I have a cruise scheduled for March 2021 (that was postponed from Mar. 2020) but the vaccine probably won’t come in time for that. They will most likely postpone it again to Mar. 2022!

2 shots wouldn’t bother me. I got the Shingrex (Shingles) vaccination in 2 shots last Oct. and Dec.

NYC to begin checkpoints enforcing state quarantine orders
New York City is beginning traveler registration checkpoints at some entry points to the city to make sure visitors and returning residents are complying with quarantine rules, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Wednesday.


The "Sheriff's Office in coordination with other law enforcement agencies will undertake traveler registration checkpoints at major bridge and tunnel crossings into New York City," said New York City Sheriff Joseph Fucito.

New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have a travel advisory in place for states with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a week average, or any state with 10% of higher positivity rate over a week average. Travelers arriving in the Tri-state area from those states must quarantine for two weeks.

Those coming to New York must also complete a traveler form.

Nonessential workers who do not follow quarantine orders could be fined $10,000. People who do not fill out New York's travel form could be fined $2,000.

States on the list as of Wednesday are: Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

If theoretically the above still holds in April 2021, how will out of tri-state customers from states that cannot comply with the watch rules see The Music Man, if they have tickets?

Johnson & Johnson has agreed to supply 100 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate to the United States for more than $1 billion.

Both the American pharmaceutical company and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced the deal in separate statements Wednesday.

The agreement will support the company's efforts to scale up doses of the experimental vaccine through large-scale domestic manufacturing; the U.S. government will own the first 100 million doses. The federal government also has an option to purchase an additional 200 million doses under a subsequent agreement, according to a press release from Johnson & Johnson.

Johnson & Johnson's vaccine candidate, Ad26.COV2.S, is still in the first and second phases of clinical trials. The company, which has committed to making the drug available on a "not-for-profit" basis, said it will launch a phase three study by September.

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said in a statement that the Trump administration is assembling a "portfolio of vaccines" which will increase "the likelihood that the United States will have at least one safe, effective vaccine by 2021."

(Bloomberg) -- New York City’s public schools can hold in-person classes this fall, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced, paving the way for the district to become the only major U.S. system to open its doors despite growing unease among teachers, administrators and parents.


“By our infection rates, all school districts can open” with tight precautions, Cuomo said Friday on a conference call with reporters. “Everywhere in the state, every region is below the threshold that we established, which is just great news.”

Parents of pupils in New York City have hours to decide whether to opt out and begin the year with all-remote learning.

While Cuomo said districts have permission to resume in-person classes, that doesn’t mean they will. For months, Cuomo has insisted that he has sole authority to decide. But it’s up to local officials to decide how and when to open, putting an onus squarely on the shoulders of longtime rival Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Of the nearly 750 districts, more than 120 have yet to send in a plan and 50 are incomplete, Cuomo said. He didn’t discuss New York City’s plan...

The print quality of the masks is great, I have washed them several times and they still look good as new. The fabric is really good quality and comfortable to wear to the point where I sometimes forget to take the mask off. I didn't like wearing masks when it was introduced but with these redbubble ones I really don't mind at all.

Had to get a Covid-19 test today because I’m having cataract surgery on Thursday. Man, the guy stuck the swab up both nostrils so far! Yikes! Weirdest feeling! The first time I had a test was the end of May and they had me swab only one nostril myself. I know I didn’t go that far up. Now I have to quarantine in the house and stay away from Mom and the cats!

Everything was easy peasy! In at 12:15 and home before 3pm. Going in a few minutes for post-op checkup. The eye is still dilated. Yesterday felt like something in my eye, but today is fine!

Thanks! My vision is so much better in that eye now! Not dilated anymore either as of yesterday. Will have the other eye done in Oct.

Thanks Ellen! It is really amazing how much better I can see! When I get the other eye done, I shouldn’t need readers at all. (can’t remember if I mentioned I paid extra for the tri-focal Panoptix lens)
