Quo vadis, Hugh? Whither thou goest? Hugh is at a crossroads in his career ( or, at least, he has not shared with us his plans after CHAPPIE!) Tantalizing thought -- To be or not to be -- To be on stage or be in films? To explore more dramatic material ( stage and film) or pursue other adventures, career-wise? To say Goodbye to Wolverine...or... To spend more time for his family and himself ... or to pursue his career as actively?

Somewhat off the beaten track This was posted on his IMDB page -- www.imdb.com/name/nm0413168/board/nest/223255968Celebrity judge for a reality TV show on Body Art called INK MASTER? I wouldn't be surprised that he has agreed to be a surprise judge, given how often exotic tattoos of Wolverine he has been shown ( the most famous encounter was with NY restauranteur Vinny who showed him a full scale Wolverine tattoo on his back. Then, do you remember when "Denny" proudly wore a mermaid tattoo on his right arm? Hugh had it during the run of A STEADY RAIN? More recently, Hugh was proudly talking of how his little princess, Ava, wore a fake Wolverine tattoo on her arm on the first day of school Jo

I'm wondering whether the elimination of HOUDINI from his plate has thrown a big monkey wrench into whatever established plans he had for the year. Could be he'll add a surprise event or maybe cancel a project and substitute it with something on a grander scale. We're in for some "watchful waiting," as the phrase goes.

I have a feeling that when the indications about the doubtful future of HOUDINI( when he and Schwartz seem not to be talking of the same timetables - that was around the promotion for THE WOLVERINE - around summer) seemed to have emerged, that he already had a big hunch that things will not fall into place for the project...and that he may have already begun thinking about his options in the longer term. As you say, Ellen, this bears careful ( and hopeful and exciting) watching ...I am actually excited that he may give us a wonderful surprise, if things fall into place. One note -- he is now working with quite a few film studios or at least indie producers backed by major studios ( unlike in the past, where his film projects were mostly identified with Fox) -- he is working with Warner Bros ( Prisoners), Universal ( Les Miserables), Dreamworks/Disney ( Real Steel), and of course Fox (XMEN and hopefully, Greatest Showman on Earth). I am not sure but I think the SIX YEARS project is with Paramount? I am probably too fixated on A STEADY RAIN as a potential film project -- but I wonder what happened to the plans to adapt it for the cinema? Has Keith Huff completed the screenplay? What do the producers ( Bond movie producers) think of it as a small but powerful film material? If Hugh's appeal and talent had been largely praised for PRISONERS, maybe this could be an indication that similar dark material from a slightly different genre could be attractive to moviegoers, too, so long as it is well-made cinematically? Ha! My first thought when I saw the title QUO VADIS? was, "Oh no, they're not going to remake that with Hugh in the Robert Taylor role!" Are they nuts? Crazy? Ha ha!
There may be wonderful surprises in store, but not that!

There may be wonderful surprises in store, but not that! To tell the truth, Kathy - I borrowed the phrase from the movie title giggle ( although it is an often-quoted phrase). Robert Taylor movies -- hmm...my memory cells are not too great about him, but I will always remember him in Ivanhoe with the incredibly beautiful Elizabeth Taylor then. I remember the novel by Sir Walter Scott as required lit reading then... Wasn't he also once Lancelot to Ava Gardner's Guinevere then?? They certainly had some real good lookers then! Jo

I remember IVANHOE as required reading in high school English class. Somehow, Robert Taylor seemed too old for the part. Too old for QUO VADIS as well! So glad I misunderstood this thread title, Jo!

There is such a dearth of Hugh career news that even an instagram photo of a new film hairstyle ( aka the mullet, which was Correlli's Kevin Jones's preferred 'do) has generated so much bandwidth usage smiley-computer004( via twitter, facebook, film site, even fashion sites, and pop culture sites in general) - LOL! CHAPPIE should be done filming for Hugh in a week-and-a-half or so... What's next, Hugh
