We do know that there is quite a fight because of Hugh saying that Crowe told him to really hit him that he could take it because of being a footballer, but after about five takes Crowe said that's enough. Even with that Hugh said Crowe could take him in a real fight. I noticed in that clip, when they asked who would win in a real fight between them, that he started to say "that's not me" then quickly said Russell would win, no question (not an exact quote)...I think his brain quickly told him not to say anything relating to the fact that he probably wouldn't have an actual fist fight with Russell or anyone else.

Snuggle4 calls the Oscars derby: 'Les Miserables' will sweep
By Tom O'Neil
Oct 06 2012 | 15:23 pm
"Psst! Tom, it's over. A monster sweep for 'Les Miz.' Mark this date down," says a private message I just received on Oct. 6 from someone who really knows his Oscars. It's our user "Snuggle4" – who won Gold Derby's Oscar predictions contest last year and came in fourth place predicting the recent Emmys. Obviously, he's a Hollywood hotshot because, when I asked him to reveal his true identity to claim a prize after his Oscar achievement, he refused, replying, "Can we just skip the name part and suffice it to say I'm an industry gadfly? … My philosophy on picking winners is easy - don't listen to bloggers and JUST SEE THE FILMS! Down to the last nominated documentary short. Listen to industry buzz, but pay no mind to film critics or you'll be 'Social Networked' right out of contention." When I asked him if he's seen "Les Miserables," he replied with this tease, "I can neither confirm nor deny that I've seen it. Hope that helps … ." Last year Snuggle4 scored 88% when forecasting the Oscars, which was much higher than the 80% reaped by the three experts who won our predictions contest with 80%: Pete Hammond (Deadline Hollywood), Sasha Stone (AwardsDaily) and Tariq Khan (Fox News). At his Gold Derby account page, Snuggle4 uses the image of the mascot of Snuggle laundry fabric softener. <<< ;D ;D ;D Jo

A possible Oscar contender for best original song is the newly released song from SKYFALL performed by pop star Adele. But HitFix has raised the issue of whether the Academy will deem it eligible because it contains a portion which harks back to the original theme in DR NO. www.hitfix.com/in-contention/will-the-use-of-the-original-bond-theme-on-skyfall-disqualify-adeles-original-song-contenderRepeating what Kris Tapley of HitFix said -- "But in all likelihood, this will end up being an easy one to call, as the Hugh Jackman-belted "Suddenly" from "Les Misérables" will be formidable, I imagine" Crossing my fingers 8-)

I don't know where ya'll find all of your information, but it's so nice not to have to go to any other sites. I love that everyone shares everything on here and if someone has a question, someone else has an answer or knows where to find it. I've always loved that about this board, I guess I've just never said it. - Alicia

Does all that mean that "Suddenly" can also win a Grammy? If that's true, then Hugh has a chance of having won every major award? It's such a nice dream to think about

I have not had a chance to listen to the podcast (Jeff Wells and Tom O'Neil) but someone told me that despite "Snuggle4"'s lofty Oscar claims for Les Miserables, that he places Hugh only at fifth place ( and will not carry the day for Les Mis :'() but has confidence that Anne will win. The man has supposedly hinted he might have already seen a rough cut, on which he based his forecast??

Sasah Stone of Awardsdaily writes a blog on the Golden Globes possible nominees, speculating that Les Miserables will go head to head with Silver Linings Playbook -- www.awardsdaily.com/blog/2012/10/08/golden-globes-silver-linings-playbook-to-go-head-to-head-with-les-miserables-at-globes/ Take out the word "Weinstein" and this will sound more like a fair fight > Hope the set visit of the Foreign Press Association ( which awards the Golden Globes), especially that session with Hugh, will give Les Miserables and Hugh an even chance to win the Globes, as these media persons must have seen how the movie was being so meticulously made! Also, some socializing with the HFPA by Universal, Mackintosh and Jackman -- >>>Thursday, May 17, 2012
BUSY TIME IN LONDON FOR HFPA
HFPA members had a busy time on a recent trip to London, visiting Pinewood Studios where they went on the set of Les Miserables and the following day taking a two-hour coach trip to Arundel in Sussex. There, Universal Studios had taken over the ancient Arundel Castle for TV, radio and print interviews with the cast of Snow White and the Huntsman. The restored medieval castle, which has been in the family of the Duke of Norfolk for more than 400 years, was for three days the base for Charlize Theron, who plays the evil Queen, Kristen Stewart (left, Snow White) and Chris Hemsworth (The Huntsman) to talk about themselves and the movie. Guests at a reception at Claridges the same evening included HFPA members, Universal head Ron Meyer, studio chairman Adam Fogelson, theatrical producer Cameron Mackintosh and Hugh Jackman, who stars in Les Miserables.<<<I wonder if this was when Hugh and Cameron Mackintosh were photographed together going presumably to the Claridges ( and were mistakenly reported as heading to Robert Pattinson's birthday bash)? If you can't get into the NYC premiere showing on December 10 ...but live in or near Washington, DC, there is a charity event screening of Les Miserables scheduled on December 12 -- woodleyhouse.org/events.htmlLeast expensive ticket is $ 300. Jo

