Don't be sorry for the huge photo! I love it! I really like the larger ones, since they show more detail.

Is that REALLY the same person we saw at BOB? ;D. What a difference a year makes. I guess no one can call him sticks now!

From CinemaBlend -- Jackman is insanely ripped in this shot, displaying a body that, with the help of some shrewd shading, looks like he's not a man of steel, but a man of adamantium! In the distance and out of focus, you can make out what appears to be a Buddhist temple.LOL - I did not notice the Buddhist temple background - too busy concentrating on the Wolverine physique Jo

Holy cow! That's impressive! Not that I expected any less from Hugh in this role, but all of those shots with his clothes on and thinking about how lean he was this time around had me thinking he wouldn't be as toned. Was I wrong or what? Glad to see Wolverine back, though. He's always been my favorite.

Come on girls, there has to be some airbrushing/photoshopping going on with that pic! (especially the arm veins!) :o

I agree Nancy, the veins look a little extreme, even for him, but the whole look has an excellent impact. He reminds me of Bruce Lee. Anyone else think that?

Yes, there is always Photoshopping going on in an official photo like this. What I love this most for is the intensity of his expression and the mood. Not such a big fan of the popping veins, actually. But I know they often enhance them by making him hold sandbags/lift weights and such just before they take the photo, to make them pop. I suppose they want to make him more appealing to the comic book fans?

And his head looks suspiciously large compared to his chest, at least going by what I've perceived as the ratio in past photos. Still--oh, my--quite impressive. Ellen Ellen, that is exactly what I thought when I first saw this photo! Yes, he's absolutely gorgeous, of course, but his head just doesn't look right in the shot. Usually the ratio is the other way around and his head looks too small for his body, but here it's reverse. For some reason, I just can't stop staring at the difference. I don't know, if perhaps, it's because he's leaner than usual for Wolverine or I'm just seeing things.

The beard obscures the jawline and makes it look more substantial from that angle. I think this combines to give the illusion of a better balanced head size.

I can't believe all the films Hugh has coming out! October he's got BUTTER, November he's got RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, December he has LES MISERABLES and January he's got MOVIE 43 (or whatever they are going to call it). Then, in the early part of next year he will film PRISONERS while THE WOLVERINE is due to come out in July. Then, I'm sure he will start on HOUDINI or is there another project in there I'm forgetting? Whew, I'm exhausted, I think I need a break.

Wolverine is coming out in July instead of May? I was expecting a Memorial Day release. Isn't that when all of the other X-Men movies came out?

I don't know. I remember that X3 filmed all the way to the middle of December, then had pickup shots throughout the end of winter and was still released in May. That's probably not a good thing to compare it to considering how X3 turned out (though I think that had more to do with the director). But the new Spiderman and Batman 3 were both released in July of this year and did amazingly well, so maybe it's a good sign. - Alicia

The film project suffered several delays before it finally started shooting in end-July, 2012 --
*Aronofsky left the project...and a hunt for a new director took place, until Mangold came in. *The tsunami impact also affected location filming and another postponement had to take place *It seemed that they were all set to film in the fall of 2011 but that did not materialize, resulting in Hugh pushing forward his Back on Broadway show
By the time all things were sorted out, Hugh had already committed to filming Les Miserables and that had taken precedence over The Wolverine, as Les Miserables was already all set to film ( including the long rehearsal period - 8 weeks - which preceded filming).
I guess FOX decided that since they will be dependent to some extent on the completion of the Les Miserables filming schedule ( which happily completed its planned shooting within expected time frame, eventually) -- they gave themselves some allowance in terms of setting a firm release date.

Btw, XMEN: First Class ( the best Jackman Wolverine cameo that ever was!) opened on June 3, 2011. It did less than Origins, both domestic and worldwide, but I guess it signified to Fox that a real summer date opening also works well for the franchise.

Did anybody see the first (pilot) episode of VEGAS on CBS this past week? It was pretty good. I hadn't realized it was directed by James Mangold. I have a feeling he'll be involved only so far as the pilot, though.

I wonder if he'll direct other episodes in between movies.

Thanks so much for the photos Barbara! On his upper right thigh it looks like a puncture of some kind there. Is that supposed to be a stab wound or gun shot wound of some kind I wonder?
