Is this really still on? ? I hope this is true because I was so in love with the script when I read it. www.contactmusic.com/story/hugh-jackman-can-t-wait-to-get-back-in-the-saddle-for-western-adventure_3836492Hugh Jackman - Hugh Jackman Can't Wait To Get Back In The Saddle For Western Adventure by WENN | 26 August 2013
Hugh Jackman has signed on to star in Madeleine Stowe's directorial debut because he's keen to saddle up and play an all-American cowboy.
The movie star studied horseback riding for his roles in Kate & Leopold and Australia but now he's planning to get serious for The Last of the Mohicans star's new project Unbound Captives.
Jackman will play a frontiersman who comes to the aid of a woman kidnapped by the Comanche Indians, who kill her husband. Rachel Weisz is in talks for the female lead in the film, which Stowe has also co-written with her husband Brian Benben.
Jackman tells Cowboys & Indians magazine that his 13-year-old son can't wait for filming to start: "He knows all about this project and keeps asking me, 'When are we going to go and live with the American Indians?' He knows all the nuances - who the tribes are and where they lived. It's fascinating to me."
And the actor admits he has a very personal reason to get back on a horse, adding, "When you come to riding as an adult as I did... I really learned how to work with a horse in my 30s and was much more cautious than if I'd ridden as a boy or young man.
"But when you ride cutting horses every day for months, like I did in Australia, even falling off a few of them, I discovered that I genuinely loved being on a horse and now have to find a reason to get back out to the West and ride again."
Contactmusic At first I thought it was an old story resurrected as we've seen before but the quotes are recent! Sue

No more talk of Pattinson (thankfully), who's now likely too old to play the son. I'll bet they'll try for another teen heartthrob to ramp up box office among young ticket buyers. No wonder Hugh's on the cover of the new Cowboys & Indians magazine again; first time since AUSTRALIA.

Here's the cover page for COWBOYS AND INDIANS -- As to the rumor about Unbound Captives -- I think what kept holding it up was the issue of funding ( which could also likely be related to the issue of Madeleine Stowe handling the directorial job). Maybe there is an update on the film being greenlighted? Up to when is Rachel committed on Broadway for BETRAYAL? Does anyone still have a copy of the script? Jo

smiley-signs101 Will enjoy re-reading it, Sue! Jo I'm going to read it again too! When I was a girl I was a huge fan of Western novels...probably read every Zane Grey novel I could get my hands on. Later on I loved Larry McMurtry. More recently I was obsessed with Tony Hillerman and read all of his books. They are more modern, mostly Navaho, stories and would be classified as detective stories rather than westerns. Probably why I liked them so well since they combined western motifs with mystery. Mystery, suspense, thriller novels are my favorite genre. I was wondering how did you get that cover picture? It's not even on their website www.cowboysindians.com/ Good detective work for you! <cool> I'm also very glad that RP is too old to play the son. I never thought he was right for it. There are several young up & coming actors that might be good so I'm anxious to see if they actually start casting for this soon. Sue

LOL - can't even trace back where I found it. I think I was trying to check out whether the "update" on Unbound Captives was actually a current story...and must have come across a link which fortunately had that photo image. He does look good Jo

I so hope this is true! Apparently being on the cover of Cowboys was the first clue that something was up. Assuming he will take the reins before Houdini? First Prisoners, now this...absolutely thrilled to see him break away from Wolverine for a while. A boost for his career.
Speaking of boost, ONO in LA isn't going to hurt. Does anyone have a single ticket available to purchase?

All the more amazing that you got that picture Jo! smiley-happy096 <cheer> Sue

I saw this issue in my Wal-Mart today and had a flip through. The photos are beautiful! I didn't get to read the interview but I'm hoping next week I'll be able to buy the issue and read it.

www.news.com.au/entertainment/movies/hugh-jackman-pulls-out-of-muchanticipated-western-movie-unbound-captives/story-fnk850z8-1226804113164Hugh Jackman pulls out of much-anticipated Western movie Unbound Captives REVENGE star Madeleine Stowe has confirmed that Hugh Jackman has had to drop out of her upcoming movie western Unbound Captives. Jackman was set to play the lead role in the long-delayed project, which Stowe will direct. Stowe and husband Brian Benben wrote the script. Rachel Weisz, who starred opposite Jackman in The Fountain, and Twilight's Robert Pattinson, have also been linked to the project. Unbound Captives centres on a frontiersman who comes to the rescue of a woman who is captured by the Comanche in the 1850s. The film has been delayed for more than three years due to financing issues. Stowe says those money problems have been solved in recent weeks. Unfortunately, Stowe can only direct Unbound Captives in the few months when Revenge isn't filming. Stowe says those time issues have forced Jackman to bow out of the epic western. "The film is now fully funded but Hugh's schedule and my schedule did not align," Stowe says. "During the time that I have my hiatus (from Revenge) - it doesn't work for him there. "Unfortunately Hugh and I had to push this away and I so I'm having to find another actor. "I so wanted to work with Hugh because he's a beautiful guy." Last August, Jackman spoke enthusiastically about Unbound Captives, saying that his son Oscar couldn't wait for filming to start. "He knows all about this project and keeps asking me when 'when are we going to go and live with the American Indians'," Jackman said. Stowe has stuck to her guns to direct Unbound Captives. Fox reportedly offered the star $3 million for the script some years back. The studio saw it as a potential vehicle for Russell Crowe and director Ridley Scott who had teamed on Gladiator. Stowe is currently immersed in series three of Revenge - she plays Victoria Grayson - but is hoping Unbound Captives can start filming in the near future. "That's where we're at - we're funded but we have to get the right leading man," Stowe says.

So sad about UNBOUND CAPTIVES not working out for Hugh. It's a great story, and if it does get made with someone else, it just won't be the same.