As much as I want to go yo the one in DC, it's a little pricey. It's right in my back dooe and if Hugh was going to be there, I'd give it a 2nd thought. Gotta save $$$ for Houdini, and I've already started.

I posted Sasha's blog earlier --- www.awardsdaily.com/blog/2012/10/08/golden-globes-silver-linings-playbook-to-go-head-to-head-with-les-miserables-at-globes/But the ensuing feedback section is very interesting reading - especially as they pertain to Les Miserables. It is unbelievable how some people will or can put roadblocks so as not to enjoy the musical...but some earnestly and patiently explain what the musical is really all about. Can you imagine someone saying -- "What, they are just copying a stage musical - where is the creativity in filmmaking there??? " ....So, if you are trying to convince someone ( in the family, among friends, or even strangers at the cinema trying to decide which movie to see) -- you can actually copy what the Les Mis defender is saying ;D I have also been tracking discussions on another message board ( Awardsdaily forum) re Best Actor - I am almost bursting a vein reading some of the inanity re putting down Hugh Jackman's talent. "He is just Wolverine, so he cannot be any notch higher than John Hawkes who is a serious actor!" ...Or " Hugh may be a musical phenomenon in NYC but in Hollywood, he is just Wolverine" Is there a resentment towards the theatre from movie geeks? Since when did people stop appreciating someone with many talents??? Or if a role calls for so much depth do people find ways to make it sound inane because it is only a musical?? Can you imagine the brickbats if Hugh gets nominated, let alone win an Oscar --Sigh................ What a sad commentary when some people simply say no to one of the greatest gifts there is - MUSIC! End of rant Jo

Decades ago, many of the popular songs heard on the radio and sung on TV variety shows (remember those?) were from Broadway musicals. Today, of course, that is no longer the case. Show music is so far out of the "zeitgeist" that it's viewed with disdain (Simon Cowell, disparagingly: "That's so Broadway!") or at best bemusement, the exceptions being certain songs performed on GLEE. There are some young fans of the genre, but, sadly, they are far outnumbered by those who haven't a clue. I sincerely hope Hugh is able to surmount the naysayers and at least clinch a nomination.

And yet musicals like BOOK OF MORMON is enjoyed immensely by a young(er) fanbase ... But I did like I BELIEVE ;D Anyway -- the AMPAS is supposedly composed of predominantly male members with an average age of 62 or thereabouts! Hope these are the folks who enjoyed the show tunes we did in earlier times Jo

I was shopping with my sister-in-law last week and heard a girl on another isle talking to her mother about the Les Miserables movie. She said, 'They're remaking it as a musical. I don't know why they're doing that to it. The one with Liam Neeson was perfect.' I was very tempted to go over and kindly explain to her that the musical has been one of the longest running and most popular musicals ever on stage and that a lot of people have been waiting years for it, and although Liam Neeson is wonderful, Hugh Jackman's Jean Valjean is already being considered an Oscar contender. Silly girl.

Well, regarding these people who just don't get it, we have to remember to just keep our cool and not get upset and explain as calmly as possible why Hugh is more than just and deserves to be nominated, if not win, the !!!

Outside of the almost overwhelming urge to bang heads together when I read some of these idiotic comments, I just keep telling myself, "Wait until 12/26!". These people just don't have a clue about what they are going to see. They haven't sat in a theater with half of the audience audibly sobbing and imagined what it will be like when the limitations of stage are expanded to the possibilities of film.

I know what you mean!! If I have to explain one more time...."yes, its a musical"..."No, really, a musical"..."Yes, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe are in it"..."Yes, they can BOTH sing" I am going to go a bit medieval on someone. Then you have to go through Hugh's entire CV and explain how Russell Crowe is a singer and was Dr. Frankenfurter etc.
Those who prejudge Hugh's performance are obviously not aware of his work - on stage or screen. I am looking forward to the opening of their minds come December 25th!!

You know you have it bad when you can look at a single picture and know:
"Will someone tear these two apart? What is this fighting all about? This is a factory, not a circus! Now come on ladies, settle down I run a business of repute I am the Mayor of this town I look to you to sort this out And be as patient as you can-
