A painting of a veteran recalling D-Day!
This year, they are celebrating the 80th anniversary of D-Day!
Years back, we had the opportunity to join a Trafalgar tour that would visit one of the cemeteries commemorating one of the milestone anniversaries. We had an Army high-ranking vet with us who arranged entry to the place.
When we entered the place -- you could see miles and miles of white crosses of the fallen soldiers.
When we moved closer -- we saw that the crosses all bore the same date - June 6, 1944!
I was never so shocked and so sad in my life -- all of them fell on one of the Normandy Beaches on the same day -- when the Allied Forces landed on the shores of France on the way to regaining control of Europe from Nazi Germany.
I could never forget how we felt at that moment!
