Just had to share! Some of you know that the film Moonrise Kingdom, directed by Wes Anderson, stars my Godson, Jared Gilman. Tonight the film won Best Feature at the Gotham Independent Film Awards! We are so thrilled! Jared made a speech at the awards presentation, thanking his Mom first, and then Wes, and his fellow cast and crew members. Very exciting! www.thewrap.com/movies/article/who-won-what-2012-gotham-independent-film-awards-66536Cheryl (Very excited Godmother!)

I saw that happy news on an alert from The Wrap late this evening and thought of you, Cheryl. Congratulations to Jared, his family and everyone involved with that charming movie.

Wes Anderson's movies are just so good. And Jared is very impressive! Here's a tiny bit more, "for those of you who like reading." Clearly done in a big hurry and on zero money. These "books" sort of remind me of "The Mysteries of Harris Burdick." Like "Harris," they make me want to know more and to imagine what might be next. Cheryl, I just realized I hadn't responded to your question, sorry. Yes, hubby and I liked the movie very much--its whimsy and quirkiness, the winks at movie conventions (regarding the fate of dogs, LOL), the colorful palette and of course the performances. Jared and the girl who played his "wife" very convincingly project the quiet angst of pre-adolescence. The associations with superstorm Sandy aside, it's a sweet, charming quasi-fairy tale very deserving of any awards that come its way.

Cheryl, I'm a bit slow, I'm afraid - I just made the connection. We saw this last week, and enjoyed it very much. Your godson is a very talented young man! The movie was very well-received critically, and it's good to hear that it's being officially recognized.
I'm sure you're bursting with pride - as well you should be!
