Oh, how true --

When he was doing the arena tour in Sydney of The Boy From Oz, after he signed my programme I asked him something but quite softly. He went to the next person asking for an autograph and I thought he did not hear me at all. A few minutes later, I was still there and looking at my programme when this voice asked " Did you want to ask me something?". It was Hugh and I was so taken aback that he had actually come back to where I was standing... it took me a few seconds to come up with my question ( If I recall right, I was asking him about the buzz that he may be headed back to Broadway with " Leap of Faith", which ultimately became a Raul Esparza/Kelli O Hara stage project).

Anne Hathaway finally reveals how Hugh Jackman lost it shooting 'Les Miserables'

LOS ANGELES — Anne Hathaway is not staying silent any longer about her "Les Miserables" co-star Hugh Jackman.
Rather than hail Jackman, 50, with compliments while presenting him with an honor at the Hollywood Film Awards Sunday night, Hathaway revealed previously untold tales from the podium — how Jackman really was on the set of their 2012 musical drama.

"In case you haven’t noticed anarchy is the order of the day. So let’s flip the script," said Hathaway, 35. "I once saw Hugh Jackman, the nicest guy in Hollywood, lose his (expletive)."


She told a story working on long "Les Miserables" rehearsals with director Tom Hooper. Jackman (Jean Valjean) and Hathaway (Fantine) sang every take live in the film, which would go on to win three Oscars (including best actress for Hathaway while Jackman was nominated for best actor).

"We had been at it for hours and were long past the point of exhaustion, in that particular place only Tom Hooper or childbirth can get you," said Hathaway, setting the scene.

During a set break, Hathway noticed a change in the normally affable Jackman. He looked "stormy" and gave a "thousand-mile stare."

"I knew I had to say something so I said, 'Are you okay man?' " Hathaway recalled. "Hugh drew in a ragged, powerful breath, locked his gaze on mine and said through gritted teeth, 'Annie, it's a lot.' "

"That's it, that's the worst behavior I have seen from Hugh Jackman," said Hathaway, as the crowd roared in laughter.


Actually Hathaway thought of another Jackman scandal on the podium.

"He did have two cocktails in one night. I wasn’t there, but he told me he did," she said.
Hathaway said the story showed that no matter what the situation, the "lowest" Jackman ever went was to mutter "It's a lot."

And yet his most famous cameo gave him a three-word dialogue : " Go f*** yourself!"

Hugh Jackman gave a shoutout to Brad Pitt, who was there in a rare public appearance to present an award --

How hot was Pitt? Hugh Jackman gave a stage shout-out to to the star later in the show, even though Pitt has nothing to do with his upcoming movie "The Front Runner."

"Thank you, Brad Pitt," said Jackman smiling. "It just feels fantastic saying that. I’m going to say that every morning."

Hugh mentions that Deb is not much of a theatre person...and his date might be someone else sometimes. He mentions PAT SCHOENFELD ( wife of the late Gerald Schoenfeld) as his usual theatre date.


In that Instagram upload by Donna Karan on Hugh's birthday party held at her place, I think the white-haired woman standing to Hugh's left looked like Pat Schoenfeld.

I wish they had shown that part of Anne Hathaway's intro where she kids Hugh about his loss of equanimity on the set of Les Miserables...and how embarrassed Hugh must have been before he stepped up to receive the award.


I am reminded of that Oscar hosting by Anne when he chided Hugh for not cooperating and joining her on stage.
