www.youtube.com/watch?v=VisbJTaIrTcJake Gyllenhaal appeared on David Letterman to promote PRISONERS. Clip was an upload from Italian TV and the clip from the movie was not shown. Not sure - but I think I saw a tweet talking about the possibility of a Hugh appearance on Ellen. Jo

NBC has been showing a quick shot of Hugh as one of Ellen's guests in the new season (date unknown as of yet). He'll be on Leno Sept. 12.

The Leno appearance will coincide with the Hollywood premiere of PRISONERS on September 12. Btw, he is appearing as the cover story for TOWN AND COUNTRY -- maybe this is part of the publicity trail for PRISONERS? Jo

Very good interview with Terence Howard -- www.tribute.ca/tiff/index.php/2013/09/05/terrence-howard-interview-prisoners/#.UilKHtKsiSoAt around 2/3 of the clip, he talks about the protracted torture scene, with Keller continously pounding on Alex and the director not wanting him to stop. Terence said he almost vomitted watching that ...and later narrated how they first each went to his own trailer/room...but later on all came out and they were all hugging each other( and crying almost). Sometimes, we think that actors are left unaffected by what they portray on screen, but maybe we do not appreciate what they really go through. This kind of reminds me of what Hugh had experienced after shooting one of the most difficult scenes in The Fountain ( and where he ended up lying on the floor of his trailer because of physical and emotional exhaustion afterwards). Would love to see an interview with Hugh with the same interviewer. There are also interviews with Maria Bello, Melissa Leo, and Paul Dano. Will check them out later. Jo

Here's the joint interview with Melissa Leo and Paul Dano - also quite insightful. www.tribute.ca/tiff/index.php/2013/09/05/melissa-leo-paul-dano-interview-prisoners/Interesting comment from Melissa about how they know when Hugh wants quiet moments with himself as he prepares for a scene ...and when he wants to enjoy himself with them on the set. Paul seems like someone who will go far with his career choices. He is also part of 12 YEARS A SLAVE. Do you remember the story earlier that he had chosen the role in PRISONERS over a role in tne Clint Eastwood filmization of Jersey Boys? Jo

Maria Bello shares her thoughts -- www.tribute.ca/tiff/index.php/2013/09/05/maria-bello-interview-prisoners/Because she is a mother, it was easy to relate to the film but admits that the dilemma facing a parent with a missing child is very, very difficult to deal with. She has also mentioned that Hugh shared some extensive social research on the impact on parents of children missing, so they can navigate their acting choices in a more empirical manner. Also, after being asked by the interviewer how she thinks Hugh was able to go the distance in such a role, Maria said that Hugh " is such a soulful, centered, and a really good, self-possessed human being that he can do justice to very different roles in his career "( eg Les Miserables, Prisoners, Wolverine). Maria added that Hugh did not care whether people would like him the way he portrayed the role or not, he just let go! Jo

Last interview was with director Denis Villeneuve -- www.tribute.ca/tiff/index.php/2013/09/05/denis-villeneuve-interview-prisoners/He talked about his cinematic vision for the film, about his two lead actors, and what he hopes people will get after seeing a thought-provoking movie like this. PS He said that after a protracted filming of the torture scenes, they would end up crying and laughing! I guess they are both expressions of release, after such taut and powerful scenes are filmed. It looks like some official shot. I can´t wait to see it because, man, they look stunning. Jake seems to have the same ability as Hugh, getting better with age. I never really liked him physically (but I do like him as an actor and I like his work), he really looks fine here To the interviews - I liked what Denis said about Hugh - that nowadays, his range is not used and compared him to ferrari that goes only 35 miles per hour. Interesting stuff. I also *love* Maria Bello. She has been my favourite since Mr. and Mrs. Smith (also, Scott Bakula is in my personal top 5, multitalented as Hugh ) I wish her all the luck but she also wasn´t too lucky with scripts. Except the History of Violence, I don´t think "normal" audiences noticed her, which is a shame.

I also chuckled at that -- a racing Ferrari can actually go as high as 350 km per hour! Btw, this is MONZA weekend -- the temple of F-1 racing, at the spiritual home of Ferrari!
Btw, RUSH, which is competing with PRISONERS ( although RUSH is released on a limited basis on the first week) has also received an "R" rating. Hmmm...violence to the cars??? LOL!

Excellent interview by Jake Hamilton with the cast ( except for Viola who didn't seem to be around). www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPWqCdAIj1Q&feature=youtu.beHamilton asked if this is the kind of stuff that would make excellent material for a stage play? I have thought about the same thing...but as Terence Howard pointed out -- it would be very difficult to go through a traumatic experience like this night after night! Again, I can't help thinking about some similarities about the role of Denny in A STEADY RAIN. Jo
