Well.....here it is..............the trailer for Movie 43. For those of you who are offended by language or by sexual content, please do not watch this. Oh, and by the way, they've blocked out Hughie's chin you-know-whats. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jDp2D2zWMI

From watching the longer trailer, I don't know that this is my kind of movie... maybe late one snowy night when it's on cable, but probably not worth a trip to the movie theater. That said, here's another trailer for you. It's in German, but don't worry -- the visual will be what "gets" you. www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-Hlk-f5Q38

Why did Hugh agree to do this? Nancy

Give me a musical anyday or a good drama. I didn't even watch the trailer in the link. As soon as I saw what it was linked to I clicked off. I saw 1 picture of him in this role last week and it turned my stomach. I don't want any part of it. I don't know how he could have done this part. I guess he thought it was funny.... Sue

He does sometimes exhibit a one-of-the-guys, goofy, juvenile sense of humor. Other factors might have been the chance to work with Kate Winslet, however briefly, or the fact that the movie is the kind hugely favored by young people (well, at least those over 18), a desired demographic. Just my theories.

I saw the movie today. It is crude, filthy and funny! Not for the easily offended. Hugh is hilarious and you must stay through the first part of the credits for a short outtake of his sketch that was not put in the sketch. It is gross and really funny!

Thanks for your review--I'm definitely going to catch it; not sure yet whether in a theater or on home video.

Not something I care to see, even for free. Sorry Hugh, I wish you hadn't lowered yourself to make this trashy movie! Sue

I'm passing on this also, at least for the time being. Maybe, just maybe, if there is NOTHING else to watch, and it's streaming on Netflix, I'll take a glance.

Thinking back to the review of Movie 43 in The Wrap, it occurred to me that Hugh might have agreed to this part to show that he can do comedy. He loves to try different things and he has never done a comedy movie.
Also when he agreed to the part he might have only reviewed the skit he was to take part in, he might not have taken into account the cumulative effect of a large number of the skits.

That could be true. I also thought perhaps it was a favor for someone. For whatever reason I try to think that he didn't know the extent of the trashiness. I know one of the first things I heard about it was that Gerard Butler was playing a character who is a dwarf. With several fine actors who are dwarfs I think that was insensitive, harkening to days of black-face. Although someone like Peter Dinklage would probably turn it down if it pokes fun at little people in any way. The movie just doesn't strike me as something Hugh will be proud to have been part of. I read that this morning. Bottom line is that the movie failed miserably, and there is some indication that the actors didn't know how it all fit together. Glad the movie, and its failure, went largely unnoticed.

I agree with both of you, Sue and Carol. I'm not going anywhere near it. Just not my cup of tea. Some review called it "An orgy of bad taste", but I didn't even feel like reading the review.
Did anyone watch the Richard Marx collage video? I think our friend and fellow Ozalot Oxana-Rachel did a wonderful job lip-syncing in Moscow, and a few other parts were fun too, but I didn't really care about Hugh's part singing from the toilet, or a number of other segments either.
Oh well, I guess Hugh has this other wacky side.

In an online interview in the Huff Post today, Justin Long was asked about the poorly received MOVIE 43. I liked this part of his answer:
Interviewer: "I have a feeling that most people in it didn't know it would turn into that." Justin Long: "Hugh Jackman! I mean, if you're going to go down, at least go down in company like that."
Good company, indeed.

I kept hoping it would just quietly go away but people (I use the term loosely) keep putting it up on YouTube. Probably those with the same sort of mentality that would have enjoyed the old Carnival Freak shows back in the day. Still hoping that eventually it will fade away. Sue

Have you seen Book of Mormon -- the most popular and hardest to get ticket on Broadway?? Er... some of the profanities and even some of the props on the African villagers are not too far off from the Movie 43 humor ( or sort of).
