Check out a feature article on Hugh Jackman from the New York Times when LOGAN was released which I have just posted.

Some insights that relate to his return to the Wolverine role today.

If Hugh himself felt even a little unsure that LOGAN would be the definitive end to the saga of Wolverine ( and even more surreal that he actually outlined the basic story of the film adaptation on which Mangold & et wrote the screenplay) -- then Kevin Feige was all wrong that he (wants to) believes Hugh should not come back as Wolverine. Feige had more self-serving motives ( he likely wanted to recast the role, which he could keep doing for the next decade or so).bej

It seems that Hugh Jackman's creative juices ( borne from his journalism & dramatic theatre background) must have been flowing at its best in 2017 -- between LOGAN & GREATEST SHOWMAN! And they were two very diverse film subjects -- showing his immense range!

AMC Theaters listed Deadpool & Wolverine on its website with a runtime of 127 minutes (2 hours, 7 minutes).

However, this runtime has not been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios ahead of its July 26 release.

This would make the threequel the longest Deadpool movie in the franchise after 2016's Deadpool clocked in at 108 minutes (1 hour, 48 minutes) and 2018's Deadpool 2 ran for 119 minutes (1 hour, 59 minutes).

Deadpool 3 would also rank as the seventh-longest movie in the Multiverse Saga.

This runtime would make it one minute longer than 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and five minutes shorter than 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Below is a list of the runtimes for every movie in the MCU ranked from shortest to longest, with Deadpool & Wolverine being the 19th-longest film in MCU history:

What Deadpool & Wolverine's Runtime Means
In truth, Deadpool & Wolverine's rumored runtime would only make it eight minutes longer than its predecessor and 19 minutes longer than the original film.

Even if this length is confirmed to be true, it means MCU fans are in for a wild ride from start to finish in the franchise's first mutant-led film.

The rumored and confirmed cameos in this movie already have those excited for the blockbuster on the edge of their seats, especially after Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld hinted how massive the final call sheet would be.

Doctor Strange 2 showed MCU fans what could be done on the cameo front with a comparable runtime, which should bode well for a film featuring X-Men characters all the way through.



Test screenings for the threequel have also indicated fans are in for a "really good" movie, hopefully setting the stage for a successful MCU outing regardless of how long it is.

It's also considered to be one of the most important upcoming movies in Marvel's slate alongside the next two Avengers films, leaving many hopeful that the studio put its best effort in to make it a winner.

Deadpool & Wolverine will debut in theaters on July 26.

Fanboys want it a little longer --- maybe 2'15" or 2'20" --

something to do with establishing rhythm -- I have no idea what they are talking about...

but fanboys have a feel of what makes superhero movies great!

I wonder - maybe the leak about the length of 2'07" was just to test fanboy reactions??

On the other hand --

I remember being disappointed when Tom Hooper said that he had about 4 hrs of film (Les Miserables) when he first assembled them. Then he said he had cut it to 3 hrs... then he said he would try to trim it to 2'30" ( more or less) --

as it turned out - 2'30" was still a bit long to sit through a dramatic movie.

I guess the director uses his best judgment to put together the film at a pace that does not create audience weariness but that it also is able to carry its full message or story.

I only hope that Disney/Iger/Feige do not push through with their agenda and destroy the creativity that Levy & his 2 co-starts have tried to imprint on this movie!

As the fanboys would say -- if the movie is perfect, no amount of seeing it over and over will make them tire of it!!!

Ryan Reynolds Was “Surprised” and “Grateful” Disney Allowed R-Rating for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
The film, due out July 26, will make history as Marvel's first R-rated movie.

Ryan Reynolds said this week he was “surprised” Disney allowed the R-rating on their upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. The film, out July 26, will be Marvel’s first R movie.

“I hope this doesn’t sound condescending, I’m really proud of them for doing this,” Reynolds said during an interview with Fandango. “It’s a huge step for them, it adds a whole color to this kaleidoscopic wheel that is that company and the different people that they have been entertaining for forever.”

Reynolds also said the rating wasn’t about “exploiting” the ability to “just do R-rated stuff,” but because “there’s no other way to do it for this character in this world.”


Deadpool & Wolverine will also feature a crossover with Hugh Jackman’s Logan, the X-men character from the movie of the same in 2017, which was also rated R. Reynolds said the R-rating on the upcoming film was necessary to maintain the “full-throated version of Wolverine of Logan.”

Director Shawn Levy, also present for the interview, echoed Reynolds’ point. “We were clear from the get-go… If the three of us are going to do this, we’ve got to be truthful to the tone of a Deadpool movie. And that means we’re not softening the edges, we’re going to be audacious and funny and edgy.”

He added that though they expected significant pushback from Disney and Marvel, they were actually met with support. “They kind of have trusted us and allowed us to do the version of Deadpool and Wolverine that we feel is best.”

Marvel boss Kevin Feige teased the project at CinemaCon in April, and he celebrated the R-rating with some F-bombs onstage. “It’s fucking awesome,” he said.
