Hope the love for musicals inspired by THE GREATEST SHOWMAN for these young people will change the perception of musicals as a risky genre, as they grow up

I do not know why FOX did not work out a day/date release of the movie in most countries -- it seems that they were not too sure of their product's appeal because of the genre? They should have listened to Hugh whose ears are planted on the ground because he knows how audiences can respond to musicals like this ( with his musical theatre experience) and he has always been the one in touch with international media and fans, expecially when promoting his Wolverine movies. They lucked on this reversing the soft results initially because audiences embraced it more than a 100%. But it would have been more favorable to the worldwide results if everyone in the world is talking about it ( through social media and mainstream media and YouTube feedbacks) at around the same time for maximum impact! Music has no language! Fox failed to recognize that

I thought I have already seen overflowing love and admiration for the movie and the music! Then I came upon the FEEDBACK section of the YouTube upload of THE GREATEST SHOW -- and they couldn't express their regard for the movie and the score enough! www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyVYXRD1AnsOne even called the opening sequence THE GREATEST SHOW as the all-time best opening in any movie! Sounds like uber-gushing - but that's fine with me I can share a bit about that opening number -- The song, which was a very important song to the project, was not written till much later. It was Michael Gracey's idea to have such a production number( "an epic opening number") to introduce the movie --they had to go through a few weeks ( they even went to work with a pop music great Ryan Lewis) before they came up with THE GREATEST SHOW, which they needed to present to FOX before the studio gave the final ok for pre-production and release date. It seemed that the results were well worth all the effort! Jo

It seems it is the youngest demos from the female sector which is showing the highest love for the movie, per IMDB's User rating profile www.imdb.com/title/tt1485796/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rtThe less-than-18 year old female voters ( although relatively small in number, only 146 of 25000 voters) gave it a solid 8.9 versus the general average rating of 8.0. And the first one we probably heard who said "It's her favorite movie of her Dad") was Hugh's 12-year old Ava, as narrated by Dad himself. Of course, it could have just been very self-serving, Mr. Hugh Jo

This comment probably best captures the cinematic vision of the movie --
that it could be a "romanticized" tale, an artistic interpretation, inspired by what drove P.T.Barnum to become the most famous impresario of his time...and impact on the people he touched along the way!
True art ( paintings, sculpture, and other forms) rarely portray the exact mirror image of the subject ( the time of the classical paintings) -- sometimes they are even more appreciated when shown at a romanticized distance ( the impressionists - my favorites) or at highly re-imagined distance ( modern art of Picasso or Chagall and other artists currently in vogue)!

This is such a poignant but very inspiring response to the movie -- hope it is pointed out to Hugh by someone!

We know fanboys and fangirls ( us, girls, included) can see a show/movie quite a few times, but not usually for couples Maybe it has triggered something special for them! Although if I remember correctly, a couple from Japan was supposed to have seen THE BOY FROM OZ a hundred times ( maybe second only to Maev) Jo
