A clip explaining the genesis of Chappie -- some SPOILERS !!www.theverge.com/2015/2/27/8119229/chappie-behind-the-scenes-neill-blomkampI didn't realize Simon Kinberg ( scriptwriter of XMEN:Last Stand, First Class, scriptwriter and producer for DAYS OF FUTURE PAST) is a producer for CHAPPIE. He also produced Neill Blomkamp's second movie ELYSIUM. I wonder if he was the link for introducing Neill to Hugh? Jo

It seems that newly appointed head of SONY ( Tom Rothman) and Neill Blomkamp had a run-in when they worked on a project at Fox -- variety.com/2015/film/news/tom-rothmans-top-priorities-at-sony-cut-costs-make-peace-1201441019/But maybe they have smoked the peace pipe to work on a successful marketing and distribution strategy for CHAPPIE ( 3000+ screen count and aggressive promotion activities), which is actually a medium-sized budget movie ( supposedly at only $ 60 million or so)? Guess what?? I was watching a local newscast and all of a sudden there was a short feature on CHAPPIE and its cast. A media anchor did an interview (as part of the press junket, connected through the internet) -- *Sigourney recalled her time here when she filmed The Year of Living Dangerously. *Dev said he is rooting for Manny Pacquiao in the forthcoming Mayweather/Pacquiao Las Vegas fight. *Hugh also said he is rooting for Manny ( he said he admired his speed, and because Manny is the underdog Hugh, as an Australian, is rooting for him ). But what happened next was totally unexpected. Hugh asked permission from the female media person (who is very pretty) if he could ask her a question? Then he asked, in behalf of someone from their CHAPPIE group, "what her marital status is " ...When she replied that she is single, Hugh said " I'll tell Sigourney ...just kidding *laugh*". Lol! What Hugh did not know is that this particular newscaster once rode an elevator with him in L.A. (and might have even asked for a photo with Hugh)..and has been such a great fan of his ( she gets teased about her crush) Here's our own Gretchen Fullido -- Jo

LOL - I found the upload of the local interview. The voiceover is that of the news anchor who got interviewed by Hugh instead -- www.abs-cbnnews.com/video/entertainment/03/02/15/hugh-jackman-wants-pacquiao-beat-mayweatherI think that now that I have watched it a second time -- I can give a guess as to who was inquisitive about Gretchen. Hugh says it is a member of the cast. And Dev has split up with his partner of 6 years ( Frida Pinto from Slumdog M) not so long ago. Hmmm ... Jo

Hugh is interviewed by ET about his hair maintenance history -- www.etonline.com/movies/160512_hugh_jackman_might_have_the_most_high_maintenance_hair_hollywood/I think he forgot one my favorites - the long locks in Van Helsing smiley-love029 He grew his hair long but he did have some hair extensions put in to add length ( very painful process, he said during the Parkinson interview) I also remember him saying in another interview how he would wear it on a ponytail on top of his head at home Jo

Re Fallon: Not only that--they exchanged their mega-mullets while the CHAPPIE film clip was running. Very playful. I got a little annoyed with Fallon when he preferred to take up a good bit of Hugh's valuable interview time doing his Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation. (It had to do with a cigar story Fallon related; he was reminded of it when showing Hugh's Cigar Aficionado cover.) The musical beers game was fun (Hugh tried to cheat but still lost, LOL), but again, some of his spotlight was taken away by the presence of "guest stars" Bobby Moynihan, Kate McKinnon and Colin Jost from SNL; and more notably Chris Hemsworth. When Hemsworth came out a woman behind me screamed so loud I'd swear my ears rang for a few minutes. But he and Hugh were chummy; maybe discussing things back Down Under...?
Side note: I would never have braved horrible roads and a nasty storm if not for the fact that I had a NYC medical appointment today. Figured as long as I was in the city, might as well stay for the show. I did make brief eye contact with Hugh, who then gave me a wink and a thumbs-up as he was leaving the stage. He is looking DARNED good.

Just saw the replay of the Tonight Show here in Manila. Hugh is always so self-assured, easy-going, too charming -- just a born entertainer! Nothing seems to faze him Compare his natural manner with how he portrayed The Man in THE RIVER - what a contrast! Jo
