Someone asked on BWW how the Stagedoor situation might be for THE MUSIC MAN. It reminded me of this photo *giggle* (Taken in Spain, when he attended the San Sebastian Film Festival)

You may remember Lou Diamond Phillips - he is a movie/TV actor...as well as a stage actor ( King and I, as the King, for which he was nominated for a TONY in the 1996 revival). He is of Filipino-American ancestry.

I love Lou Diamond Phillips! First saw him as Ritchie Valens in La Bamba (1987) He also had a recurring role on a show I watched, Stargate Universe (2009-2011)

Some have received their tickets or the Download Page notice for their tickets (and others are on a Will Call basis). Are the seats what you thought you had the same as what you have now been informed? Someone brought the issue up on BWW - and someone responded saying that there is some revised seating ( mentioning changes in the Mezzanine in particular), based on the official seating chart vs the BWW seating chart? www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?thread=1121295&dt=2Jo

Someone on BWW is complaining that he/she may not have gotten FRONT ROW seats as he/she thought he had when he purchased Row BB tickets for The Music Man. *The initial offers for The Music Man were for seats " at a Shubert Theatre ", with the provision that they will reconcile the seating when a theatre has been named. That was a risk that initial buyers had to take, so I am not sure there is recourse, legally speaking, against the Shubert Organization. Or even a moral obligation as we were all aware of the risk involved. *When the Winter Garden was eventually named as the official house - I did check out the NEW row -- but nowhere in all the test-checking I did ( including for the dead winter season for theatergoing) did I see those seats come up on offer ( as "Orange" seats). Of course, it could also be that the seats are being withheld for release later on? *Front row seats - I generally like to sit sometimes on the front row or very near the front row (Can't see too well - am not tall enough to peek above the heads of people in front of me). And I also prefer it especially for straight plays where concentration is even more intense! But I have also occasionally learned my lesson before immediately opting for them. When I saw TBFO-Arena in Sydney, I thought I was lucky to have gotten front row - most center seat for Opening Night. True, there was no obstruction at all from any angle! BUT the stage was probably too high or Hugh was too tall -- because I developed a stiff neck which made viewing quite uncomfortable. The Imperial was a different story -- it has a low stage, so watching from there was perfect! ( On a completely different note -- when we did the photo op for TBFO -- Hugh's reply when we were introduced to him was " I saw you on the front row!" )...But you ran the risk of being too close to the sound system ( as I had the bad experience when I saw Billy Eliot there -- but it was compensated by the fact that I could see Billy's dancing feet all the time - the real attraction of the show was his dancing). Of course, the "riverbank" seats for THE RIVER were pretty special! And if you were extra lucky, they included a few of them at the RUSH price of $ 35! We were spoiled for that theatrical experience *So, if you do have some sightline problems - it would be best to research the stage of the Winter Garden before committing to the front row. On this aspect -- I saw a seating chart done for the benefit of BJuice fans which identified where the best seating would be. From it, there was not even a Row BB or a Row AA. Row A was not considered Best Seating for the Price - it actually started with Row B. It could partly be assumed that the needs of the staging required the front space... and I had also assumed that the stage at the Winter Garden would be on the high side. May be OK with some people but not for me. I also understand that people who inquired at the box office and asked for advice were unofficially told that front row may not be the best seating for viewing. *Also, there is a possibility that rows can be eliminated as the show is being developed/rehearsed for a particular theatre. I remember that they eliminated the front row for TBFO during the development phase ( but after we had bought tickets) because they said they were having problems with the spotlights, IIRC. I was lucky to be on the second row because that became the famous ROW AA for TBFO. Those originally seated on the front row were reassigned other seats or given a choice of another schedule. It can also happen that rows are added. That happened with A STEADY RAIN. They added another row in front … which made our original front row seats second row. Knowing how much friendlier the Customer Service of Telecharge is ( compared to Ticketmaster) - I did try to get them changed! Fortunately, the new front row was still available and so they did accommodate my request. Another time - I already had Front Row - Left Orchestra for BACK ON BROADWAY...but later found out that there would be obstructed viewing ( won't be able to see at all) for the part where Hugh would unexpectedly visit the front box. When I called Telecharge - they changed it for me and gave me the aisle seat. Lol - there was a bonus -- because it was the seat which Hugh chose to serenade the occupant in the early part of the show There was only one time when I chickened out of the second row aisle seat that I got. That was for Spamalot! I was told by someone that it was one of the seats chosen to have a chance to find the Holy Grail and then be invited to go up on stage. Arghh… I asked/literally ordered my niece to change seats with me ( she had seats on Orchestra Right). Haha - I did not want to be front and center again in terms of the audience attention... Although I would never regret being chosen with my friend to be Hugh's special Bicoastal "victim". We were on second row at the aisle by the theatre wall. After we complied with his order to dance ( my Broadway debut, with 1400 people at the Imperial cheering for us to do it)… he did slump on the stage floor where he can be reached and asked us " Kiss, kiss, girls??". We flew the space in half-a-second flat and offered our cheeks! LOL! Should you face the same dilemma as the BWW member - maybe Telecharge may or may not be able to accommodate a change in seats? But they don't seem to have any legal obligation to do this. Also, there is a provision in the ticket purchase of No Refund/No Exchange. Jo

More people put in their views on the issue of FRONT ROW at THE MUSIC MAN -- www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?thread=1121308&dt=9*So, it is true that nobody has ever seen any ORANGE seats for Row AA. *Some speculate that it may be used to sell VERY EXPENSIVE tickets or the INEXPENSIVE RUSH tickets ... or the row may actually be removed. *Anxieties growing - LOL! Everyone wants to ogle "Winthrop" Jo

My son and I saw Spamalot from front row center (left, on the aisle) and Young Frankenstein (Shuler Hensley) also front row, but two seats over on the left section. (this was in 2009) We loved it!

Here you are 🎵 🎵 ... 'Til There Was You
There were bells on a hill But I never heard them ringing No, I never heard them at all 'Til there was you
There were birds in the sky But I never saw them winging No, I never saw them at all 'Til there was you
Then there was music and wonderful roses They tell me In sweet fragrant meadows Of dawn and dew
There was love all around But I never heard it singing No, I never heard it at all 'Til there was you

It seems this IS the version that attracted Paul McCartney to the song! Please refer to the thread "Most Romantic Love Song Survey" on the Broadway section. It also influenced his musical taste, leading to some song choices which were not considered rock-and-roll. This is a surprise - a once-famous sultry and smoky-voiced singer named Peggy Lee gives TIL THERE WAS YOU her own interpretation. A bit jazzy or is it a it of Latin rhythm, but it works very well, too! I also watched a clip of Kristin Chenoweth singing the song -- she did it with her excellent soprano tones... but I am not so sure... will modern theatre audiences ( especially the preferred demos of 18-49 years old) react to a different style or range for this song? Personally, maybe I wouldn't mind if Sutton gave the song her very own interpretation. Jo Jo

Not a fan...but an even worse person Whatever her reason ( BJuice or something else) - it is not good to wish ill will, especially referring to health, of another person! Maybe if she only said that she wishes MUSIC MAN to fail...without wishing Hugh to be sick... Sometimes, people do NOT think about things they say. Jo
