But as of now, I cannot figure out how to get the gallery of the chosen 12 works going. Anyone?
Also, the interview with Pete Hammond of Deadline.com is repeated when Hugh was included in the Oscar conversation for The Front Runner.
Likewise, Hugh's Oscar hosting turn is linked to the main article.
To be honest, the article really just touches on some of Hugh's key movies - and it seems he thinks Hugh only does musicals when he is on stage, and there is no mention of his work in dramatic theatre. Hugh emphasizes ( take note from the Hammond interview) that he is first and foremost " an actor"! He emphasizes that his formal training was in the acting course, not the musical theatre course. The path to musicals was unforeseen but it happened... Another winning aspect of his acting skills is how he brings warmth and human interest in movies like Real Steel and Eddie The Eagle. It is a more well-rounded exposition of talent that he brings to the table than what the article suggests ( maybe it was covered in the photo gallery, which I have not figured out how to view at the moment).
Let’s take a look back and rank the 12 best and worst screen performances so far of Jackman. Click through our photo gallery above.
How can they ignore THE GREATEST SHOWMAN? If they based it on the Rotten Tomatoes rating, they should have also looked at the reverse crowd-pleasing Audience Score or read Owen Gleiberman's review( Variety's Chief Critic)!
Happy Feet is not really Hugh's movie -- not sure if that should have a place there. I would rather see Flushed Away for his animation work.
Prisoners is a good exposition of his dramatic acting... but I would not put it at the top of the list.
I would put Les Misérables, The Fountain, Logan and The Prestige ahead of Prisoners -- because the portrayals in those four called for more nuanced acting and more varied character arcs, using his full acting range.
IMHO, of course... but then, to be honest, I don't really care for these Oscarologists website ( mostly movie press/bloggers, and maybe some film critics) -- it is a forecasting group... but it looks like a shepherded group ( What fresh inputs do they really put in?) . Jeff Wells once pointed that out
