Beautiful trailer. I got my wish, albeit a very small dose! But it was so lovely to hear Hugh sing the beginning of One Day More!

It looks like he has quite a few spoken dialog ( which makes it sound more realistic ) - the trailer is still hiding ( a little ) that it is basically sung-through. Have you also noticed that he talks/sings some of the songs' beginnings? I think this deepens the acting aspect - and strengthens his portrayal of a role or a situation, instead of just singing a song, per se. If there is anything that will enhance his Oscar chances, it will be how he re-interprets the role essayed by many stage Valjeans! I have watched it a few times now -- this is a different acting Hugh Jackman...and I am elated, award or no award Jo

Love it and I keep finding new little things and nuances. I think Isabelle is going to break hearts. I love his greeting to her and the last scene with Hugh holding her smiling a beautiful smile. I'm hoping someone will capture a screenshot of the confrontation scene with Javert and his sword and JVJ with a plank and a very ferocious look on his face. Love that, can't wait to see it played out in the movie! And, you're right Jo, it's great the way he's interpreting this role with a combination of singing and saying some of the lines in the recitatives/songs. A couple of YouTube links have been put up. I wonder how long they will last. I have a feeling many more will pop up. Universal may have a harder time containing this one. Sue

I wondered that too. It's kind of funny watching them chase it around the net though. One goes up, they take it down, it pops up somewhere else, they take it down. I've seen it go up and down about a half dozen times, on different sites, so far. I hope they'll just leave it be after maybe a day of this nonsense. They end up looking silly otherwise. Sue

Sasha Stone of Awards Daily ( the other Oscar forecasters) call it "a brand new beautiful heartbreaking Les Miserables trailer"! before it was taken down.

I've read the screenplay a few times and he must be some kind of genius to be able to figure out the percentages like that. Sue

I found it on IndieWire, too, and managed to save it before it could be taken down. But as far as I know, it's still up there!

Thank you so much Birchie. That's the one I saw last night on TV. The interview was also great with Anne Hathaway. I remember seeing her at BOB. When she walked out of the theater, she had her head down and talked to no one. I guess she didn't want to steal any of Hugh's thunder. It's really getting harder and harder to wait for the 25th. It's got to be a winner!!!

It's the full trailer (2:30+min.) that's been shown in the UK the last week or two. Maybe I'm misreading what you said. Anyway it's been put up on Playbill now so that one might last. Universal has been taking them down left and right all day on many different sites. The 2 new TV spots are readily available on YouTube. One is called Medley and the other is called I Dreamed A Dream, which I think is the one you saw last night. But they are short videos. Medley is :30 and IDaD is 1:30 and is a revamp of the older teaser that came out in May. It does show Javert on his horse though. ;D

Maybe I can watch it Sunday on one of my apps and fast forward through the other stuff.

Re Hugh/Valjean's ONE DAY MORE part -- Hugh/Valjean is riding on a coach presumably bound for Calais with Cosette, to escape the pursuing Javert. That was the right way to contemplate the impact of what they were doing. He could not be belting out his thoughts from the coach - that would sound a little ludicrous. LOL! Hugh is reinterpreting the way the role has been portrayed on stage ( all those with no holds-barred singing, who cares if the acting is secondary??) -- and with directorial choices being made by Hooper. There is a lot of dialog and a lot of talk-sing, especially from Hugh, partly to illustrate that the acting or portrayal of character or a situation is more realistic and that the intimacy of the big screen ( rather than a stage production) is dictating this kind of close-up performance ( there will be time for the big numbers!)... ....and maybe, partly not to scare people from a completely sung-through format.
I think the trailer is meant for general audiences, not for musical theatre geeks Jo

I also liked the way Russell was acting/singing his One Day More part - very dramatic, an excellent directorial choice! He looked like he was briefing his troops, which is what it should be. Very firm and decisive, with military precision! On stage, Javert comes out of the blue, like a cameo, and simply belts his lines ( to the audience).

Soft, introspective, the character is thinking to himself, like...Oh dear here I am again, will it never end...basically, thoughts that are sung. There will be the inevitable negative comments on why isn't he belting it out. I thought it was beautiful. I'm sure it will get more forceful as the thoughts/emotions progress through the singular One Day More lines climaxing in the final chorus with everyone. I think the whole thing will be amazing.

It might startle the horses ( of the coach) ;D
Seriously, I can't wait to see the rest of the Hugh acting feast. Even the beginning " I'm cold... let me stay at the inn tonight ?" -- can you imagine the impact of these lines if you see it on Christmas Day?? No room at the inn!
And I do love his nodding his hat to little Cosette and his face breaking out in a rare smile, when they first meet in the woods -- probably one of the rare moments in the life of Valjean (so far) where he is happy *heart icon*
And did he call little Cosette " Mademoiselle" as he tipped his hat -- heartbreakingly sweet!

For Birchie...and for everyone Where did Daily Mail get the above clip? I can't remember seeing it in the trailer. Must be the Brit connection in London ;D And Valjean, as he contemplates whether to fight it out with Javert or escape...and confront him another day? Jo
