Sightings

- Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted at the Whole Foods on Ponce Thursday. He and Hugh Jackman are here filming Prisoners. (as ATLwood friend @unchainedfoodie summed things up, "Hugh Jackman & Jake Gyllenhaal are filming in Atlanta, so be on lookout and don't fall in puddles of estrogen forming all over the city").

- According to a friend, Jackman is living in Decatur right now, and has been spotted at a gym nearby ... #EyesPeeled

- Prisoners, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman, was spotted this week filming in the Stanton Woods Subdivision in Conyers. Base camp is said to be at a nearby Methodist Church.

Too bad he probably won't have much if any chance to hang with ol' bud Shuler Hensley, a Georgian. Hensley is in NYC getting ready to play the corrupt political boss in Encores!'s FIORELLO! next week, which I'm looking forward to catching.

Timing is everything!! I hope someone puts a couple videos up on YouTube of Shuler doing Fiorello. I'd love to see it but won't ever be able to except for good old YouTube! Hopefully we'll see a video or two of Hugh in Georgia soon too.

Anyone know if they are now filming the whole thing in Georgia??? I haven't seen any mentions of PA or CT for some time.

Filming is moving to Monroe, GA next week at 1605 Troy Smith Rd.

We had a ton of rain and tornado warnings and watches all over northern GA today so needless to say I didn't go to Monroe! Filming was probably cancelled anyway.

They continue to film even during the weekend, even if Hugh is expected in LA for the Oscar rehearsals and for the Big Night itself ( Feb 24). It looks like they are still keeping to the planned dates --

The Warner Brothers distributed film is shooting mostly in Conyers from Jan. 16 - March 26.

ON A film set in Atlanta two weeks ago, Hugh Jackman was at the charismatic, compelling peak of his screen powers - a best-actor nominee at work, nailing a scene with such conviction onlookers were stunned by his intensity. When the scene was done, Jackman was excited, too. He was thinking about the Oscars.

Taris Tyler - like Jackman, an Australian actor who traces his Hollywood dreams to formative years in Perth - had been watching Jackman work, as he has done many times before, but he had never seen his friend scorch his way through a script as powerfully as he'd done that day.

''He'd just done this incredible scene,'' Tyler recalls of the moment on the set of the movie Jackman is currently filming, Prisoners.

''I'd never seen him act like that before, and people on set were just speechless at how good he was. I was already emotional after watching that scene play out, and as he came off I went up to him to tell him how good it was. But he was more excited with what he had to tell me...

I am hopeful about this role and Hugh's performance!

Another Hollywood production comes to town.

A movie called "Prisoners" is shooting scenes this week at an industrial complex in Tucker.

Starring in the kidnapping drama are Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, and Melissa Leo, among others.

The scenes shooting locally are set in the fictional city of Conyers, Pennsylvania. When Patch visited the set on Tuesday afternoon, actors and crew were working on a scene in which a young couple walks out the front entrance of a police station and is accosted by press photographers.

Gyllenhaal plays the role of Detective Loki, who follows the couple out of the building. Jackman's character is Keeler Dover, seen sitting in a pick-up truck near the station.

"Prisoners," which originally included Leonardo DiCaprio in the cast, is set to be released in September.

There are thumbnails of Hugh ( second one) and the other actors, but I can't reproduce them. Please click on the link and then further on the thumbnails to get Hugh's photo. He is shown seated in a truck waiting for something to happen?

This is going to be very suspenseful! I wonder if they've made many changes to the script. I still need to read the script again. I don't remember a young couple being questioned at the police station. Note to self-read it again!

I bet Hugh's glad that he can just concentrate on his main job now for a while after all the running around promoting the movie & dealing with the awards circuit! I almost wrote circus...that might have been more appropriate LOL!

Analysis: Alcon Entertainment certainly has confidence in this thriller, setting the film's release date long before production has begun - not strange for a tentpole, but a little unusual for a film in this genre. Several different names have been attached to the project over time, including directors Bryan Singer and Antoine Fuqua, and actors Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio. It was highly acclaimed "Incendies" director Denis Villeneuve though who ultimately scored the task of helming it.

Aaron Guzikowski ("Contraband") penned the Black List script which revolves around a small-town carpenter named Keller (Jackman) whose young daughter and best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands. In the process, he runs up against the big city detective (Gyllenhaal) assigned to the case.

Villeneuve's second English-language thriller following the much smaller "An Enemy," this actually hasn't even begun filming yet (it was waiting for Jackman to finish both "The Wolverine" and his "Les Mis" press commitments) and is already locked into a fairly break-neck schedule that will see it hit cinemas in September. To be shot in Connecticut and Georgia, the project boasts a superb cast including those listed above plus Viola Davis and Melissa Leo. Could be a serious contender if it is pulled off.

I haven't seen that poster anywhere. IMDB still doesn't have much on the Prisoners page. Nicely done if it's fan-made.
I think Viola & Terrence play the best friends across the street whose daughter was taken with the Dover girl.

He is also hopeful about the film given its excellent cast.

I called my son after I saw that video to tell him what Taris said. Wow, I can't wait to see this movie! Film crews have seen it all so it must have been a truly intense scene to affect the crew that much.
