We went to see the Special to Vienna because it wasn´t in our theaters. With a group of friends and a theater full of fans, I was excited! I loved it even at home after I watched it. I never really liked Matt Smith (still my least favourite - even after I rewatched the classic series) but he worked here very well and his scenes with David were hilarious. The whole theater screamed and cheered when Capaldi´s eyes appeared i am so excited to see him in that role and if Matt´s Doctor regenarated five minutes in the Christmas special, I wouldn´t mind Did you guys watch the rest of the stuff made for the Anniversary? Since my favourite Doctor is 5th, I was so thrilled by The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot It was funny with so many unexpected cameos And then An Adventure in Space and Time - a movie about creating DW. It was touching, great and I cried a bit in the end.

Fans of Matt Smith and CABARET should have a field day watching a BBC film I caught via Netflix, CHRISTOPHER AND HIS KIND. It's a fairly explicit memoir of the late novelist Christopher Isherwood, whose BERLIN STORIES were the basis for various works, including CABARET. Isherwood, played by Smith, traveled from London to Berlin in the early '30s to live openly as a gay man, and, if the film is accurate, made the most of that experience. Numerous characters from CABARET clearly have their roots in Isherwood's actual encounters with his landlady, the untalented singer down the hall, etc.

Next week is the Season Finale. Already? Is that possible?
I have to admit I have not gotten into this latest incarnation of The Doctor. It's not the actor. I'm not over the moon about him (the last one I really liked was David Tennent), but he's fine. I like his look and his accent. What I do not like is the way his character has been written this season. Is everyone else loving it? What am I not getting?

Hi Valerie I've been tweeting my views on the current season and I agree the writing has been problematic! I do like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor when he's been allowed to be The Doctor and not a punching bag for Clara. I have finally joined the ranks of the Clara haters this season. Previously I was just indifferent to her. I don't know why Moffat has chosen to showcase her so much at the expense of the character of the Doctor. At some moments it seemed to me that he wanted the fans to hate the Doctor or maybe he wanted the show to be about Clara...I don't know I've just been annoyed by so many scenes with her. I also hate her boyfriend, the Danny Pink character. I'm a little apprehensive about the 2 part finale. I haven't really been liking the whole 'creepy woman in heaven' idea so far so can't imagine what that is leading up to. Apparently the 2 parter will wrap up that story arc so we'll see smiley-rolleyes010 I'm still a fan but they have to get rid of Clara and let the Doctor be The Doctor! Sue

I'm rather ambivalent about the show now. I watch it and enjoy some of it (I actually like Danny Pink, but she's going to have to confide in him sooner or later!) Peter Capaldi is okay, but he'll never be David Tennant! Nancy

Thanks, Ladies. I don't have a problem with The Doctor. I like Peter Capaldi (though I agree, he's no David Tennant - the "energy" isn't even close). What I'm not liking (as birchie mentioned) is the writing. It just isn't "Dr. Who" enough to suit me.
I have been watching and I will watch the finale, but I sure hope next season is better/different - more Doctor/less Clara.

David T. was great! He made a comment that his father-in-law was the 5th Doctor! That is too funny! Nancy

I saw your "heads up" but dozed off before seeing him. Is he promoting a new film? He's not bad, but I still prefer Tennant. (I was not aware of Dr Who in the '80s)

(I was not aware of Dr Who in the '80s) He's promoting a new TV show "Gracepoint" which is the American version of the British "Broadchurch." He has an American accent in GP and had his own voice in BC (which I did see) Skipped GP. Nancy

