First time that a Superbowl ad (or is this just the trailer to the trailer - I am confused ) is shown ahead of the actual game






And Hugh is looking prim and grim as Prime Minister of AUSTRALIA! I wonder how The Drover will feel about that

For a brief magical moment, it did seem like a CROCODILE DUNDEE sequel starring Danny McBride and Chris Hemsworth had been filmed under our noses, but it later leaked that DUNDEE: THE SON OF A LEGEND RETURNS HOME was part of a advertising campaign for Tourism Australia set to air at the Super Bowl. Shucks. It likely would have been absolutely ridiculous, but part of me was already anxiously standing in line for my ticket. The latest trailer for the project is the most star-studded yet, bringing out Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, Ruby Rose, Isla Fisher, Liam Hemsworth, and even Russell Crowe! Still waiting on Paul Hogan, but I'd imagine that they're saving him for the Super Bowl...

The fake movie trailer is jam-packed with Aussie legends, plus one Kiwi: Chris Hemsworth stars as Wally Jr., the American Dundee’s outback guide; Aussie soap opera darling Margot Robbie is the beer-skulling, “free beer”-chanting Lil’ Donk; Russell Crowe plays the Murdoch-esque J.P. Steele (does this mean Australia can claim Crowe now?); Isla Fisher is kangaroo-treating veterinarian Dr. Clark; Ruby Rose plays Police Chief Jackson; the younger Hemsworth, Liam, is whale-loving Wes Windsong; Jessica Mauboy plays jazz singer Miss Thompson; while Luke Bracey is “The Cricket Legend” (yes, that’s a job in Australia). Hugh Jackman, in what we can only hope is a glimpse into the future, plays the Prime Minister. No sign yet of Hogan, but you can be certain he’ll be making an appearance: The vague, nonsensical, not to mention unrealistic plot revolves around Mick Dundee being lost in the outback.

This is what Baz Luhrmann’s Australia should have aspired to.
