I only met Wolverine when I learned that Hugh was also an XMan -- I first knew him as Curly.

Now, I am also very oddly excited at the start of his new Wolverine project! Maybe because I have just had a marathon viewing of the three XMEN movies, the Origins movie, and the cameo in First Class. Wolverine is a very interesting character - despite the gruffness, you feel for him and how he approaches life.

Wolverine - the film one - he does grow on you 8-)

In 1945, Logan unwittingly participated in another landmark of World War II, when he was captured by Japanese soldiers while performing sabotage missions in Japan, where he was sent to a prison camp in Nagasaki. Logan escaped from his cell along with Lt. Ethan Warren, an American soldier who was also captured, and found refuge and love in a local Japanese girl, named Atsuko. Unfortunately, Lt. Warren, himself a mutant, returned and murdered the girl and the two men fought, until both were caught in the atomic blast that destroyed much of the city. Logan survived, but was devastated to lose another woman in his life.

We don't know if the script will follow the above storyline...but it places Logan in the Pacific theatre, including why the mini-set photos during the press conference with PM Gillard and Hugh included what seemed like an atomic blast.

He wore wigs for Les Miserables, too -- when he was middle-aged as Monsieur le Maire and when he was supposed to be in his mid-60's.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I enlarged the image a bit and I could swear that the guy on the far left is Hugh & has mutton chops! Maybe if he was a POW his shorter hair and letting it grow out will be written into the movie??

Brief Details Of Alaskan Scenes For Hugh Jackman's THE WOLVERINE

James Mangold's The Wolverine will be filming scenes depicting a snow covered Alaska in Picton, south-west of Sydney. Click the jump for exclusive information about these scenes.


Earlier today the Illawarra Mercury had spoken with with a member of the Wollondilly Shire Council that confirmed The Wolverine would be filming at an old hardware shop and Wollondilly Shire Hall. Streets will be shutdown beginning at noon on Thursday til 6am Saturday. The spokeswoman did not provide any details.

Southern Highland News is relaying news from Wollondilly Advertiser's reporter Michael Cox who has learned that snow is being trucked in to the town and will be scattered upon rooftops and roads. The set will be made to resemble snow covered Alaska.

I've been told by my source that Hugh Jackman will be filming scenes in which his character, Logan, heads into a small Alaskan town and purchases goods from a store that sells camping gear. Logan will also have scenes that take place in the front and back of a local bar.

I also did some digging and came across this message on the Wollondilly Library's facebook page.

Finally! A literary character is coming to Picton, Wolverine no less…Oh who am I kidding, Hugh Jackman is coming to Picton!!! Scenes from ‘The Wolverine’ film are being shot right here in front of the Library building from the 2nd to 4th August. We are expecting that the urge to visit the library will be HUGH.

I think the writer meant " the urge to visit the library ( by townspeople) will be huge" ( but using "Hugh" instead). I also read it the other way around the first time. LOL!

HUGH Jackman took time from his busy Wolverine schedule this morning to thank Sutherland Shire for allowing the production company, 20th Century Fox, to shoot scenes for the blockbuster film at Bonna Point Reserve, Kurnell. The actor, who was dressed and made up as his character Logan, personally thanked mayor Carol Provan and the council for letting them close the site to create a Japanese prisoner of war camp.Jackman said he was keen to check out some of the other shire sights and take his son to visit Captain Cook’s Landing Place and Cape Solander, Kurnell.

I had toyed with the idea that he might want to go with the cropped looked for Wolverine because I thought the modern Japanese characters might sport similar short styles ( unless pony-tailed, as warriors). It is definitely a new look for Wolverine and suits the warrior-like quality of this superhero!

Also, it seems that he will have enough time to promote Les Miserables if filming for The Wolverine ( including the Japan location filming) ends by mid-November.

PICTON’S Menangle Street is being transformed to resemble a snow-covered Canada for the filming of The Wolverine movie, starring Hugh Jackman, which will screen in late 2013.
A Wollondilly Council spokeswoman said they were filming a fight scene on the street, a scene shot through the Shire Hall doors and another scene in Corbett’s Hardware store.

The film’s location manager confirmed in a statement that the Wolverine film was set in the Yukon (north west Canada) and Japan.

A mural that says ‘‘Ed’s Bar’’ was painted on a driveway wall and a sign was erected that says ‘‘The Yukon: Sportsman’s Paradise’’ on Corbett’s Hardware.

THE world's most famous male chest finally made an appearance yesterday with Hugh Jackman glimpsed for the first time - sans shirt - on the set of The Wolverine at Kurnell.

It appears the actor is in fine physical shape, as always, for his second turn as the bearded mutant, though bizarrely there is yet to be an official announcement about his female co-star.

Despite filming being well underway, the actress set to play Viper in the flick is yet to materialise, with a production rep confirming yesterday that nothing had been finalised.

It's widely reported that the physical role has been handed to Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova after Jessica Biel dropped out of talks.<<<

It must have been terribly cold as set visitors were very warmly clad ( it is still Australian winter) -- poor Hugh! Having to run around without a shirt on, like the other POWs! Maybe those brisk morning swims on Bondi helped him in the conditioning!!
