It looks like FOX may be releasing some of the workshop numbers -- in the session that must have convinced the FOX executives ( from Stacey Snider, FOX Chairman and CEO, down!) that this musical project is worth its transfer to the big screen!
The number that was supposed to have clinched that decision point in favor of a greenlight was FROM NOW ON ( especially so because of the Hugh factor and the appropriateness of the musical number) --

Given the publicity ( and likely sentimental) value of the first release, a second musical number performed during the workshop was released -- the anthemic THIS IS ME by Keala Settle -- Luv how she seemed to have been encouraged and inspired by today's Greatest Showman, Hugh Jackman Hope other numbers in the reading are also released online by Fox!

Hugh Jackman's hopes for the musical to go back to its roots ( where the musical project was first tested and workshopped -- all 5 readings/workhops, with performers and composers from musical theatre) over a number of years since about 2014 -- to Broadway -- might yet come true Jo

Going back through the original threads on the film project -- What a wonderful, wonderful surprise!!!!! *Does this mean that the film project has already been greenlit by FOX? *Does this mean that this film project is going to start production within this year? Maybe after PAN? That maybe director Michael Gracey is putting this on priority ( instead of the Elton John project). Does this mean the film will be getting a release date soon ( maybe for awards season in 2015?) ? *Does this mean that the musical score will be recorded in a studio...and not in the same technique as the LES MISERABLES "live singing" style? Presumably it is not a sung-through musical! *Does this mean that the rewrite of the screenplay by Oscar winner Bill Condon has been completed or nearing completion? *Does this mean that they have cast or are now casting the other key roles? smiley-happy036 Jo

Not from the actual workhops ( but Hugh's own workshop ) -- Reposting this from the Istanbul thread -- The song choice must have been influenced by Hugh wanting to show what the movie is all about -- about what kind of sweet-talker and deal-maker the greatest impresario ever was Jo Yup, now it is clear -- THE OTHER SIDE The first song from the film project sung by Hugh in public! Keala shares her feelings during the workshop --
I have a feeling that the person (or one of the persons) that Hugh bonded the most during this project was Keala.
Keala was with the workshops since the first one ( with Sutton Foster and Aaron Tveit). Ellen also saw her watching Hugh in THE RIVER in late 2014. When Hugh sang unexpectedly during the last number in the workshop ( FROM NOW ON), it was Keala who came forward to hug Hugh after that heartfelt breakout performance.

Not sure if this became part of the workshops or was just part of the earlier demo recordings?

I revisit the workshop clip of FROM NOW ON every now and then -- but today I happened to see that clip and a twitter upload of a good part of the number FROM NOW ON from the movie: It would be interesting to compare the two performances - by Hugh and by his back-up singers. The film clips seems to portray a more realistic enactment of the scene, which was celebratory in nature. Hugh's acting is more of one who discovered what is truly important and meaningful in Barnum's life. There was much joy on his face as he engages in the whooping choreography associated with the movie scene. There was firm resolve on how he is going to map his future and live out his most important dreams ! He was just joyful and that final run to the train seemed like a portrayal of how badly he wanted his dream to come true! In the workshop, Hugh seems to be more deeply reflective. Plus there seems to be slight suggestion of more of a Wolverine-like physical reaction (defiant, fighting mood -- maybe because it was " greenlight or bust" time or maybe at the time of the workshop, Hugh was already about 2 months away from filming the weary/angry old man Logan - jk ). Or maybe at that point he has not fully thought out how he would portray the character or received any directorial acting suggestions? The oddities were joyously celebrating how they found Barnum back and are giddily looking forward to the future of the circus! This they had expressed so joyously in their singing and their outrageous dancing!! They were also so happy for their leader, P.T. Barnum! When he danced with a few of them --that seems to be the moment of full connection for Barnum and his Oddities! Total recommitment for the future! The backup singers in the workshop were also very strongly aroused musically-speaking, but many have noted how it was like going to church and singing as proudly as they could. Of course part of the drama in the workshop is the wonderment about how cancer-stricken Hugh has risen to the occasion and kept his promise " that the show must go on!". It was co-Broadway troupers giving their full support to this boss-trouper by singing their hearts out!

I had the same basil cell surgery on my nose many years ago (too much California sun as a kid). You do have to be careful with the stitches for awhile. Sunscreen is a daily must, and regular re-checks are routine. Doctor's orders, Hugh!

It was never meant for public viewing. At the time it happened, my contact with the production told me about what happened but said that no one except the key people had access to the tapes - they wanted it very much under wraps and only for private consumption. Whoever thought of releasing it a day or so before official opening date ( December 20) was inspired -- realizing that the drama involved in getting the project approved and the movie completed could also be the subject of very keen interest! As of now, there have been 13.6 million hits for the clip of THIS IS ME and 8.4 million hits for FROM NOW ON.
