He did fly into Narita Airport. Is it just me or does he have a little bit of a Wolverine sculpting going on there on his chin? If Prisoners is supposed to film before the Wolverine First Class movie what does that mean...or does it mean anything??? I don't recall a time when he wore that sculpt design except for Wolverine! I love this. Another scene I'm going to be crying hard at. :'( I saw a link to it this morning but didn't click on it because it looked just like the original behind the scenes thing that people keep re-posting. Silly me!!! Thank you for saving me from my folly! :-* Sue

Sue, I think he just hadn't shaved in a few days! ;D Nancy Yes that's possible, he does that all the time, but he doesn't usually do it in this fashion. We can probably find 200+ pictures of him unshaven but not looking like the Wolverine sculpt unless he's about to do a Wolverine movie. I found this odd. Could be just me. It made me wonder about a couple of things... 1. Has Prisoners been pushed back further? or 2. Could he just be doing a small cameo in the new movie that would only require a few days of filming. Maybe he made a deal with Bryan to just shoot a couple of scenes early that don't really need any of the other cast members. or 3. Maybe James Mangold needed a scene reshot. Just speculating.... Sue

Thanks, Sue, for also saving me from the folly of thinking this was the same USA TODAY article written by the same author and not looking at it -- until you posted it ;D
Re the red-bolded comments -- for one, I have read that he was offered the Javert part in the Australian production but that he declined it. Not sure if he was referring to the London production or the Broadway staging then -- and he is known for not wanting to do stage material which is not original ( except he did it for most of the stage musicals/concerts he has done - Beauty, Sunset, Oklahoma, Carousel - LOL!). Also, TBFO was in the offing in the early part of the naughts ( 2000's) so, that was another reason not to do Les Mis. Les Miserables and Hugh ultimately found each other -- in the movie musical version -- utterly a stroke of fate. Just plain kismet -- for Mackintosh, Hooper, and Jackman -- that the stars aligned for all three key people!
Re his facial hair -- I have been noticing it, too -- but I am not too sure he is growing it for something now, because he seems to continue to keep it at the same length. Days of Future Past is supposed to start filming only in April.
>>>A. I am in the middle of doing a new stage musical, Houdini, now. Aaron Sorkin is writing it and Stephen Schwartz is doing the music. Jack O'Brien is directing. We have been at it for a year and a half now. And I say we are about halfway through it. But new musicals take a lot of effort. Fingers crossed this one goes well.<<<
A while back, it was written up that they will be doing the workshop for the first act in January ( maybe before Prisoners?) -- so this is just about right according to schedule.
On a final note, there is so much discussions re an Oscar for Hugh for Les Miserables -- now that I am getting acquainted with the almost sordid politics of the game -- maybe what is most important to Hugh is that he has done the best that he could in his dream role of a lifetime! It is the journey that ultimately counts!

I'm guessing that Jimmy Kimmel Live is no longer live, considering Hugh's episode airs tonight and he's already in Tokyo. Also, he looks rather dapper to have just flown from LA to Japan. - Alicia

For one so young, Sammy has her head in the right place! Too bad she was not part of the team that handled the post-screening Q&A. It would have been refreshing to hear the views of the baby of the cast...but who is also the one with the stage experience with the musical!

I remember there was a report a long time ago that has recently been repeated a couple times about him being offered Javert in Australia. This was the first time I recall hearing(reading) him say something about it. No wonder he stalked Tom for the part this time!! I'm sure Hugh will be humble and filled with gratitude for whatever accolades he receives and he will quickly dismiss "the one that got away" if he doesn't get it...it's just us who will be kicking and screaming if he doesn't get the Oscar. Although, I confess I am totally ecstatic that he has given the performance of a lifetime and that he is so pleased with his experience! No matter what happens, they can't take that away from him...or us! I'm going to start watching his chin more closely in the next couple of weeks. It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it! 8-) My cousin, who doesn't care about any of this just called to tell me that Hugh is on Kimmel tonight! I have sweet friends and family! Sue

Wow -- look at this > Yuriþ@yurixlax @realhughjackman greeted Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito at Les Miserables charity preview in Tokyo on Dec. 18, 2012. bit.ly/12mmEnm Look - Hugh is the top of the hierarchy from the movie -- he stands first, after which you can see Hooper and then Mackintosh. His heart must be so filled with awe and joy! The Japanese distributor must have done everything to make this the best received movie of the year. I did not even know there were royal performances there , that is so common in the UK. Jo

Another photo - with Hugh seated next to the Crown Prince presumably at the actual screening ? And another one -- I wonder - will The Wolverine be given similar distinction Jo

Funny to see Hugh looking relatively diminutive seated next to Tom Hooper. Hooper's only a half inch taller. So it must be true that Hugh's height is largely in his self-described "showgirl"-length legs. Ellen

I wonder if he spotted someone from the audience using these small binocs/opera glasses and borrowed them ? I remember seeing one performance of TBFO where he spotted someone from second row or thereabouts using similar binocs and he said " You want to see my xrays?" LOL! He also borrowed the binocs and started looking through them at the same person ;D Jo

ONE DAY MORE full clip - from a Spanish site! > > > www.lasexta.com/videos-online/sexta3/noticias/imagenes-excusivas-miserables_2012121800020.htmlVisually and vocally stunning! This is one reason why film trumps the stage in many respects. Onstage, the marching choreography and the stage blocking and some of your imagination let you picture in your mind what was happening at this momentous occasion. Here, you can see and hear how the individual characters with differing points of view and purposes portray those differences...and then converge to the moment of truth and become united in their cause! I can't wait to see this in a big cinema and with gorgeous full-on sounds! One month more less three days ( for me!) Jo

Thanks so much, Jo for all the links. I saw Katie, but Jimmy Kimmell comes on real late. You just gave me back several hours of sleep. Not that I mind loosing sleep for Hugh, but Katie's interview was great. He looked much better then before, and he was his wonderful upbeat self. Wish I would have had a seat.

Re the featurette on Hugh --
It looks like the part of his contract where he needs to take off his shirt is still operative ( even when he is gaunt and has lost some 15-20 lbs) ;D
But he sure looked strong carrying that broken ship mast !!

That was a beautiful piece. And I love the two bishop pieces too. I haven't watched the One Day More video yet. I'm trying not to. I saw it posted on IMDB earlier today and since it's the whole number I really want to wait and see it in the theater. I've seen parts of it and don't really want to spoil it anymore. So torn!! I know you still have to wait even longer so I don't envy you that. So grateful my wait is almost over! Sue
