I’ve never stopped and analyzed why I love Hugh Jackman. For me, it’s like loving chocolate or puppies or rainbows: effortless. Yes, he can light up a room with a laugh or a smile; yes, he is a generous, consummate professional; and yes, he has that gift for entertaining that takes all your cares away. (See the leggy The Greatest Showman. That is both a reference and a recommendation.) Yes, yes, and yet it’s easy to forget that why we allow ourselves the pleasure of going on visual and aural journeys with him is his mammoth, undeniable talent. In other words, he is so likable, sometimes we overlook that he is among the finest, most committed actors of his generation. All that, and I have personally discovered him to be genuinely, truly, deeply egoless. And delicious, cuddly and magical (chocolate, puppies, rainbows). I’m back where I started; analysis isn’t helping. Let’s just marvel at this wonder and be grateful we snagged a ticket.

Simply calling Hugh Jackman an actor seems inadequate. Yes, he acts, but he also sings, he also dances, he also entertains. His latest stage was the appropriately titled blockbuster The Greatest Showman, which has brought in nearly a half billion dollars at the box office since its release in December. As we've pointed out, he's also knows how to eat a good breakfast, cover up at the beach, and bring it on a stationary bike. Hugh, we salute you.

Jackman will receive the Legend of Cinema Award at the 21st annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival, where several of his fellow stars will also be recognized for their achievements in front of and behind the camera. This year EW is serving as a media partner for the gathering, which is organized by the Savannah College of Art and Design and represents the largest university-run film festival in the country...

On another note, this is also a great opportunity for Hugh to introduce the presumably student crowds to an erstwhile national figure in 1987/1988 Senator Gary Hart and part of his story as portrayed in the movie THE FRONT RUNNER.

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival will honor Hugh Jackman with the 13th annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film. The award will be presented at a black-tie gala dinner at the Ritz Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara on Monday, Nov. 19.

Proceeds will go to support SBIFF’s free year-round educational programs.

Jackman next stars in Jason Reitman’s “The Front Runner,” which opens Nov. 6. He plays U.S. politician Gary Hart, who was a front-runner for the presidency in 1987 when rumors about his private life led to a change in his status, and a change to the way journalists covered politicians.

Jackman’s wide range of roles include his Oscar-nominated performance in “Les Miserables,” as well as “Prisoners,” and last year’s “Logan” and “The Greatest Showman” (two movies that collectively earned more than $1 billion at the box office).

The 34th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival will take place Jan. 30–Feb. 9.

Since 2006, the annual Kirk Douglas Award has been given to an individual who has made a lifelong contribution to cinema in front of or behind the camera. Past honorees include Judi Dench, Jane Fonda, Forest Whitaker, Robert De Niro and Harrison Ford.

In a statement, Douglas said, “I am delighted that Hugh Jackman will receive the 13th annual Kirk Douglas Award. He’s an exceptional talent of stage and screen, and one of the nicest people in the business. It’s my honor to have my name linked with his on this year’s award.”

Hugh Jackman, Glenn Close and Damien Chazelle are among the lucky A-listers that are going to be honored at the Hollywood Film Awards this year.

The X-Men star is taking his rightful place as Hollywood Film Actor at this year's awards. In 2017, the star dazzled fans in his performance for The Greatest Showman.

Furthermore, Damien Chazelle continues his success with the honor of Hollywood Director award following the success of the film First Man. The French-American creative has swept many categories at prominent award shows in recent years for his work on hit movies La La Land and Whiplash. He is posed to continue his winning streak with this award under his belt as we head into awards season.

And last, but certainly not least, is actress Glenn Close who is taking home the award for Hollywood Film Actress. This year, she starred in the film The Wife, alongside Jonathan Price and Christian Slater.


These stars and more will be formally honored on Nov. 4 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the 22nd annual Hollywood Film Awards.

Included in the honorees for the Breakout category is the cast of this year's hit film Crazy Rich Asians.
