop -- in the reading for FROM NOW ON, you can see him on the left hand side, facing the screen) said :

It happens in the most unlikely places -- the songs or mentions of the movie! In this case, in a famed car race in America! I had an unexpected moment while watching my usual TV male/female duo doing their daily social commentary ( laced both with humor and serious daily concerns) -- all of a sudden the male anchor rattled off something like " sounded like La La Land" -- then all of a sudden asked his female co-commentator " Btw, have you seen that very popular movie THE GREATEST SHOWMAN?". To which she answered, without blinking an eyelash: "Oh you mean the one with HUGE Jackman?. Sorry, Hugh " Of course, he is still Wolverine around here ...But everyone's playing the soundtrack or doing a cover ( both with an amateur-can't-sing energy or professional-polish-belting) of the songs

I think what the New York Times failed to conclude in its effort to find out what made Greatest Showman click was that -- the movie and its impact has become a true and loved cultural phenomenon!Maybe Black Panther, Last Jedi, and even Jumanji were monstrous box office hits -- but do they have the same impact on lives as the messages and the music of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ?? Let me count the ways -- *People sing the songs... individually or in groups...in heartland or coastal America... from Japan to Scotland ( Inverness)...from family homes, to schools, to cathedrals, and to concert stages...in car ( solo or carpool) karaokes...in French or even in broken English... the only ones I have not seen (yet!) do their cover of the songs and the choreography are the singing and dancing Penguins of Antartica *People have been inspired by the songs -- what more heartfelt appreciation of THIS IS ME than the musical theme of the Winter Olympics by NBC? *People welcomed the movie and the music into their lives - and what more obvious show there has been of it but to join SING-ALONG version screenings! As if saying -- we are one with the movie! *People are scrambling to find top hats, red jackets, canes of whatever size... or looking for fake beards... or wanting to learn trapeze...or trying to see if two left feet can do the intricate dancing from the movie? *People have made stars of two unlikely candidates whose actual faces you have not actually seen -- a relatively unknown musical lady covered in full beard...and a real-life singing diva singing the song of the movie's opera diva! *People are seriously taking note of the many messages from the movie : the themes of acceptance, inclusion, family values, dreams do work- with hard work and imagination, the joy of bringing happiness to others, what is important in one's life is what truly counts! *People have tapped into their (sometimes) unknown artistic ( occasionally commercial) creativity, inspired by the movie -- fanart, dolls, posters, unique calligraphy of the song messages, redjackets, etc. *People who once said: We swear by Wolverine forever and ever ... hey, a singing and dancing Showman is not bad after all *People from across all ages, gender, and borders are all enchanted with the movie, its music, and its movie stars! From the White House to even a kiddie's tent How long will it last? Hmmm... I think people still sing " Do(e), a deer, a female deer..." up to now occasionally, as the sound of music becomes a very positive cultural icon! From : Jo (Obviously biased )
