I was there and spoke to Hugh & Deb for a hot minute. They were as charming and gracious as ever. Details for The River will be announced soon There were lots of paps and Australian press there so I'm sure the 10 minute event will b on utube soon

I wonder if they were up very early ( early dawn) on the 24th? To watch the Nadal-Federer tennis match-up at the Australian Open, held at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.
Watching that huge arena, I almost cannot believe that Hugh once held the audience in the palm of his hands in that huge, huge stadium in 2006 !!

I was in the stadium 3 days ago watching the Federer - Murray quarter final and had similar thoughts. At least there were plenty of big screens which enabled us to get good closeups of facial expressions.

Will you be there for the finals on Sunday hu4601 One of my bucket list is to see Rafa Nadal play but now I have to be content with watching it on cable TV! Expressions, forehands, and rallies! All good to see on live TV these days! Hope it is a winner's smile at the end of the match for him! Back to the Rod Laver arena -- did you see Hugh when he performed there in 2006? I was in Sydney then...and now this reminds me that Hugh was all praise for Anthony Warlow in Pirates of Penzance at the Opera House. I wonder if Hugh will be inspired by Warlow's Pirate King performance when he assumes the role of BLACKBEARD? Although Warlow's take was more like Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow - LOL! Jo

Jo No-back home now. Was hoping to see an all Swiss final on Sunday, but it was not to be. not sure that I'll even watch on TV as I can't stand Nadal's grunting. Not as bad as some of the women, but still very distracting. It was a good experience to be in RLA and to also wander around the outdoor venues, but having done it, I probably wouldn't spend the money again as I'll need it for Broadway and maybe the one man show he's promised to bring back to Australia some day. I say BFOZ at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, but that is about to be demolished, so don't know what venue would be used there. Possibly the Opera House .

LOL! He plays a mean game of tennis though ...He does have some similarities with Hugh, which I find endearing ( left-handed playing, smile-is-best-feature, humility, family-orientation, expressive left eyebrow, impressive muscles and "famous ass", commitment and professional discipline, love of musical theatre, even love of fishing, etc)...But I guess you belong to the other camp , sorry! Yes, I did hear that the Sydney Entertainment Center is going to make way to another infrastructure project. I stayed at the hotel across the SEC then and it was very convenient. His one-man show pops up when you least expect it - so, maybe an Australian tour might be in the cards at some point. I wonder what he is planning after the PAN/BLACKBEARD filming is done? He should be relatively free in the second half, unless they accelerate the schedule for THE RIVER and he goes back to Broadway earlier than expected... I am hoping that the movie musical project GREATEST SHOWMAN gets greenlit this year...but it seems the film director has another priority project. We'll see... Jo

Not as bad as some of the women, but still very distracting. I agree! I've also hoped for an all Swiss final. I can't stand Nadal either, I don't like his attitude and I can't stand his style of play. I've always supported Federer, and I hope that he can win once again a Grand Slam tournament, before he retires. To each his (or her) own, but I don't think that Nadal and Hugh have much in common, in fact it's Federer with his elegant way of play and his humbleness and kindness, who is described as the "Hugh Jackman of Tennis" as people commented again after his Murray match for example.

I'm not going to get into a G.O.A.T discussion -- but look who has just become "a big fan" after watching the Nadal-Federer match -- Pete Sampras ( who is handing out the winner's trophy tomorrow ...I used to be a big fan of Sampras when he was still playing. He admires Federer, too. www.bbc.com/sport/0/tennis/25893964And sorry, the only similarity that I can remotely link between Hugh and Roger is that Anna Wintour loves/likes them both ... To each his own It's funny that now that we are talking about Hugh and tennis -- I remember reading not so long ago, that when Novak Djokovic was asked which actor he would like to portray him, if ever his biopic became the subject of a film. Without batting an eyelash - he immediately said "Hugh Jackman!"...I have seen Hugh don tennis gear only once ( in Deception) but according to Liev Schreiber, Hugh is a very good tennis player. Back to topic -- the Empire State Building will light up in green and gold only on Sunday, January 26. One of the most welcoming sights if arriving in New York from JFK in the evening is when one draws nearer Manhattan while driving on Queens. The Empire State must be such a sight, all lit in celebratory colors, from that distance! I wonder if the Jackmans can view the lit up building from their place, without too much distraction of other tall buildings? Ava and Oscar must be excited, too! In all these years, even when I used to live and work in NYC, I never went up the Empire State. Like most people who live in NYC, I postponed going up everytime until I no longer had the chance...In all my trips back to NYC, I did not go, too...although I have gone up to Top of the Rock, had dinner at the once top floor restaurant of one of the stricken Twin Towers (Windows of the World) and even had lunch at the once-PanAM Building ( I don't know the current name - is it that of an insurance firm?) on Park Avenue (because I used to work at nearby Citibank )...I think if I do get the chance to revisit NYC, I just might take that long-planned visit of the iconic Empire State Building. I do remember some movies where the Observation Deck played a main part...and it is the building in NYC that is always a beacon as one approaches Manhattan. Maybe I will, if I get a chance to see The River Jo

Well, it was not meant to be Rafa's day on Australia Day!
Congrats to Stan!
But great respect to Rafa for how he conducted himself in the face of injury.
Both deserving Champions!