I loved season 8. The best season since 4, I think. Peter Capaldi quickly became my favourite Doctor, knocked down Jon Pertwee and Peter Davison from first place. I can´t wait to see more. And the Christmas special which looks bonkers I was a big part of "Moffat out"camp, especially because of season 6 and Matt Smith/Karen Gillan dynamics that I couldn´t stand and 11 is my least favourite of them all. But he seemed to find the right Doctor in Peter. Peter is just a fantastic actor. He can say so much just with his eyes or a body language and is so adorable in real life. Huge fan of the show, who is able to talk about favourite monsters for 10 minutes. But I knew him a long time before he became the Doctor and when they announced him, I was like "Of course!" He IS the Doctor. I had some problems with Clara in this season, but mostly due to the dull relationship with Danny, which was pointless. Jenna and Peter had such a great chemistry that the lack of it with Samuel Anderson was even more visible. Twelve and Clara had a very interesting and complicated relationship, indeed. But if Jenna stays, I want to see Clara to become a normal companion, who travels with the Doctor all the time and who doesn´t seem annoyed or bored most of the time. And for the record - David Tennant is about 6th on my personal list of 12 Doctors. I think he was the "people Doctor", was great, I loved him and I missed him when Matt Smith was on but now? I don´t miss him at all. Sure, it is always sad when one Doctor leaves but I don´t watch it for one specific actor, I watch it for the show itself. The regeneration is a part of the process. I enjoy his episodes when I rewatch them but he is the part of the show´s history now. There is nothing wrong with it but I don´t understand the "best Doctor ever" thing attached to him. I watched the classic two years ago and there are so many better Doctors than just David Tennant (or Tom Baker, who seems to be untouchable for some reason). Also, from the new series, I prefer Chris Eccleston, who was my first Doctor and before 12 came, my most favourite from the modern Doctors. DW was not a part of my childhood or is not a part of a cultural heritage as in the UK but I love it and it´s been in my life for 8 years now. I hope Peter will get at least 4 seasons, he certainly deserves them. I just hope Clara won´t get another boyfriend to be torn about...

The season premiere is Sat. Sept. 19th on BBC America! Last Sat. I was rewatching the season finale, where Matt Smith regenerates into Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. They had a host who was telling "behind the scenes" stuff. She said that Matt wore a wig for the show because he had already shaved his head for another role. It was a really good wig as I couldn't even tell. One time during the show he removes the wig, and when I first saw it in 2014 I thought he had a bald cap on!

Having only seen 2-3 episodes last season I tried to watch most of the season one finale last night, but only managed to catch parts of it. I did watch the first new ep and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I will try to keep up this season and (if possible) see if I can backtrack to see what I missed - apparently a LOT has happened since the Doctor's most recent regeneration.

Perfect! I watched the repeat of the dinosaur in London (late 1880's) episode last night and I don't remember any of it, but you'd think I would have seen it as I have Doctor Who on my DVR queue! Now, after I get off here, I'm going to watch the new Season 9 premiere episode! I wonder who will replace "Clara" as the Doctor's companion? Nancy

I DVR's a few other episodes from last season to see if I remember them. The season premiere was good. I still miss David & Matt though. I prefer a younger Doctor. (David Tennant: *THUD*) Will the actress who plays Clara finish out season 9 and then leave?

The video, and more, here.I can't say I'm thrilled with the new season so far. They seem to be trying too hard to be freaky and coming off rather disjointed. Again, Peter Capaldi is fine, it's the writing that leaves me cold.

I *loved* series 9. Gosh, Peter Capaldi is fantastic Doctor. And I think I developed a crush on him I honestly disliked Matt Smith´s Doctor so it almost took my love away for the show but this year? Oh boy. Heaven Sent was one of the best episodes in years. Peter was brilliant in it - I don´t like to have my hopes up but could he get at least a BAFTA nomination for this year or that episode alone? It was beautifally directed, too and that score by Murray Gold? I just love this show again. Thanks Peter! I never liked Moffat´s stuff in series 5-7 but these past two series were great. 12 is now my favourite Doctor and pushed Doctor Third to second place I think that an older actor just works better as the Doctor, no offense to some younger ones, they were all good, I just....found *my* Doctor in Peter. And I am going to miss Jenna Coleman. Clara annoyed me a bit in the last series but she was OK here and Jenna with Peter had such a wonderful chemistry. They were also one of the best Doctor/companion duos ever (and I loved David and Catherine Tate, it was just a bit different kind of chemistry )

When is this show coming back?! Nancy Rumours say next January. Well, rumours say that this year, there will be only a Christmas Special, with S10 in January. Who knows. They didn´t start filming yet (again, a speculation says that the filming should start in May). I don´t mind the break, because Peter Capaldi stays as the Doctor, and that´s all that matters to me right now
