http://instagram.com/p/Cd2yfulOjhk Broadway royalty! Hmm... what's the link? Patti Lupone was the original Fantine in the first English version of the musicalized version of LES MISERABLES! (London, 1984) ... while Hugh Jackman was Valjean in the film adaptation of the stage musical. Patti was the original Norma in the stage adaptation of SUNSET BOULEVARD ... while Hugh played Joe Gillis in the Australian production of the ALWebber musical. Jo

List of 2022 Tony Award winners: hereI wasn't expecting them to get all six. Kinda surprised they didn't get even one. It was fun to see 76 Trombones right at the start of the show. Good for Hugh. He got to relax and enjoy the evening. More photos here

Was I not paying attention? Was Deb in the audience next to him?

I didn't see Deb. When the camera cut to Hugh, there was someone else sitting next to him.

There were no predictions of a Tony win for The Music Man Best Actor in a musical was a toss-up between Frost & Spivey. Like in other awards, it seems the awards focused on a tribute to Sondheim, the minorities and edgy material Having seen the show 3 times now - it is exhilarating to see & hear audience reactions! You won’t ever find a more joyful show ever! Worth every cent!! And the Rush Line is proof that it is not elitist entertainment! Jo

The critics did them in!
The jealous chatterati were always dissing the show and Hugh Jackman!
But look at the box office - the show has brought in USD 74 472 million in 5 1/2 months!!
Box office king for Broadway by a mile!!
And check social media — always the most joyful reactions to the show! Thunderous applause within the show, not only at curtain call! Faces glowing with big smiles as they leave the winter Garden

I was SO impressed with their TONY performance! They should have swept the awards, but I agree with Jo's thoughts... it seems like the voters wanted to honor certain categories...It is a pity..when they had "genius" in their face. At least ...the Public appreciates this show and it is successful!

How ironic that the show being touted as the best-Tony-honored show ( Company) is now closing in July. And the show that the voters ignored continues to be very successful at the box office!
They should have conferred the honor of Best Revival to the show which has gained the full affection of the theatre-going public!

I can't find a copy of the full number from The Music Man, which has Hugh singing 76 Trombones in full.
All I could find at the moment --
